System Breaker: Surviving Apocalypse with Nine-Tailed Kitsune

Not long after finishing up his conversation with Ivy and Victor, Damon was back in his small bedroom, which he had been assigned when he returned to the Central Station.

Kitsune, in her true form, lay on the bed. The nightgown she wore left her long legs exposed, drawing attention to them with every glance, while her tails fanned behind her in soft motions, giving her an ethereal look.

Damon, on the other hand, sat opposite her on a narrow wooden chair, pondering over the new information he had received.

His initial plan was to leave first thing in the morning, but after learning about Eve’s proposal, that was no longer a viable option.

After all, he was the only person who actually knew her, and although he knew better than to trust her, he could still try to pry some information out of her.

But even despite any information he might be able to get out of there, they already had an answer to her question. They will use any help they can get, and if a random group joining them can help them capture the citadel, then that’s all that matters.

Suddenly, a soft shift of fabric broke the silence.

"So..." Kitsune’s voice cut through the room, smooth and amused. "Are you going to sit there all night, or are you finally coming to bed?"

She turned her head just enough to glance at him, her lips curving into a playful smile.

"I know there’s not much space, but we can make it work. I promise not to bite... more than once~"

Damon stood before she could continue her teasing any further.

"No. I have something else I have to do."

Kitsune rolled onto her back, propping herself up on her elbows, one brow lifting in clear curiosity.

"Something else?"

Damon paused for a moment before answering.

"I have a class to learn."

Moments later, Damon stood before a small wooden door. The narrow corridor was lined with dozens more like it, each set into rough wooden walls that had been thrown together to carve out living quarters for those staying at the station.

Damon, of course, wasn’t there by accident. With his sudden stay at the safety of the central station, it would’ve been a waste to simply spend the time sleeping.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

His knuckles hit softly against the wooden door, rattling it more than expected.

For a moment, there was nothing but silence until he heard hurried footsteps against the floor and a familiar voice come from the other side.

"Who is it?"

"It’s me, Damon."

"Boss?" Nyla exclaimed excitedly and swung the door open without thinking.

But as the wooden door opened up, Damon’s breath caught when he saw the girl.

She was wearing nothing but an oversized black t-shirt, leaving her legs fully exposed.

"Boss, what are you doing here?" She asked the moment the door opened up, but as she studied his expression for a couple of moments, she quickly realised her attire and slammed the door back in his face.

Her footsteps echoed from inside the room for no more than a minute before she opened the door once more, her face flushed but now wearing a pair of shorts which in truth didn’t cover much more than the t-shirt itself.

Cough!

Damon cleared his throat before speaking. "Sorry for the sudden visit. Since we have some spare time, I thought maybe we could do some training."

"Training?"

Damon opened his fist to show the rift shard he had received from the rift they had just closed.

"You mean-" the girl’s face lit up as she stepped aside to let him in. "Are you sure you’re okay with giving it to me? It’s a large rift shard."

Her words held a lot of truth to them. Unlike the small rift shards, which essentially had no use to Damon, large rift shards were different. He could use it to raise any of his stats by four. But more than simply raising one of his stats, there was something else he wanted to achieve more, comprehend the girl’s class.

With a faint smile on his face, he replied. "I’m sure."

After a moment of hesitation, the girl accepted the rift shard. Then, she also summoned the one she had received and placed the two of them on the floor beside her before taking a couple of slow breaths.

"Okay... here I go..." she murmured, more to herself than to Damon, as she called upon both of her abilities.

In an instant, both the furnace and her golden hammer materialised before her.

At the same moment, Damon’s Absolute Comprehension activated, studying the girl’s every move.

Nyla lingered for a moment, unsure how much metal to use, most certainly debating what kind of relic to go for before she finally grabbed three metal rods.

Then, after the flames of the furnace turned the three metal rods red-hot, the girl quickly pulled them out and raised her hammer above her head.

CLANG!

There was more force to her swing now, perhaps because of the recent level-ups, but also probably due to the larger amount of metal itself.

Damon frowned slightly, only now seeing something he hadn’t seen before. The way the metal was shaped, it wasn’t just the strikes of the hammer that were responsible for it, there was something else.

CLANG!

’Of course...’ Damon thought as he slowly began to notice the small sparks of mana which pushed against the ordinary metal.

The girl wasn’t just weaving metal with mana, she was actively manipulating mana to help shape the relic into whatever it was meant to become.

Nyla’s hammer continued to fall, again and again. It took far more effort than last time, but soon enough, the two large rift shards began to fade, and with them, Damon’s understanding of the whole process began to make sense.

CLANG!

A large burst of golden radiance erupted from the newly made relic as Nyla’s hammer rose and fell for the last time.

And at the same time, a loud notification cut through Damon’s head.
