Chapter 173: Dark magic
Mira blinked. "Excuse me?" She asked in a low tone.
Ming Tao let his fingers brush through his hair backwards as he let out an exhale. "I do not want you to," he thought of the right words. "End up traumatised and not saying a word because of me. I do not mind if you back out of this at all."
Mira tried not to frown. If she had not told him that, he would not have known a thing. She shrugged, she understood where he was coming from, Ming Tao was just trying to be a caring husband which she appreciated.
"I am fine Ming Tao, in fact, this makes me want to do this more than anything." Mira stated. Ming Tao stared at her for a while in case she wanted to change her mind. She did not look like she would change her mind. "So do you want to hear what I have to say or not?" Mira asked.
"Shoot." Ming Tao blurted out. Mira bit her lower lip and rolled her eyes subtly as a dirty joke came to her mind. Now was not the time, she reminded herself.
"Hye Yang started that rumour of me eating the beast people." Mira said flatly. "Now I think I am beginning to understand why. It is possible that she did that to cover her own tracks yet pin it on me. I never did such horrible thing." Mira said. Ming Tao felt his body hair stand as the horrid thought settled in his mind. His fists clenched and his jaw solidified.
"She did something that devious all for leaves?" Escaped Ming Tao’s lips, his voice voice was a deadly low. Those people were living beings being exchanged over silly things.
"It is just a speculation of mine but there is more." Mira added.
"Speculation?" Ming Tao voiced with a raised brow. Mira could see veins pop out of his neck and from his wrist due to his clenched fist.
"An assumption. It puts the pieces together so I am letting all of my thoughts out, even the ones that sound bizarre." Mira said to him.
Ming Tao’s lips formed a line. "So it will not be ruled out and we will call this a possibility." He stated.
Mira nodded. "Yes, that." Ming Tao looked pretty enraged hearing Hye Yang did the same thing Mira was rumoured to do for so long and Mira finally got a peak into the hatred Hye Yang had for her. Hye Yang had spent so long making the old owner of this body an evil mastermind yet nothing had been done to Mira. Hye Yang constantly had to work to prove her place and even after working so hard to get the attention she wanted, she never had it.
That was still no reason for her to be such a bitch, Mira said to herself, Hye Yang could have done a lot of things differently and lived with her life like a normal person. There were several beast men who would want to be with her, several ones with power as well, yes, they would not have the same status as Mira’s husbands did, but that was still a good life. But greed must have blinding Hye Yang from this of act and pushed her to be an ugly ratatouille. That woman sure knew how to cook evil!
"You still have not told me what you discovered about the leaves, Mira." Ming Tao murmured. This took Mira right out of her thoughts.
"Yes, that." She muttered. "These leaves are herbs banned from our region of the beast world. They can be used to make concoctions and mixes that when influenced by magic, would cause great harm." Mira said. "Abortion mixes for instance."
"And hypnosis charms." Ming Tao added.
Mira nodded. "That must have been what she used on you." Mira looked up to face the screen before her.. "But that is not even the worst part." She immediately added. "The leaves have uses that would normally be unimaginable. Outside trances, they can be used for curses. Like it could create a barrenness of beast people, animals and of the land. When coupled with several other things needed as sacrifice and a really powerful shaman, curses can be done." Mira said.
"What are you implying, Mira?" Ming Tao asked, he could not tell if there was something she was trying to tell him with these hints.
"Hye Yang was the reason the cheetah clan were suffering from a crisis." Mira dropped the bombshell.
Ming Tao’s brows furrowed. Mira noticed the sinister gaze darken around his eyes and she did not know if she should shop for a door with a padlock because Ming Tao looked like he wanted to storm out of here and strangle Hye Yang to death.
"You have to say this more plainly so I understand it, Mira."
Mira swallowed. She picked one of the leaves up. Because of system, the written spells were visible to her. "After the curse has been activated, the potion should be poured into the land subject to the bonded curse and the person who places the curse should say out these words while holding the soil in the land." Mira read. There was something imprinted on the leaves that she could not read but she did not even want to try to read it, it was a spell. "Hye Yang poisoned the cheetah clan for animals to want to live and grow. She wanted the cheetah clan to be in desperation for aid and be a hero. It must have been why she destroyed the farm the moment she knew the curse may have been lifted without her own involvement." Mira stated, even this sounded way too dark for her yet here she was living through what seemed like a fairytale.
And the worst part about this was, after Hye Yang made herself the saviour, she planned to blame Mira for the crisis that befell the cheetah clan. Every single plan was inscribed in these leaves pamphlets and every single thing was just a more hardened point that Hye Yang needed to die.
