Chapter 167: In this together

From the wall to the bed to every single part of the confinement in the room was tainted with the nasty acts of their love making. Ungentle. Rough. Just plain hard desire that tore at their minds as they devoured each other in turn till both their bodies could not take any more. Till the only thing that existed between them was nothing but the two of them and a well needed retirement after such long lasting activity.
Ming Tao woke up first. He stared at the woman sleeping by his side, still completely naked and marked all over with his bites. Some deep enough that his teeth marks were obvious on her skin and others less intense. It was fulfilling. Scary too, because he was afraid he had shattered her womb and ended their baby but it was fulfilling to see her completely passed out over a good time.
Ming Tao forced his body up the bed to sit up. His hand stretched up to his head and his fingers raked through his hair, pushing them backwards in one delayed motion. He let out a heavy sigh. Now he knew he would not have to hide anything from Mira but he could not deny that although it had barely been up to a day, not hearing any word back from the people he sent out was messing with his mind.
Anything could have happened. For all he knew, they could have been caught up in something deadlier than he could imagine and he would think they were simply carrying out the task. Ming Tao stood up and walked to the open window in his room. His body ached slightly and the end of his lips curled.
Mira was something else when she was pregnant. It was as if every single being in her body begged for more than just one child, well, as long as Ming Tao lived, he would never complain. In fact, it was his own little addiction, being wanted by her. Before, it was something he craved and now, she acted like she could barely keep her hands off him and it healed a lot of things she shattered in the past.
The shift of the wind caught Ming Tao’s attention and his gaze narrowed. He spotted something glint in the darkness of the night and as the thing embarked forward, he realised that it was headed his way. It was a bird, a black bird with shiny red eyes.
The bird made no noise and kept charging towards him. Ming Tao recognised this form of communication method so he stretched his hand out of the window slightly to welcome the bird.
In a short breath and heavy swoosh of wind, the bird landed on Ming Tao’s stretched out hand. Ming Tao noticed something tied to one of its foot. It was a stone, a small stone.
Ming Tao looked at the bird and used a finger to pat the top of its head. "Who sent you to me?" Ming Tao asked, of course he knew the bird could not answer, but unlike before where something would be attached to a messenger animal when delivering messages, this bird had none of it.
Ming Tao undid the tie on the bird’s foot then held the stone in his hand. Words were carved into the stone. Ming Tao squinted to read the words.
"Code received. The other animals habit my pack."
It was a message from Alpha Wolf Wei Jie. Ming Tao let out a sigh of relief. His cheetah brothers had made it there safely and Wei Jie allowed them to spend the night in his pack. And from the looks of it, Wei Jie probably knew why it needed to be a coded message so he did not send this bird with a branding. No one would suspect anything when a bird is flying in the air, so this was a smart thing to do. But Ming Tao needed to be sure that this message came from Wei Jie.
He ran his eyes all around his room to look for something sharp. Nothing inside his bed chambers was sharp enough to leave an engraving, hence, Ming Tao chose to use something else. His claw.
Ming Tao used a lazy finger to scratch other the message Alpha Wolf Wei Jie had carved on small stone then wrote something on it. Something only the five beast rulers of the clan would understand and respond to in a certain way. To anyone else, it would be an easy obvious answer but to them, it was something entirely different.
"Take this back to the one who sent you." Ming Tao said to the bird. He used his finger to pat the bird’s head and underneath its head before reaching for the bird’s foot to tie the stone. "Be good to me." Ming Tao added in a whisper before pushing his hand further out the window. The bird flapped its wings and flew away.
The next time that bird arrived here, Ming Tao would feed it a snack but for now, he had to wait for the confirmation that it was Wei Jie.
Ming Tao was indeed relieved though, at least, if this message came from the Alpha Wolf, then one of the tasks he needed to be done was in its early phase into being achieved and that was a good thing, how he had to wait for six more days for his other cheetah brothers. That seemed way too long but that would do.
Another sigh left Ming Tao’s lips as he stared out of the window into nothing. Soon enough, his clan would be free from the bad omen named Hye Yang and he would be able to properly be the perfect husband for his wife and soon to be family. He was itching for this to happen and quickly too.
"Did you leave?" Echoed softly from across the room. This made Ming Tao turn to the direction that voice beamed from. It was Mira, she was still laid on the bed with her hand stretched out to his side of the bed. Ming Tao could not help but grin, on the bright side, Mira slept through his encounter with the bird but he had barely been away from bed past a few minutes yet she already noticed.
"No, I’m right here." Ming Tao chorused. "I just stepped to get some fresh air from the window." He walked to the bed where Mira laid and sat.
"Come and lie with me." Mira called.
"Way ahead of you, my darling." Ming Tao laid on the bed and pulled her to him in a cuddle. Mira let her body relax onto his as she fell back into sleep. Ming Tao kissed the back of her head. "Tomorrow, we will go through Hye Yang’s things together. Get your rest, now, darling."
