Chapter 339 - 338: A Good Hand_1
Xiu Yan gently helped her dry her hair, asking in a soft voice, "Did I pull your hair?"
Ji Nuan answered with a sweet smile, "No, it feels nice, hehe."
After drying Ji Nuan’s hair, Xiu Yan took out a piece of beast skin and wrapped it around Ji Nuan’s head, claiming in a sanctimonious manner that he was afraid she would catch a cold.
So, Ji Nuan had no choice but to suffer silently, wearing this makeshift "scarf," holding a large ceramic bowl and eating the spicy fried giggle beast meat with purple rice.
The two beasts didn’t bother to clean up the dishes after their meal and went back to their room to sleep, their eyelids heavy with fatigue.
They had a particularly sweet sleep that night.
The next morning, Ji Nuan’s desire for corn helped her overcome her drowsiness, and she got out of bed.
Turning around, she noticed that the chubby cub that was sleeping next to her the night before was nowhere to be found. Had he gone hunting?
After freshening up and entering the kitchen, she saw that there was steam rising from the pot on the stove. Ji Nuan walked over and lifted the lid. There, on top of the sifter rested a large ceramic bowl filled with sweet, steaming sweet potato porridge.
"Brother Xiu Yan must have made it, hehe." Ji Nuan let out a triumphant hum in her heart.
She sat at the kitchen table and devoured the sweet potato porridge in the bowl.
After that, Ji Nuan went to the backyard to check on the corn seedlings she had brought back. They were crammed together in a tiny hole, their heads drooping listlessly.
Ji Nuan rolled up her sleeves and picked up the stone hoe that Ying Da had specifically sharpened for her. Then, she began to dig up the ground slowly.
"Ji Nuan, are you here?" The voice of Ge Xing echoed in the courtyard, and Ji Nuan quickly set down her stone tool and returned to the front yard.
"Uncle Ge Xing, I’m here. What do you need?" Ji Nuan asked, puzzled.
Ge Xing pointed to the meat at his feet, "Xiu Yan took the orcs out to find trees again. From now on, I’ll bring you your daily meals." After saying this, he observed Ji Nuan’s face carefully.
Ji Nuan puffed up like a pufferfish. So, Xiu Yan had gotten up early this morning just to avoid the awkwardness of dragging her along again. What a scheming beast!
"Don’t worry, I won’t be going with them this time. I haven’t planted my crops yet. I want to take good care of my seedlings." Ji Nuan assured Ge Xing.
Ge Xing let out a sigh of relief.
"By the way, Uncle, I heard from Qi Mo that the Pangolin Orcs in the tribe can help with digging. Can they help me with the backyard?" Ji Nuan inquired, somewhat embarrassed.
"There’s no need to trouble them! We can handle it ourselves!" A soft voice came from the entrance of the courtyard.
"Yaoyao?" Ji Nuan peered over the door in surprise.
Tu Yaoyao hopped in gaily and grabbed Ji Nuan’s arm, saying, "My father heard that you’re trying a new crop, so he sent me and my brothers to help. Leave the digging to us. We Rabbit Orcs are pretty good at it."
Ji Nuan held her hand, delighted. "That’s wonderful. I was worried about this."
Ge Xing stroked his small mustache and laughed, "It seems that this problem has been solved. I’ll head off first. If you need anything, just let me know."
Then Ji Nuan thought of the orc that Xiu Yan had brought back, "Clan Leader Uncle, how is that Rat Orc doing?"
Ge Xing chuckled, "Grandma Shaman has been gathering a lot of herbs lately. It’s a perfect time to try them out on him."
Ji Nuan silently gave a thumbs-up. All hail Grandma Shaman.
