Monsters Die When Killed

Chapter 76 - 44: A Solitary Justice (4)

But it didn’t get the chance.

"Rest in peace."

A violet-blue light flashed in his eyes. Su Zhou raised his Long Spear and thrust it forward, piercing straight through ’Li Zhi’s’ skull.

It was clear that the middle-aged man’s body was already undergoing various mutations. Deformed strips of flesh and arthropod-like limbs had burst through his clothes, scraping against the floor. His slightly chubby frame had begun to transform, on its way to becoming the most hideous Monster imaginable, born from the host’s own mind.

A Monster like this didn’t die even with a spear through its head. It was still struggling, squirming, using its hardening, deformed flesh to saw at the ropes, desperate to break free.

"And you... you can die a miserable death!"

Spiritual Light flared in his palm. Without a shred of hesitation, Su Zhou let go of his spear and grabbed the immobilized Monster’s head, pinning it firmly in place.

By now, the Dusk True Demon’s mutated body had nearly broken free of its bindings. The black qi coiling around it was beginning to overwhelm the light of the Array.

But now, an incandescent Demon Fire and a sacred radiance erupted from the Cross Spear head embedded in the True Demon’s body. It blazed to life, and like a flame igniting natural gas, it instantly devoured all the black Demonic Qi, converting it into fuel!

A holy mist, the Purification Orbit, and the raging Demon Fire—these three forces, sustained by a ceaseless flow of Spiritual Power, enveloped the True Demon’s entire body. Before it could finish its transformation, they burned it into a blackened, desiccated corpse.

BOOM!

After losing all signs of life, the desiccated corpse seemed to try and self-destruct. But the Mercury in the Purification Array flared with Spiritual Light. It rose up as if it had a life of its own, completely enveloping and sealing the corpse. It suppressed all the black qi that tried to burst out, forcing it back into the range of the violet-blue Demon Fire, where it sizzled and hissed under the intense heat.

The black qi dissolved; the demonic nature was incinerated.

Before long, in utter silence, even the True Demon’s last vestiges of Spiritual Energy were completely extinguished.

And just like that, a black ball of light, as large as a man’s fist, appeared in the hands of Su Zhou, who stood there in silence.

[Evil Soul of the Dusk True Demon]

[The Soul of a Dusk True Demon that had not yet been fully born]

[An Evil Soul containing the destructive power of a demonic nature]

[Use: Slightly increases all-around mental resistance and fortifies Soul fortitude.]

[Can also be converted into a ’Mad Spirit’ Enchantment via Spiritual Refining and applied to any piece of equipment or item.]

[Dusk True Demons are an inducement from the Void.]

[All Transcendents who attempt to escape death are their natural enemies.]

"Yara, these True Demons... is it possible to kill them all?"

After a long silence, Su Zhou clutched the black Evil Soul—the first he had ever hunted—but felt no joy. He quietly posed the question to his Contractor.

"Perhaps."

The Snake Spirit replied softly, her tone thought-provoking. "At the very least, the total number of them that can enter the mortal world cannot be infinite."

"Good enough."

His voice rang with unshakable resolve. Su Zhou gripped his Long Spear and pulled it from the True Demon’s ashen remains. He turned, spear in hand, as the corpse disintegrated into dust behind him. A spherical, blood-red crystal fell to the floor, rolling away with a soft CLATTER.

The Superpower User, who had once looked forward to ’change’ but now clearly understood its ’price’, stared out the sunlit window. Behind him lay a shadow filled with blood and death.

"I will hunt every last Monster," he said, declaring his intent. "With this spear in my hand, in the name of the Evil-Devouring Demon Lord, this hunt will continue for all eternity."

"Until the End of all Demons."

This is a planet where humans and Demon Fiends coexist.

Evil Gods corrode the world through their Clans. Demons from the Dusk lurk within human bodies, toying with minds from inside the shadows.

Meanwhile, visitors from outer space and Otherworlds hide among the populace, observing this mad world.

Su Zhou, an ordinary student, stumbled upon a ritual held by a Mysterious Organization during his travels.

Due to certain unforeseen events, he gained the ability to grow stronger by devouring Souls.

From that day forward, he swore an oath to hunt the Souls of Evil Demons and Sinners.

When facing any existence that could be called an ’Evil Demon’, he doesn’t mind using the most wicked of methods, nor does he care what anyone thinks—be it torture, traps, ambushes, or surprise attacks.

He will do it all without a moment’s hesitation, to become stronger, for the sake of...

Justice.

In the name of his own justice, he devours evil.

Unlike the common exorcists scattered across the globe, he is this world’s one and only ’Evil God Hunter’.
