She wiped the tear stains from her face with a handkerchief, took a few steps forward, and looked at Shen Yanchuan with shimmering, tear-filled eyes.

As she spoke, she moved as if to kneel.
However, in the next instant, a cold and indifferent male voice sounded, causing her to freeze in place.

Stunned, Ye Shixian looked up, only to see Shen Yanchuan standing with his hands clasped behind his back. He turned his head slightly and swept his gaze over her.
That single glance was profound and unfathomable, cold and utterly indifferent.
His dark eyes were like an unfathomable abyss, concealing every ripple of emotion within, allowing no outsider to see even a hint of it.
The blood in Ye Shixian’s veins seemed to freeze, and her limbs went ice-cold.
His dismissive glance clearly said—

’The Han Family is in trouble. Why would they need an outsider like her to plead on their behalf?’

Ye Shixian instinctively looked over. The moment she saw the familiar, hunched figure emerge, something inside her mind snapped.
The man was a wretched sight. If it wasn’t Han Yao, who else could it be?
Flanking him were two women, one on each side.
The woman on the left was visibly pregnant, her pretty face pale and disheveled. It was none other than Su Pei’er.
And the one on the right was her young maid.
As they drew closer, the crowd realized that Han Yao was still unconscious. The mistress and her maid were supporting him, having somehow managed to drag him out of the inferno!
The great fire had clearly terrified them. They walked with vacant eyes and expressions of utter panic.
Ye Chutang was the first to approach them.
Upon seeing her, Su Pei’er’s face lit up with relief, as if she had just seen her savior.
The young maid burst into tears outright.
"Doctor Ye! You’re really here! I knew it, I knew it! I knew you’d come back for us!"
