100X Return System: My Talent Awakening Becomes a God-Level Cheat

Chapter 58: Forgotten City [8]

The other Awakeners saw as Chrome and Aegon were walking towards the wall, but they didn’t come out of the cage.

Except two, and these were the two who were in the same cage with Chrome.

They had listened to him for a while and understood what had happened outside, before he began to lose it, so it was only natural.

They all watched as Aegon and Chrome reached the wall, and Chrome turned his neck to look at Aegon.

"A dead end, what are we going to do now?"

"Hmph."

That was the only thing that came out of Aegon. He moved the dagger in his right hand to his left, then used his right, to hold Chrome.

"Hold on."

At that moment, the dagger in his left hand suddenly disappeared and then he placed his left hand on the wall.

Chrome saw the sudden disappearance and before he could speak, a certain energy engulfed them, and they walked into the wall.

Meanwhile, the two Awakeners who had come out of their cage, saw what happened and turned to themselves with a smile, then one of them said.

"You see that?"

"_"

Two legs stepped out of a wide wall and then four legs were visible.

Aegon and Chrome came out from the place they were and now in the city.

"Where are we?"

The words left Chrome’s lips as he was in awe of the view before him. He had completely forgotten what had happened just before they came out as these felt more real.

"This is the forgotten city. It had been deserted for a long time, more than you and I know of."

Chrome turned to Aegon as he said this, "Forgotten city?" He asked.

"Yes, that’s what I call it. As you can see it fits the name well."

Chrome accepted the name with ease, after all, who was he to question the person who had just saved his life?

"So, where do you think we should start looking from?" Chrome asked.

Aegon simply raised his hand and pointed to his right side, in a far distance.

"Over there."

Chrome’s eyes followed his hand and saw the stripes of the castle at the far end of the city, the glorious color and tip of the castle.

"What... is that?" he asked, curious.

"That is the place we are to go. That is where all your questions would be answered."

Chrome was a bit confused with what Aegon had said, but knowing Aegon, there was a level of truth he had for him.

"Are we going to go there?" he asked.

Aegon place his hand on Chrome’s shoulder and said:

"You don’t have to worry, soon you will be able to use mana again and everything will go back to how it was."

The assurance gave Chrome a sense of ease but his expression didn’t show the same thing.

He looked at Aegon’s hand and thought inwardly.

’That dagger, it’s very expensive, and the way it disappeared in thin air. How did he do that?’

He obviously didn’t forget what he saw before they came outside, yet he couldn’t ask Aegon about it.

He turned around and looked at the wall in which they had come out from, it was a flat and thick wall.

’We came out of there so easily. I mean, I did see the monsters do that, but I never thought I would experience it.’

’From what I had gathered so far, my mana has been draining since I came to this place. It is almost as if someone or something is feeding off of it.’

’That was the only reason I wasn’t able to use my talent to break that cage; because I didn’t have enough mana.’

’But he...’

At this moment, Aegon had walked forward a bit giving a certain distance between them, so Chrome raised his head as he thought.

His eyes on Aegon’s back.

’He was able to do otherwise. He even fought that monster and won. I understand he’s very powerful but does that mean he isn’t affected?’

’Is his mana not draining? Or does he have so much, it doesn’t seem to stop him?’

It was no surprise that Chrome thought of these, after all he knew the difference between strength and weakness.

And Aegon, wasn’t of the latter, but former.

"He is very strong."

"_"

"We have to find a way to get to that castle, but you need to be careful, anything can appear at any time so be ready."

Aegon said this as they walked up the streets of the city. The red blood moon bathed the entire streets, but there was no living creature in sight, except these two.

As they walked, Aegon was at the front while Chrome, at his back. He didn’t want to walk together with Aegon.

Perhaps he felt like he wasn’t worthy to stand near him.

During this time, the light on Aegon’s body had already disappeared and his normal appearance remained.

But there was no weakness in him. He didn’t feel vulnerable like earlier, but full of strength.

’Even though I can’t use mana yet, I can still feel the aura coming out of him, he’s on a different level.’

Aegon continued to walk upwards but for some reason his expression suddenly changed.

He looked left and right continuously as though something was wrong. Even Chrome saw his expression and had to ask.

"Is something wrong?"

Aegon didn’t respond but raised his right hand and pointed at a particular building.

The building was intact, every block used to make it was intact. Even the windows and doors were not damaged.

It was as if this house was the only one that didn’t get roughed when the extreme rush of survival of the past habitant left.

Chrome looked at the building that Aegon pointed out, but didn’t see anything wrong with it.

"What happened to it?" He asked, curious, and Aegon responded.

"Keep your eyes on it."

It was obviously impossible because they were walking, but they continued, they passed a couple of buildings which were damaged and then came to another building which was the only one intact like the last one.

Chrome noticed this and thought in his heart,

’The other building looked untouched and was the only one. But the others after it were destroyed and looked damaged. However, now...’

His eyes widened as he thought of something very troubling, then he spoke out.

"There is an untouched building after every damaged one?"

He said it as a question because he wasn’t too certain, and Aegon replied.

"No."

Chrome was taken aback.

"Isn’t that it?"

And Aegon said again.

"Keep your eyes on it. At the back of your head."

Chrome was more than confused, he didn’t understand what Aegon meant, yet , he did as he said.

They were still walking while they had this conversation, and again, after the untouched building had passed, came a couple more destroyed buildings.

Chrome took note of this and felt that nothing was wrong like he had said before. But, as the next untouched building came, his eyes suddenly widened in shock.

’No way.’

"It is the same building as the last."

He quickly turned to Aegon and uttered with urgency.

"We’re in a loop."
