Chapter 22 : Deal Reached
Chapter 22: Deal Reached
Jiang Chen didn’t care about the old principal’s reaction.
The NPCs in this game could truly feel this realistic.
“Why are you getting so worked up? We’re negotiating cooperation—only through discussion can it count as cooperation.” Vivian added as she spoke,
“If the price isn’t right, you can bargain…”
“One thousand gold coins,” the old principal said in a deep voice.
Vivian replied, “Wait, is that how you bargain?”
And so, the bewildered Vivian watched as the Evil God and the principal argued like people haggling in a marketplace, spittle practically flying.
So this was the negotiation skill the Evil God talked about?
Was this right?
Shouldn’t both sides be sitting across from each other, calculating step by step with their bargaining chips to maximize their own benefits?
And just like that, under Vivian’s stunned gaze, the two sides reached an agreement.
The reward was a necklace called “Source of Magic,” plus one thousand gold coins.
What Vivian didn’t expect was that the Evil God was still not satisfied and even asked the principal to pay first.
You could even play it like this?
This move left not only Vivian stunned, but even the old principal was dumbfounded.
“What! You want me to give you the necklace first?”
“I already said this isn’t giving it first—this is called a deposit. If I fail to meet the goal, I’ll return it,” Vivian corrected.
“Impossible! If the task isn’t completed, don’t even think about it!”
“If you don’t give me something as collateral, with your kind of behavior, I’m worried you’ll go back on your word!” Vivian refused to back down.
No joke—given how this game worked, Jiang Chen was certain this kind of thing could absolutely happen.
“You’re saying I, the principal of Saint Delan Magic Academy, would default on a little girl like you?” The old principal blew his beard and glared.
“Who knows… anyway, if you don’t give it, don’t expect me to do anything.” Vivian’s attitude was extremely firm.
At this moment, the old principal looked at Vivian with gritted teeth.
Too infuriating.
This young person was actually threatening him, a man over a hundred years old.
He took a deep breath.
“Fine! I can agree to your terms, but I have one condition—you must complete the task as soon as possible!”
Vivian nodded. “No problem.”
Hearing this, the old principal reluctantly took out a necklace from his magic ring.
This necklace looked similar to the platinum necklaces Jiang Chen had seen in jewelry stores, except that in the center hung a diamond-shaped blue crystal.
Through the crystal, one could vaguely see fluctuations of magical power.
After taking the necklace, an attribute panel popped up.
【Source of Magic (Necklace)】
【Quality: Exquisite】
【Attributes: MP +50】
“Not even a percentage bonus—barely better than nothing.”
For Jiang Chen, the attributes of this necklace weren’t particularly impressive.
But the rewards from climbing the tower were already high. Even without this quest, Jiang Chen would have gone anyway. With this task, it was simply extra income.
Seeing Jiang Chen accept the necklace, the old principal sat back down.
“As for matters related to the Blood-Colored Trial, after the entrance ceremony ends, you can go to the academy library and find the librarian. Tell him I sent you.”
“He will tell you everything.”
“Got it,” Vivian replied.
With their objective achieved, they didn’t stay any longer and prepared to leave with Lilith.
But just as they were about to go, the old principal called out to them.
“Wait…”
“Something else?”
“You two should be careful.” The old principal’s expression turned serious. “There are many people from other factions within the academy. They may act against you.”
“As for the Death Church, you should already know about them. You’ve already been targeted.”
“I can help you handle the Death Church. At least within Silvermoon City, they won’t dare act recklessly. But matters involving other students in the academy—you’ll have to deal with those yourselves.”
“Consider it a test from me!”
Hearing the principal’s words, Lilith’s expression looked worse than crying.
“Why am I so unlucky? It feels like I’ve been dragged into something really troublesome!”
“Waaah… I just wanted to latch onto someone strong and pass the academy assessment. How did things end up like this?!”
Compared to Vivian, Lilith felt like her world was collapsing.
Originally, she had only planned to pretend to be a fallen noble lady to enter the academy. That way, she wouldn’t be bullied by other nobles, could complete her studies in peace, and then make her way in Silvermoon City.
Of course, Lilith knew very well the consequences of failure. Before coming here, she had already prepared for the worst.
Lilith wasn’t someone who couldn’t accept losing.
If she failed, she would have no choice but to return home and inherit her father’s three estates, hundreds of acres of land, several breeding farms, and tens of thousands of livestock—living a miserable life from then on.
How was that any different from being dead!
So Lilith knew clearly that she had nothing—only by fighting with everything she had was there even a sliver of hope!
But who would have thought that right after arriving in Silvermoon City, she would cause such huge trouble?
Although Lilith knew that returning home to inherit the family business would feel like death, at least it wasn’t actual death.
But the things she was facing now could very well get her killed.
Still, hearing the old principal say that the Death Church wouldn’t dare act recklessly in Silvermoon City gave Lilith a bit of relief.
“Those other families probably wouldn’t actually kill us… right?” Lilith thought.
And then…
“You’ll handle the Death Church? Why would we need you for that? Old man, I advise you not to meddle!” Vivian’s voice rang out.
Lilith: ???
“Wait, Vivian, what are you saying?!” Lilith was on the verge of losing it.
“Miss Vivian, are you saying you want to handle the Death Church yourself?” the old principal asked uncertainly.
“Mm-hmm.” Vivian shrugged.
“Mm-hmm your head!” Lilith grabbed Vivian’s shoulders and shook her.
“Vivian, did water get into your brain?! The Death Church! Those are ruthless people—they will actually try to kill us!”
Lilith was on the verge of collapse. What exactly was Vivian thinking?
Did she really think that just because they had dealt with a few weaklings earlier, they could now stand against the Death Church?
The strength of the Death Church far exceeded Vivian’s imagination.
Even the group they had dealt with before didn’t count as official members of the Death Church—at most, they were peripheral members.
“Vivian, wake up, okay? The Death Church isn’t something we can fight right now.”
“Don’t worry. Even if I can’t win, I have ways to escape!” Vivian signaled for her not to worry.
“I’m not worried about you—I’m worried about myself, you idiot!”
…..
But clearly, Vivian didn’t see it that way.
Thus, under Lilith’s incredulous gaze, Vivian firmly told the old principal that she would handle the Death Church herself, before leaving with Lilith.
This operation naturally left the old principal fuming, blowing his beard and glaring.
The Death Church—normal people would avoid it at all costs.
Yet Vivian instead took the initiative to approach it herself.
