My Second Marriage with the Mafia Kingpin

Chapter 152: The Person Who Birth You

"Hm?" Primo woke up, only to find it was still dark.

He rubbed his eyes and sat up, quietly swinging his legs off the bed. But when he stood, he realized this was no longer his bedroom in the mansion. The bathroom was downstairs.

Having adjusted to this smaller place, Primo quietly made his way down. Once he reached the floor, he paused and turned toward the living area.

A faint crease formed on his brow when he saw Ashley and Lucian sleeping on the couch.

Curious, the little boy approached them. Lucian had fallen asleep seated, his head resting on his knuckles, his elbow propped on the armrest.

Ashley, meanwhile, was sprawled across him—her head resting on a pillow on his lap. One leg draped over the backrest, the other stretched out onto a footstool. Her mouth was slightly open, snoring faintly.

It looked like a scene straight out of a movie; drunkards passed out after a long night.

Why did they sleep here? he wondered, knowing they had all gone to bed at the same time.

Did they watch another movie?

Primo pursed his lips, studying the sleeping duo. They looked exhausted. Little did he know, the two had kept everyone awake all night with their chasing game, only to collapse onto the couch once they returned home.

I wonder if he asked her, he thought, reaching for a soft wool blanket and gently pulling it over Ashley’s shoulder.

He then glanced at his father, who slept peacefully despite the awkward position.

Wouldn’t his neck hurt?

"Hmm? Primo?"

Primo flinched when Ashley’s soft voice broke the silence. Turning, he saw her blinking her sleepy eyes open.

"What are you doing here...?" Ashley rubbed her eyes as she pushed herself up, only to realize she had fallen asleep in the living room. Then she noticed Lucian.

Not dwelling on it, she turned back to Primo. "Primo, what time is it? Why are you here?"

Still half-asleep, she assumed it might already be time for school. Meanwhile, Lucian stirred as well, his eyes cracking open slightly at the sight of her sitting up and Primo standing before them.

Primo signed, [Bathroom.]

"Bathroom?" she murmured, checking the time. "I see. Come, I’ll take you."

Without much thought, Ashley took his hand and led him to the bathroom.

As for Lucian, he checked the time. It was still early.

Unlike Ashley, who had been roused by Primo, Lucian gazed on the lights leading to the bathroom.

He sighed, already feeling a bit worried this early in the morning.

When Ashley and Lucian woke again, she brought Primo back to his room to make sure he could sleep a little longer. After that, the two of them returned to their bedroom for more rest.

When morning came, Ashley saw them off as usual.

"Primo, I added extra portions so you can share with your friends," she said with a grin, squatting in front of him, her apron tied neatly like a uniform. "I noticed you finished all your lunch and snacks yesterday."

Primo nodded, holding his lunch bags. Then he looked at Lucian.

"We’re off," Lucian said, and Ashley nodded, waving them goodbye.

It was only the second day, but father and son moved in sync. Lucian opened the car door, and Primo climbed into the front passenger seat. Then Lucian buckled him in.

Once done, Lucian paused, recalling Ashley’s words from the night before.

Can you just love me?

A faint smile tugged at his lips, enough for Primo to glance at him curiously.

"Give me a second," Lucian said, stepping out and closing the door.

"Hmm?" Ashley tilted her head as she saw him walking back. "Did you forget something?"

Lucian nodded as he approached. His arm slid around her waist, pulling her closer. She flinched, her hand instinctively landing on his chest.

"I forgot this," he said huskily before lowering his head and placing a soft kiss on her lips.

Ashley’s eyes widened in shock. Nearby, Nolan—who had been "busy" sweeping the already spotless street—froze mid-motion. Across the street, the five bums nearly choked on their coffee.

Meanwhile, Primo watched through the rearview mirror. From his angle, he could only see Lucian’s back and a glimpse of Ashley’s hand.

He furrowed his brows, tilting his head.

Satisfied, Lucian pulled back. "See you later."

Ashley blinked rapidly, struggling to maintain eye contact.

"Uh..." She nodded instinctively, watching as he let her go and returned to the car.

Her heart pounded wildly in her chest, her breathing uneven. Her cheeks burned as she touched them with the back of her hand.

"Goodness, why would he—" she cupped her cheeks, then turned to Nolan, who was watching her with an odd smile. She quickly looked back at the car driving away and scoffed.

"Is he actually a player?" she muttered. "Goodness. I didn’t see that coming."

Honestly, Lucian had become more unpredictable lately. It wasn’t like she had forgotten their conversation last night, but she certainly didn’t tell him to kiss her before heading to work.

"It’s not that I hate it," she murmured, a smile creeping onto her lips.

"Good morning, Madam." Nolan finally approached with his usual polite smile. "It seems the exercise last night helped."

"What exercise?" she asked, then gasped. "Nolan, no! How could you—we didn’t do it! Goodness!"

"Huh?"

"Tsk," she clicked her tongue, already turning away. "Goodness. This is why we don’t have any privacy anymore. Kissing me like that."

And shouting about their bedroom problems in the street.

Confused, Nolan tilted his head. "Madam... that’s not what I meant..." he sighed, shaking his head.

Meanwhile, Lucian and Primo drove in silence.

Like the day before, traffic heading to the school was heavy. Their car still stood out, but everything moved at a snail’s pace.

"Primo," Lucian broke the silence, though Primo kept his gaze on the window.

Lucian didn’t continue right away. His eyes remained on the road as if weighing his words carefully. He had been thinking about this all night, and even earlier that morning when Primo woke them.

Silence stretched until the car finally reached the drop-off point.

Lucian turned to him, watching as Primo unbuckled his seatbelt. When the boy reached for the door, Lucian finally found the courage to speak.

"Do you want to see... the person who gave birth to you?"
