Chapter 128: He didn’t sleep with me right?
Suddenly, fragments of memory came rushing back, slicing through Gabe’s mind.
Romeo joining him and Alex for drinks... Alex agreeing far too easily... the strange tension hidden behind Romeo’s charming smile... and then nothing but darkness.
Fuck. This bastard. Gabe muttered inwardly, his jaw tightening as fury flared across his face.
A low chuckle broke the silence.
"Oh... you’re awake, Angry Bird," Romeo drawled lazily.
The blanket slipped from his body as he stood up from the bed, utterly unbothered by his nakedness. He stretched deliberately, as though he had all the time in the world, before strolling toward the door slowly.
Damn it... he didn’t sleep with me, right? Of course he didn’t. My body doesn’t hurt. He’s just trying to mess with my head. He’s naked on purpose to make me think he had his way with me.
Rage overpowered the last remnants of panic.
Without wasting another second, Gabe jumped out of bed and stormed toward him.
"Answer me right now!" Gabe snapped, his voice trembling with anger despite his effort to sound composed. "I know you’re dangerous, Romeo. I’ve always known. That’s why I’ve been careful around you. But I never thought you’d actually drug me. Fool me like this!"
His fists clenched at his sides, nails digging into his palms.
"Where’s Alex?" he demanded sharply. "And what happened between us last night? Answer me!"
Romeo paused mid-step and turned around slowly, amusement flickering in his eyes as if Gabe’s anger entertained him.
"Oh?" he mocked, deliberately letting his gaze drop and sweep over Gabe. "So you can actually walk now? I thought you were crippled."
He tilted his head slightly, studying Gabe as if he were a curious specimen.
"Tell me... are you pretending because of Alex?" Romeo continued smoothly. "That pathetic loser?" His smile widened. "Or are you pretending to gain sympathy from me?"
Gabe’s jaw tightened so hard it hurt.
"And are you aware," Romeo added casually, taking a slow step closer, "that he’s deceiving you too? He’s not as rich as he claims to be. You should know that especially considering you specialize in preying on wealthy men."
"Shut the fuck up!" Gabe barked, his voice echoing in the room. "I don’t care about that. Where is Alex?"
Before Gabe could react, Romeo suddenly grabbed him by the neck....not tight enough to choke, but firm enough to assert dominance. He shoved Gabe backward.
Gabe’s back hit the wall with a dull thud, the impact knocking the breath from his lungs.
Romeo leaned in close, his warm breath brushing against Gabe’s face. The playful expression was gone. In its place was something colder. Darker.
"You should think very carefully before yelling at me," Romeo said quietly, his voice low and dangerous. "Especially if you want that precious Alex of yours to stay alive."
Gabe’s heart skipped.
Romeo’s grip tightened slightly, not painful, but threatening.
"Tell me," Romeo demanded, his eyes darkening as jealousy bled through his composure. "Are you sleeping with that bastard? Did you choose him over me?"
"And how is that any of your business?" Gabe shot back, refusing to look away. "What’s wrong, Romeo? Haven’t you learned your lesson yet?"
Romeo’s expression flickered for a brief second.
"I showed you love, Gabe," he said, his voice lowering, almost wounded but the possessiveness beneath it was unmistakable. "And you betrayed me. But I’m not even angry about that anymore. I forgave you. I let it go."
He leaned closer, his tone turning intense.
"But one thing I cannot stand," Romeo continued, "is seeing you with someone else while I’m still here. You should know by now that anyone you choose over me doesn’t end up well."
A dangerous promise lingered in his words.
"I want you back," he said firmly. "I don’t care if you’ve been intimate with Alex. End it with him. Now. Come back to me."
Gabe laughed bitterly.
"I don’t need your forgiveness, Romeo," he replied coldly. "And just so you know, I never loved you. Not even once."
Romeo’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"I was with you because of your money," Gabe continued without hesitation. "I needed your connections. You and my other sugar daddies. I used you all to continue building my own company. And now that I’ve gotten what I needed from you all... we’re done. Understand?"
His voice was steady now, fueled by defiance.
Romeo stared at him for a long moment before a slow smile curved his lips again.
"You can start loving me now," Romeo said calmly. "I told you....I’ve forgiven you."
