"But everything completely changed twenty-five years ago," the old woman wheezed, lost in her own tragic history, "Sect Master Yin Luo felt her Heavenly Tribulation approaching. She decided to attempt her breakthrough... But after she took on a quest of her own."
"None of us was worried. She was the strongest of us all. She had been on thousands of such quests before. And every time, it was just so easy."
"But this time when she returned, she met no one and was like a ghost as she went into seclusion inside the sect’s forbidden mountains."
"And she even chose her successor. She left the entire sect in the hands of that... that..." the old hag spat viciously, hatred flashing in her dull eyes, "A completely useless and stupid imbecile named Bai Hua! That highly useless, deeply vain bitch completely ruined everything!"
"Let me guess. She was useless?" Gu Fan sneered playfully, "Did she actively spend all the sect’s massive resources on expensive beauty pills and handsome male slaves?"
"Useless? That would have been a blessing." The old woman shook her head bitterly, "She was arrogant. She was greedy. She trusted handsome men more than loyal elders. She offended allies."
"Instead of expanding our sect’s influence, that imbecile obsessed over control of the sect, wasted our massive treasuries on her personal harem of pretty boys!"
"Because of her stupidity, within a decade our terrifying sect declined into a pathetic, broken shadow of its former glory!"
"Our assassins became mercenaries. Our mercenaries became bandits."
"And eventually..." She violently coughed up another massive puddle of blood, fighting for every breath as she looked up at Gu fan, " We started robbing caravans just to feed the disciples."
"Your Gu Clan tribute to the emperor..." she whispered, tears forming in her wrinkled eyes, "It was just of many caravans we robbed to actively support our dying sect and overthrow that useless bitch Bai Hua."
"So all of this..." Gu Fan looked at her, raising his eyebrows, "...was simply to keep the sect alive?"
"It was." The old woman nodded.
"Well, it was a very touching, and totally pathetic sob story," Gu Fan yawned loudly, stretching his arms. "But your internal female sect drama is none of my fucking business."
"Now, tell me exactly where the tribute is before I carve your wrinkly face into a bloody map."
"I will tell you," The old woman wheezed weakly, not really afraid of Gu Fan’s threats.
Her bony hands slowly reached into her dress, slipping her hand over her wrinkled breasts. "But you must promise me one thing, young master Gu Fan."
She slowly pulled out a beautiful dark purple jade token that was perfectly carved into the shape of a blooming orchid.
"This old one has one final request." The woman began to speak, but Gu Fan immediately interrupted her.
"No."
"I haven’t even asked yet." The woman looked at him hopefully.
"I know." Gu Fan wasn’t moved, "The answer is still no."
She sighed, "You really have no respect for elders."
"I do," Gu Fan replied instantly, "I am still standing here listening."
The woman went silent hearing him. She couldn’t argue with that.
"If..." After another moment she spoke quietly, "...if you intend to take everything... Leave something behind."
"You are incredibly strong, and you are ruthless," the old woman stated weakly, gripping the shiny jade tightly in her palms, "Do not abandon our sect. I beg you."
"Leave a small portion of the massive loot we have, and deliver it along with this elder token to the Nether Orchid Demonic Sect."
"You want me to give up my earned loot and even run errands for a completely broke evil sect?" Gu Fan scoffed loudly, staring at the old woman with pure disbelief, "I don’t do charity work, old cow."
"If you give this token to the inner court elders, they will treat you as the honoured guest of the sect."
"They can be useful to you as well," She begged desperately, painfully crawling forward on the cold ground, "They desperately want to execute Bai Hua, but they lack the resources to fund a massive rebellion! Just promise me you will actively deliver it, and I will open the hidden vault for you!"
Gu Fan’s green eyes actively narrowed as he quickly calculated the advantages of owning a favor from an entire evil sect full of highly desperate, completely lethal female assassins and the cons of even going there which again included him going from his dear mother’s chambers to Bai Bing and then satisfying Su Mei as well in just one night.
Well, it was all advantages in his eyes.
"This old one is begging you." When the old woman did not see Gu Fan reply and just stared at her, she pleaded again.
But Gu Fan remained silent. He could not agree right away. It was bad for the negotiations.
Soon several agonising breaths passed and the old woman was beginning to lose hope.
"Old cow!" Finally Gu Fan spoke, scratching the back of his head, "You are making this difficult."
"I know." the old woman nodded.
"You have spent the last ten minutes annoying me." Gu Fan continued.
"I know."
"You even told me your sect’s history when I only asked about the caravan." Gu Fan complained.
"I know." The old woman agreed with each and every word of his.
"Why do I have such a gentle heart?" Gu Fan sighed, dramatically throwing his arms in the air, "Fine!"
"Thank you!" The old woman looked at him with teary, grateful eyes.
"Don’t misunderstand. I am only agreeing because you are old, and asking nicely," Gu Fan was quick to clarify, "I am respecting your age."
The old woman’s tired face finally showed a small smile, "I know!"
"Don’t get the wrong idea," Gu Fan put his hand in front of her, "I don’t want to be rude."
"But you.." Gu fan looked at her from top to bottom and a sheepish smile formed on his face, "You are not exactly my type."
"I know!"
