Chapter 119: Ms Ava
Ava had thought she was slowly losing the only family she had....
But hearing Caleb talk about the fact that he had lost some significant piece of his memories when they crossed over to this world had almost broken her, and in the same breath, caused a huge wave of relief to wash over her.
She could only imagine what he might have been going through, holding all that in and acting like everything was fine.
She blamed herself, for she of all people should have noticed that something had gone terribly wrong earlier on. All the signs were there, and a lot of things started making sense to her now that she had heard from him.
It was almost scary for a while, and Caleb seemed more interested in other people, rather than being interested in her. The more she sought to understand and rekindle their connection in this new world, the more he seemed out of reach.
Caleb wasn’t just her family; he was more like her everything.
But she wasn’t sure he knew that....
However, what she was certain of was that he cares deeply about her, as she does him.
Now she just has to remind him of that.
Ava happily narrated to Caleb about their first meeting at the orphanage when they were only around the ages of five and six.
She told him of all the mischief they would get into and all the fun they shared growing up.
How they grew to bond with one another, deeper than what real families shared.
How Caleb, even though scrawny, would take on someone twice his size to defend her little self.
She told him of the time she turned fifteen, and how she was adopted by a loving family, leaving just Caleb alone in the orphanage.....
But they would still share letters and eventually messages on their phones about their day-to-day life.
Eventually, with equal efforts from both sides, they both made it into the same college just as planned... and even chose the same discipline.
But Caleb was different from other people....
He hated being around people in general.... except for Ava, that is.
With this understanding, he made Ava promise not to get him involved in any of her friend groups at school, while he took real effort to avoid everybody else.
And Ava, who understands Caleb’s personality the best, was more than happy to do so.
They would only converse through messages or when Ava comes over to his accommodations for their regularly scheduled catch-ups
At this point, only they knew individually what they held in their hearts for one another....
But they both understood that their relationship had crossed the boundaries of family or friend, and was deeply in the realms of something more.
Ava was quiet for a while, as if gathering her courage before she said her next words to ’Caleb’ ... while he accorded her his utmost concentration.
She tells him nervously that on one of her visits to his place ....
He had, out of the blue, suggested to her that, if after their college education was over, and they both still did not have a significant other, then it meant they were supposed to end up together, and they should do just that.
They made it a vow.... a promise.
Ava wasn’t sure if it was Caleb’s way of confessing his feelings....
And she also could not yet bring herself to tell him that there had only ever been one person for her.....
She also couldn’t tell him the things she had done behind the scenes because of him, and for him, both as a child and as an adult.
And of how different she knew she was from others.... Just like her Caleb.
And she still could not bring herself to say these things even with him by her side right now, for fear that she might scare him away.
So she only reminded him of the promise they had shared.
Ava observed curiously at Caleb’s reaction to her mention of the pact they had made with one another.
She was tense and feeling quite fearful that it might mean nothing to him, as he clearly doesn’t remember it.
Zorat, however, had thoughts of his own....
....childhood sweethearts... i see.
Makes sense....
That kind of bond could indeed grow to become so strong... It becomes attached to an individual’s soul.
The young man must have been head over heels in love with this one.... Just like she is with him....
Though hers would be bordering on unhinged obsession at this point, considering what type of person she is.....
Young human love.... How beautiful..... Hehehe...
Zorat smiled a little as he nudged his head to the side, looking at Ava’s side profile...
She does remind me of ’her’ actually.... How peculiar.....
They don’t even look alike.....
ah!.... So that’s what it is.
Zorat thought inside as he nodded on the outside before bringing back his attention to the young lady who was nearly staring holes into his face, appearing quite flustered and agitated for a response.
"I see...."
"So, the other time when you mentioned the promise... You meant..." Zorat muttered, and Ava, blushing, nodded her head slowly in affirmation.
They had vowed to one another to essentially start dating as soon as they were done with college, but now that there was no longer anything like college in their future going forward....
It stands to reason that they should be together now.
Only problem was, the real Caleb was not present at the moment, as far as Zorat could calculate, he might be in Zorat’s own dimension, potentially being used as a homing beacon by Lumrheal to zone in on Zorat’s current location.
But Zorat reasoned this was also for the best. For what he plans, accepting this young lady’s feelings and playing along would only serve to benefit him.
"Okay then...." Zorat muttered, smiling warmly at her as he added.
"What do you have in mind we do for our first... date ?" he added, looking meaningfully at Ava’s fancy gown ensemble with luxurious jewelry.
She looked quite resplendent, and after having heard all she had said, he understood that she must have come for their first date as a couple.
He was indeed right, because the blush on Ava’s cheek instantly spread down her small neck, with her shimmering milky white cleavages heaving faster in tandem with the rhythmic pulsations of her heartbeat.
Then she smiled softly in shyness, averting her beautiful, large blue eyes, now dry of all sad tears, to the side. Her smile was electric, causing even Zorat to pause in administration.
"Maybe...." she began in barely a whisper, fidgeting nervously with her crossed dainty fingers.
"I....I don’t know.... Maybe what people in..... relationships do?" she managed to add, blushing even more and casting furtive, heated glances up at Zorat.
"And what would that be, Ms Ava ?" Zorat teased in his sultry voice as he drew closer to her, their bodies finally making contact side to side on the mattress.
Ava looked up at Zorat with reddened cheeks and a heated gaze as she mumbled shyly....
"A ...A kiss maybe.."
Zorat watched her hurriedly turn her head to the side to hide her multiplying blush after saying those words.....
grinning, he reached out with his right hand to her chin....
Then turned her flustered face and glimmering blue eyes to slowly meet his as he whispered sultrily....
"It’s okay to want more..... Ms Ava"
