Chapter 260: Feeding Pigs
"Isn’t Song Zijin your husband? You went to so much trouble to snatch him, so why are you giving him away?"
Although Sheng Shiwen was disappointed in his sister, he couldn’t just stand by and watch her get hurt by Song Zijin.
If his ribs and kneecaps weren’t still healing, he would’ve gotten up and beaten Song Zijin to a pulp.
"I didn’t know back then how moody Song Zijin was. He’s just a pretty face, but he’s not a real man."
"Not a real man? What does that mean?" Sheng Shiwen had never had a girlfriend, so he didn’t understand what Sheng Yueyue was implying.
"Sigh. It means he’s all looks and no substance. Everything I’ve been through is because the Gu Family wouldn’t help me.
If the Gu Family had come to my wedding, Song Zijin never would have done what he did."
"What does that have to do with the Gu Family?" Sheng Shiwen was confused by his sister’s explanation.
"How can you be so dense! It’s because Song Zijie recovered from his illness, so that old geezer from the Song Family started grooming him to take over.
That’s why Song Zijin wanted to use our Sheng Family’s and the Gu Family’s connections to get back in the old man’s good graces."
Sheng Shiwen: ...He still didn’t get it.
But he couldn’t let his own sister, who had just come back from a pig farm, look down on him. So he nodded, pretending to understand.
"The Gu father and son are also good at hiding their true colors. That damn old man is actually a professor at the Imperial City’s most prestigious university.
Song Zijin said the old man has former students everywhere and a massive network, which would be a huge help to his future.
But that old geezer is stubborn as a mule. We went to ask him twice, but he refused to acknowledge me."
"You can’t really blame them. You were the one who disowned them first."
"Second Brother, are you trying to kill me with anger? *Sob, sob...* My head hurts so much~~"
"Yueyue, I’m sorry. I misspoke. Please don’t cry. Mom will be here with our food any minute."
"Hmph. Help me one more time, and I’ll let it slide," Sheng Yueyue said haughtily.
"How can I help you?"
"That bitch Gu Jiaojiao won’t listen to Mom, and she won’t listen to the two of us. The only person that bitch will listen to is Dad."
"Right."
"Tell Dad you haven’t seen that bitch in a while and that you miss her. Once she comes to the hospital, we can make our move."
"Yueyue, does Song Zijin know about this plan? I still don’t think Gu Jiaojiao is good enough for Song Zijin.
If Song Zijin finds out we’re the ones who set him up with Gu Jiaojiao, won’t he hate you even more?"
"He won’t. He’ll only thank us. He’ll even treat me better out of guilt."
Sheng Yueyue said angrily, too embarrassed to tell her blockhead of a brother that Song Zijin would call out that bitch’s name when they were being intimate.
She liked the idea of Song Zijin’s future success and his wealth, but she preferred He Aijun’s powerful physique.
’If Song Zijin gets together with Gu Jiaojiao, he probably won’t care who I’m with in the future.’
’Besides, Su Shuochi is impotent, so that bitch is still... I can’t just let someone else have her.’
"Alright then. When Dad gets here after work, I’ll tell him. That ungrateful wretch has no sense of loyalty. I’ve been in the hospital for so long, and she hasn’t even come to see me once."
"Exactly! That ungrateful wretch is a real piece of work. You were so good to her, and now that you’re in the hospital, she doesn’t even visit."
Sheng Yueyue loved to fan the flames. It never occurred to her that if she hadn’t been put in the hospital by Song Zijin, she wouldn’t have visited Sheng Shiwen’s room either.
"Let’s not talk about her. Yueyue is the one who’s good to me." Normally, he had no one to talk to during the day, but for the past two days, his sister had been constantly popping into his room.
"If I’m not good to you, Second Brother, who should I be good to? Hee hee..."
"KNOCK, KNOCK. Yueyue, what are you and Xiao Wen talking about in there? You even bolted the door."
