Chapter 304 - 303, Don’t I Want Face?_1
"Be careful out there, you don’t need to pick too many herbs, prioritize your own safety," Ji Nuan handed the knapsack to Xiu Yan.
Xiu Yan nodded, took the basket and put it on his back. The procession of Orcs behind him was not used to his obedient demeanor and gritted their teeth in discomfort.
Di’s expression was especially odd, his waggled eyebrows and sidelong glances making him look very much like a gossipy beast.
"Be careful not to snatch and eat other people’s food when you’re out there, you understand?" On the other side, Aunt Naima was sternly lecturing their greedy male, a stark contrast to the warm scene here.
Uncle Ge Xing looked far from impatient, all smiles as he listened to his mate’s loving chatter, his face a picture of pure enjoyment.
The surrounding single Orcs shivered down to their bones. The Chief’s tastes were truly heavy.
The group of twenty or so Orcs turned into their beast forms, not worrying about the threat of any wild beasts. They sprinted on all fours, reaching the edge of the forest in no time.
First, they helped Xiu Yan collect the herbs that Ji Nuan needed, before continuing on their way to the territory of the Dashi Tribe.
"Stop, where did you beasts come from?" Their tracks were not concealed at all, so they were discovered by the patrolling Orcs of the Dashi Tribe as soon as they reached the edge of their territory.
Ge Xing stepped forward, "We are Orcs from the Watson Tribe. I am Chief Ge Xing from the Watson Tribe, I’ve come seeking your clan leader, Shi Jie, and the Chief of the Gray Bear Tribe, Bear, for a discussion."
Finishing his statement, he grandiosely waved his hand, "Go and notify them quickly."
The Orc looked at them, then instructed the others patrolling, "You stay here and watch them, I’ll go fetch the Clan Leader and Bear."
With that, he turned around and ran off.
Ge Xing proceeded to a stone to sit down and lazily bask in the sun, while Xiu Yan began to survey the outlying conditions of the Dashi Tribe.
Not a shred of grass could be seen on the mountain where the Dashi Tribe was located. Bare, all there was were stones.
Some of these stones even bore faint, streaks of dark red, a sight for sore eyes.
Xiu Yan went over to pick up a fist-sized stone and showed it to the patrolling Orcs from the Dashi Tribe, "Your tribe’s stones are very nice, can I bring one back for my mate?"
The Orcs glanced at the stone in his hand, then dismissively waved their hands, "Take it, take it."
Such stones were those that they had discarded because they were too small to be used for any good stone tools.
Seeing this, the other Orcs from the Watson Tribe immediately surrounded to take a look, also attracted by the differently-colored stones. They each bent over to pick out a few nicely shaped ones and stashed them in their own Beast Skin pouches.
Even Chief Ge Xing gathered a skull-sized rock and shamelessly threw it into Xiu Yan’s backpack.
So...
Presumably, the saying about reaping what you sow was referring to Orcs like Ge Xing. In the end, the knapsack ended up on his own back, plus each of the Orcs had also picked up an extra piece of red stone.
"Hahaha, Ge Xing, I told Shi Jie that you would surely visit us these days, but I never expected you to arrive today," Bear’s voice came from within their tribe.
Ge Xing put aside his slightly annoyed expression, splitting his mouth into a big laugh, "You simpleton of a bear, have you guessed why I’ve come?"
At the same time, he took off the knapsack from his back and threw it to an Orc beside him, "You hold it first, wouldn’t it shame me, the Chief, to carry this!"
