Chapter 77: The Hero Returns
On arrival at the palace gates, it became a hot debate as to where and with whom Myrra would be seeking accommodations.
Being a woman herself, it was only logical that she stayed with one of the other female heroes who had so generously offered to take her in, at least until the kingdom finds a placement for her after a proper investigation into her origins.
However, Myrra insisted she needed to stay with the person who had saved her the night before, citing that she felt safer that way.
After some back and forth with the vehement refusal of Azaria, uncomfortable reactions from Erica, and an almost murderous glare from Ava, it was finally agreed that Myrra would bunk with the hero of item box until something else was arranged.
The heroes dispersed, headed to their various abodes, nodding to final instructions from the knight commander that there would be a gathering the evening of the next day with the king and saintess, after they are well rested.
At this gathering, they would be addressing all the heroes on their last expedition and all that has been arranged for them going forward... like all the heroes before. She added that last part almost meaningfully before retreating.
The heroes soon dispersed as Myrra followed cautiously behind Zorat.
She had no idea what exactly Zorat had planned for her, and she’s quite perturbed about the whole thing, but she’s followed his instructions exactly to the letter all through, so she should be fine.
It also bothered her that everyone in the heroes party was acting so normal around this hero, and she almost immediately perceived the animosity the knight commander had towards the hero.
When she asked one of the other heroes about this, they told her it was probably because Caleb refused her training at the beginning.
She doesn’t buy that one bit; she felt it was deeper than that, and was already feeling quite pitiful for the knight commander who had no idea what she was actually dealing with.
Myrra herself doesn’t even have an idea what this Caleb is; all she knew was that as long as she did what he told her, everything seemed to be going swimmingly, and he was weirdly enjoyable to be around.
When he said he was going to use his sand control the other night to place surface injuries on her, she thought at first that this was just his excuse to torture her slowly and then finally kill her, just like he had done with the rest of her team.
But she was happy to find out that it was just as he had said to her; it didn’t hurt much, and all the wounds he dealt her to convince the party of her story were all just surface-level and were promptly healed by that healing light hero, who also appears to have a grudge against Caleb, though she doesn’t come out with it like the knight commander; she doesn’t even talk much to begin with.
It was obvious to her now that this hero wants her alive. But she has a feeling that the moment she stops being of use.... He would kill her.
Strangely, though, as she walked behind him, passing through the luxurious arrangements of the palace grounds, Myrra found herself feeling a lot less fearful than she should be, considering all she’d seen the previous night, and all this man had done....
Instead of being fearful of him... she wonders why she felt so safe in his shadow.
Still. Myrra wouldn’t be deluding herself into thinking she could ever be anything more to such an insane person.
She most definitely won’t be falling for him, that’s for sure. Myrra affirmed, nodding to herself in conviction as she trudged along behind Zorat.
Arriving in front of the Cabin, Zorat found Florielle seated on the porch; she seemed engrossed in a book she was reading, and as soon as she heard some movement, she perked her head up as her previously solemn expression instantly blossomed into a wondrous smile before leaping straight into Zorat’s arms....
Myrra, seeing this, was shocked beyond words. She expected the hero to be pissed off at a common maid jumping into the arms of and even hugging the hero so tightly.
It was very unconventional, but surprisingly, the hero made no comment about it and just calmly patted her head while she sobbed happy tears into his clothes.
"Lord hero... I thought... they said...at the dunge.." Florilelle sobbed, mumbling broken words as she hugged Zorat tightly.
Zorat could already tell what she was worried about as he assumed news about what happened at the duingeon must have reached the kingdom since Azaria sent a message.
He patted her back, telling her he was okay while his arms glided smoothly down her back before finding her round ass.
He squeezed gently, feeling the fullness and softness of her ass cheeks underneath the fabric as his palms melted into them. He patted them kindly, slapping lightly as they jiggled in consolation.
Zorat wasn’t one to miss such an opportunity to be naughty.
Hehehe. He grinned as he felt her succulent breasts pressed hard against his chest, her flowery scent enveloping and delectable. Her presence was always so strangely soothing to Zorat.
Realising what she had just done, Florielle immediately broke away from Zorat, bowing and apologising repeatedly for acting so out of place, but Zorat didn’t seem to mind, telling her to think nothing of it. Instead, he introduced her to the newcomer who had just been watching all this unfold with a complicated expression on her face.
He excused himself and left the two ladies to familiarize themselves. Floreille was, of course, extremely hospitable, showing Myrra extreme kindness and telling her with starry eyes of just how nice, warm, and kind her lord hero is.
Myrra concluded the young lady, though lovely, must have a few screws loose in the head.
Or she was probably brainwashed by the hero, since she’s been describing an entirely different person from who Caleb really is.
Still, she didn’t call her out on that and simply followed her around to get acclimated.
An extra mattress was provided, and the small cabin became a little less spacious, but more lively with the two ladies sharing their experiences in light conversation while Zorat began putting the finishing touches on how he was going to fuck Victor over.
At Zorat’s request, Florielle gave him the rundown on all the gossip she’s heard around the palace and the latest happenings since he and his heroes had been out.
And after filling Zorat in on everything, she had to leave for the night, since Myrra was now an occupant in the cabin. Both were of different stations; while Myrra was a guest, Florielle was a maid.
It was soon late into the night, and Zorat was just about to get some shuteye while Myrra was already sound asleep on the new mattress...
That’s when Zorat heard a knock on the cabin door...
Opening them, he found someone who, according to Florielle, should still be locked up inside a mansion...
Kaelara was at his door. And she didn’t look right.
