Chapter 103 - 101: Goblin Centurion
For the first time, an emotion other than rage and killing intent surfaced in the scarlet eyes of the strength-type Fusion Monster that had been launched into the air.
It was fear.
Suspended in the air, its massive body had no leverage, leaving it clumsy and helpless.
Following its lingering battle instincts, it could only cross its two iron arms—which had already recovered completely during their previous clash—tightly over its chest in a primitive defensive stance.
But it was useless!
Lin Ye’s ultimate strike, a fusion of all his power and skill, didn’t even make contact with the creature’s flesh.
Before the amethyst spear could even reach it, the sharp, highly compressed force radiating from the weapon had already transformed into an invisible blade, sweeping forward to strike first!
SHHIIICK!
Amid the shriek of tearing air, the formless pressure shredded the flesh of the Fusion Monster’s crossed arms, starting from the elbows!
Shredded flesh and black blood erupted into a gory mist before its very eyes!
ROOOAR—!!
The agony drove the Fusion Monster to let out one last, crazed shriek. Through the mist of blood, Lin Ye clearly saw the incredibly sturdy muscles on its chest tense violently. In an instant, a layer of inky-black keratin coated its skin.
Its color was like cast, hardened black iron, and it glinted with a cold, metallic sheen!
’Was this some kind of Horizontal Martial Technique it mastered in its previous life, or a special defensive ability it developed after mutating into a monster?’
The thought flashed through Lin Ye’s mind, but he instantly dismissed it.
It didn’t matter.
The essence of the spear was to press ever forward, to pierce through all obstacles!
Lin Ye’s strike was like a furious dragon roaring up from the abyss. He thrust his spear brazenly into the very center of the creature’s blackened chest!
The expected CRACK of weapon against heavy armor never came.
The moment the spear tip made contact with that layer of black keratin—
Lin Ye saw the monster’s chest—that seemingly indestructible black armor, along with the flesh, sinew, and bone beneath—
collapse inward and utterly disintegrate, as if turning to dust and smoke!
A massive cavity, over half a meter in diameter with edges as smooth as if cut by a laser, blasted clean through its chest!
BOOM—!!!
The frenzied aftershock continued unabated, bursting from the Fusion Monster’s back. It transformed into a destructive blast of force that shot toward the sky, punching an even more terrifying hole through the parking garage ceiling above.
THUD!
The Fusion Monster’s massive, broken body slammed onto the cold concrete floor with a dull thud, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Copious amounts of black blood, mixed with shredded internal organs, gushed from the horrific hole that ran straight through its chest.
Lin Ye watched as the light in its scarlet eyes faded rapidly, finally turning a deathly, ashen gray.
Its heart, along with its entire chest cavity, had been instantly vaporized and destroyed by that one strike.
There was no longer any chance of it regenerating.
"AWOOOO—!!!!"
Just then, Lin Ye heard a heart-wrenching shriek, filled with boundless sorrow and despair.
The anguish in that cry was so palpable it almost felt physical, making even Lin Ye’s spirit tremble.
Behind him, the agility-type Fusion Monster had frozen completely after witnessing its companion get killed in a single blow.
It made no move to attack Lin Ye. The killing intent and ferocity vanished from its scarlet eyes, replaced by a profound, strikingly human grief.
It threw itself upon the massive, cooling corpse. With its one uninjured arm, it shook its companion’s body, letting out mournful whimpers.
The amethyst on the tip of Lin Ye’s spear slowly faded, revealing the cold glint of alloy beneath. He aimed it from afar at the agility Fusion Monster’s head.
Cool moonlight streamed down from the massive hole in the ceiling, illuminating the area.
But the monster completely ignored the threat of death looming so close.
It simply lifted its head, cloudy tears streaming from its eyes and mixing with the blood smeared across its face.
It craned its neck, staring daggers at Lin Ye with eyes full of grief and bone-deep hatred.
The sight moved even Lin Ye.
’Perhaps they were very close in their past lives.’
’Perhaps they were devoted friends.’
’Or maybe... they were actual brothers, bound by blood.’
Lin Ye sighed softly to himself.
But the spear in his hand showed not a hint of hesitation or pause.
The spear shot out like lightning, piercing with unerring accuracy into the center of the monster’s brow.
The spear tip pierced its skull. With a flick of his wrist, Lin Ye unleashed a burst of condensed Qi and Blood, instantly scrambling its brain.
The monster’s body stiffened. It struggled for a moment, then all the light in its eyes vanished.
It slowly closed its eyes, and its lanky body slumped down, coming to rest against its companion’s cold corpse.
The two terrifying monsters that had once ravaged this area, in the final moment of their lives, fell together.
Lin Ye withdrew his spear and silently watched the scene before him.
’If I find the one responsible for turning you into... this, I will avenge you.’
Lin Ye made a silent promise.
The next moment, a series of system prompts began to ring in Lin Ye’s mind.
