Chapter 606: Conscious But Unable to Wake Up
Everyone was stunned once again.
"Father?"
"Grandfather?"
"Old Master Gu."
Gu Zhifeng’s family and a startled Gu Mingqiu all gathered around.
"Go, go, all of you, go. The little girl needs to rest." Old Master Gu pushed Gu Chi and Gu Yuan toward the door, then gestured for the others to leave.
Mrs. Dai and Gu Mingqiu exchanged a look, both noticing something was wrong with Old Master Gu.
"Father, do you know who I am?" Mrs. Dai moved closer.
Old Master Gu looked up. "You’re calling me ’Father,’ so who do you think you are?"
"Old Master Gu, do you recognize me?" Zhan Yi asked in surprise.
"Zhan brat, if you dare make fun of me, I won’t let you off easy." Old Master Gu snorted, appearing quite normal.
Doubt clouded Zhan Yi’s mind, and he looked at Dean Chen.
"Go on, what are you all standing around for? Once the little girl is rested, she has to play chess with me," Old Master Gu urged.
For a moment, even Dean Chen couldn’t figure out what was happening. After some thought, he said to the group, "Let’s go. We’ll take Old Master Gu to a side room first."
"I’ll... go get a doctor." Gu Zhifeng came to his senses and hurried out the door.
Gu Mingqiu and Mrs. Dai followed closely behind Old Master Gu.
Zhan Yi turned and helped Lady Zhan to her feet.
"I’m not leaving. I want to stay and watch over her," Lady Zhan murmured.
"My lady, let him be alone with the little girl for a moment. Just for a moment," Zhan Yi coaxed.
Lady Zhan glanced around, then allowed Zhan Yi to lead her out of the hall, sobbing quietly.
After leaving the hall, Zhan Yi had a maid help her back to her room. He himself went to the side room. Old Master Gu’s condition seemed poor; at his age, one feared the onset of madness.
In the blink of an eye, Sang Zhi was the only one left in the main hall.
Sang Zhi brought over a stool and stood on it, finally able to see the person inside the coffin.
The small, pale face stabbed at his eyes, making his heart ache to the point of suffocation.
He reached out and covered her small hand with his own, his tears flowing endlessly.
Ye Qianning’s consciousness was a muddle. Sometimes she was lucid, other times lost. She could hear many things but simply couldn’t wake up, as if her entire being was in a state of deep paralysis.
"BUZZ..." "RUMBLE..."
Her consciousness space suddenly began to tremble. The world spun, and her stomach churned violently as if she were about to vomit. After about a minute, her vision abruptly cleared.
The first thing she saw was her skyrocketing blessing points. She watched as the red bar of blessing points shot up, hitting the peak with a ’PING!’. Immediately after, a second bar also began to soar.
It quickly reached the top of the blessing points meter. Then, a mist appeared over the blank land. When it dissipated, two new plots of land were revealed before her eyes.
Faintly, an ethereal mountain range also appeared at the edge of the space. Why ethereal? Because she could only see it; she couldn’t actually walk over to it yet.
Ye Qianning turned her head to look at the newly appeared white bar for blessing points, then at the two plots of land that had just been cleared. ’I’ll need a lot more blessing points for the mountains to become solid.’
’Still, having my blessing points max out twice in one go is shocking enough. No wonder my consciousness cleared up in an instant.’
She didn’t have time to examine the two newly opened plots of land or the record book. She closed her eyes, trying to leave the space, but found she couldn’t wake up at all.
It seemed her Divine Sense within the space couldn’t control her physical body. Every time she tried to get out, she was blocked by an invisible force.
Whenever she got close, she would feel a resistant force.
"Don’t tell me I actually died just like that," Ye Qianning muttered to herself.
After being pierced by an arrow on Four-direction Mountain, her consciousness had remained relatively clear. She was aware of everything that happened. On the way back to Four-direction Mountain, she began to fall into a deep sleep, and about an hour ago, she had started to feel groggy again.