Mrs. Sheng came over after work. When she didn’t see her daughter in her room, she went to ask her son, only to hear her daughter’s laughter from the doorway.
"Mom, what goodies did you bring today? Second Brother and I are starving~"
Sheng Yueyue’s eyes landed on the insulated container in her mother’s hand. She really was hungry; she’d been so excited earlier that she hadn’t even noticed.
"You little glutton, all you think about is food. I brought some chicken soup from Aunt Wang to help you recover, and some stir-fried pork with green peppers."
Seeing that her daughter was no longer weepy, Mrs. Sheng felt a great sense of relief.
She happily ladled out some chicken soup for Sheng Yueyue, and then poured a bowl for her second son as well. "Xiao Wen, you have some more chicken soup too."
"Thanks, Mom. You should have a bowl, too. Look at you, you’ve lost weight recently."
"I won’t have any. I’m leaving it for you two. Xiao Wen, you need to talk some sense into your sister. She’s still young and naive..."
Seeing her daughter eating with such gusto, Mrs. Sheng lowered her voice to speak to her second son, assuming it was thanks to Xiao Wen that her daughter had stopped crying.
Sheng Shiwen felt the bowl of chicken soup was scalding hot in his hands. ’How could he not see what his mother was thinking?’
’Unfortunately, he couldn’t take any credit for it. Yueyue was only happy because she was plotting against Gu Jiaojiao.’
’Deep down, Sheng Shiwen felt that giving Gu Jiaojiao to Song Zijin would be a blessing for her.’
’Jiaojiao had liked Song Zijin since they were kids. Doing this would just be fulfilling one of her wishes.’
’Plus, it would make Yueyue happy. It was a win-win situation, so why wouldn’t he go along with it?’
Sheng Shiwen, having rationalized it this way, drank his chicken soup with a clear conscience. He tentatively asked his mother, "Mom, that ungrateful wretch Jiaojiao... she hasn’t come to the hospital to see me?"
"Why bring her up? Don’t mention her in front of Yueyue again. It’s just bad luck."
Mrs. Sheng said heatedly. She thought it would be best if Gu Jiaojiao never showed her face around them again.
She didn’t even know that Gu Jiaojiao hadn’t been in the residential compound for a long time. Her heart and mind were completely occupied by her biological daughter.
She barely had time to think about her own son, let alone an adopted daughter. In the past, she would occasionally hear news about the Gu Family from her husband.
But ever since all the drama on her daughter’s wedding day, her husband had been giving her the cold shoulder, so she was completely out of the loop.
"Mom~ How can you say that? You and Dad raised her, after all. Shouldn’t she at least come visit Second Brother? Why don’t you tell Dad to have her come see him? Please~"
"Alright, alright. As long as it makes my Yueyue happy, Mom will talk to your father tonight and tell him to have her come see you both tomorrow."
"Mom~ I’m just worried she won’t agree to come." ’Sheng Yueyue was cackling internally. With her mother getting involved, that bitch would definitely show up.’
"How dare she refuse? I’ll go to the Su family right now and drag her over myself," Mrs. Sheng said, full of confidence.
’She felt she was doing Gu Jiaojiao a favor just by summoning her. Hadn’t Gu Jiaojiao once cried and begged them to treat her a little better?’
Gu Jiaojiao, of course, had no idea about the ridiculously self-important Mrs. Sheng, much less that Sheng Yueyue was plotting against her again.
She was currently watching the dozen or so pigs being raised by Mrs. Zeng and two other women. The two women were carrying buckets of swill, ready to pour them into the feeding trough.
The month-old piglets were plump and chubby. At the sight of food, they scrambled over one another, jostling to get to the front.
One of the women set down her bucket of swill, calmly walked over, and shooed the piglets away so the other woman could pour the feed.
When one of the pigs was grabbed, it let out a terrified SQUEAL, its four hooves kicking frantically...