He stepped back slightly but didn’t release him entirely.
"Fine. Maybe you’re not with Alex for money," Romeo went on mockingly. "Obviously, he doesn’t have any. So what is it then? He must have something you’re benefiting from. A big dick, maybe?"
His eyes glittered with cruel amusement.
"You don’t get involved with someone unless you’re gaining something," Romeo continued. "So yes, I’ll assume that’s it. But here’s the thing....I have money. I have power. I have a huge dick and you know that. And I have everything he has... and more."
He leaned in again, voice dropping.
"So tell me, Gabe... who’s the better choice? Me or Alex? Honestly, someone like him shouldn’t even be my rival. He’s not on my level."
"Just cut the crap," Gabe snapped. "Where is Alex? That’s all I want to know."
Romeo raised an eyebrow, then burst into dark laughter.
"Are you not afraid I’ll expose you?" he taunted. "Tell him how you juggle multiple sugar daddies? How you manipulate rich men like pieces on a chessboard?"
Gabe’s silence was answer enough.
"Poor Alex," Romeo continued, shaking his head dramatically. "He even proposed to you in one of your sugar daddy’s companies, no less. Trying to prove how deeply he loves you."
He smirked.
"He doesn’t know the kind of person you are, does he? What do you think will happen when he finds out?"
Romeo’s tone turned sharper.
"And your ex-husband in prison," he added, eyes narrowing. "He doesn’t even know you’re rich. Just like I didn’t. You pretended to be pitiful so you could scam me more efficiently."
Gabe’s chest rose and fell heavily.
"I scammed you," Gabe said finally, his voice trembling not with fear, but with fury. "Yes. I did."
He shoved Romeo’s hand off his neck.
"But do you think I kept that money for myself?" he demanded, eyes blazing. "Do you think I’m living some extravagant, selfish life?"
Romeo didn’t respond.
"The money you and the others hoard," Gabe continued, stepping forward now, reclaiming his space, "was stolen from ordinary citizens. Corruption. Exploitation. Greed."
His voice cracked with emotion.
"I took it back."
He swallowed hard.
"My pharmacy chain....do you think the medicine is cheap for no reason? Do you think free surgeries and treatments just magically happen?"
His eyes glistened, but he refused to look weak.
"That’s where the money goes. Free operations. Subsidized drugs. Helping families who can’t afford basic healthcare. That’s what I used the money for."
He exhaled shakily.
"So yes, maybe I didn’t tell Alex everything yet," Gabe admitted quietly. "But I will. When the time is right, he’ll know the truth."
He met Romeo’s gaze without flinching.
"And when he does, he’ll understand."
Romeo clapped slowly, mockingly.
"Bravo," he said with exaggerated admiration, giving Gabe a theatrical round of applause. "Truly inspiring."
His lips curved into a cruel smile.
"But the truth remains....you’re still a cheap whore."
The insult was delivered casually, almost lazily, as if it were an obvious fact.
"You stole money from those so-called sugar daddies by spreading your legs and offering your ass to them," Romeo continued coldly. "So, really, it was a win-win situation for them, wasn’t it?"
He stepped closer, his voice lowering into something uglier.
"The money you ’stole’ can easily be considered payment for services rendered. They drilled you, and you walked away with cash. Sounds like fair trade to me."
A sharp, malicious laugh burst from him.
"So in the end, you lose, Gabe."
Gabe didn’t flinch outwardly.
Only if you knew the truth, Romeo, Gabe thought inwardly, a faint, dangerous chuckle echoing in his mind. I was the one in control. Not you all.
His lips twitched slightly, almost imperceptibly.
You were different though, he continued silently. I only let it happen once with you... because you left more of an impression than the others. I only had sex with you once but other guys had sex with you countless times without you even knowing.
He exhaled slowly through his nose.
And what will you do when the disease they passed to you start surfacing? When your own body begins betraying you?
You call me cheap, but you and your friends are the real filth. This was never about money alone. It was revenge for the countless omegas, male and female, you and your associates raped and destroyed.
Gabe’s chest tightened, but his expression remained calm.
You’re still walking freely because you’ve never crossed the line into murder, he continued in his thoughts. You operate in the secret....dirty deals, exploitation, manipulation. But one day, you’ll either end up in jail or be killed.
