Gigolo Diaries

Chapter 39: Aftermath 2

Elaine felt her legs grow weak as she faced the dead end. Her fingers clenched into a fist and her brain ran in circles. The ice above her creaked even harder, but she couldn’t let that distract her. Lain might have been able to brute force her way through the mountain, but Elaine’s power was different.

After all, ice was meant for creation, not destruction. But with Lain incapacitated, she had to improvise.

Her fingers ran along the wall, strengthening the makeshift fortress. But for how long could she keep this up, it was impossible to tell.

With her ability to replenish nexus crippled, she was literally running on emergency fumes.

Elaine also seemed to notice this as she let out a frustrated sigh.

She reached for her necklace, breaking it off her neck. In the middle of the chain was a colourless crystal that shimmered with a blue light.

She hesitated for a moment. But the increasing frequency of cracks appearing all over the fortress motivated her.

With a powerful squeeze, she shattered the crystal in her hand, and at that same moment. A voice sounded in her head.

"You have aborted the mission, initiating the Emergency Escape protocol.

"Do you wish to be directly transferred or for a portal to be created?"

"Create a portal. And do it fast."

"At your command, Captain."

Immediately, the air around her stirred and tiny cracks began to appear in the space before her, the cracks stretched and then opened revealing an entirely different landscape.

Elaine’s fingers tightened on Eros’ cocoon. She was just about to jump through when the sword, still stuck into the glass orb, began to pulse.

Elaine frowned, but went towards it nevertheless. She pulled the sword out of the glass orb and it began to vibrate happily.

She took a good look at it. However, instead of the ordinary runes she expected to find, she noticed the patterns were familiar.

"This looks familiar—"

"Captain, I advise you enter the portal as soon as possible."

Elaine hesitated, then peeled her gaze off the weapon and ran toward the portal. Whatever the weapon was she could inspect it in the future.

The moment she jumped through the portal, she had effectively abandoned the mission, and she knew what that meant. But this was the best path she could take as the only other option would be to let Eros die.

Even now, his survival wasn’t guaranteed. But at the very least he was out of danger’s reach. She planned on having the best healers attend to him back at her base.

As for now though, she had handed the rest of the mission to Rachel and the crew.

"Bzzz Bzzzz"

Eros’ hands moved subconsciously, swiping at the fly disturbing his sleep.

He missed. Struck again. Missed.

The buzzing sounds eventually got so bad that he could no longer sleep properly.

His eyelids snapped open, revealing eyes filled with annoyance and frustration.

"What the hell is that? A mosquito?"

He was, however, met with a faint chuckle from an all too familiar voice.

The first thing he saw was the miniature girl who had claimed to be the sword spirit. Although she looked a bit bigger now, her wings were also completely purple. If she had been the size of a fist before, she was now as big as a pineapple.

Eros was about to voice his complaint when he noticed how loose the clothes he was wearing were.

When he tried to look at them he also noticed how large the bed he was lying on was.

"Where am I?" Eros asked, the question directed at the fairy floating above him

She shrugged. "I don’t know. The blue-haired girl was the one who brought us here."

"Blue-haired girl..." Eros muttered in a daze.

Then it clicked. He remembered the attack and how he had almost died. A shiver went down his spine as he quickly checked all over his body. Surprisingly, he wasn’t injured in the slightest. He didn’t even have a single scare to tell if the experience had been real.

A dreadful thought suddenly sprouted in Eros’ mind. "Hey, long have I been out?"

She seemed to think for a while. "Around three to four days," she concluded.

Eros let out a sigh of relief, he had expected her to say something along the lines of a month or so, but he was lucky in the end.

It still came as a surprise that he could heal so fast. Perhaps Elaine had gotten a healer for him. That would explain a lot of things.

"What happened after I passed out?" Eros asked, this time wearing a look of contemplation.

"Well..." the little angel tapped her finger on her chin and looked upwards. "First, all the big monsters turned into goo. Then the whole cave began collapsing," she said, waving her hands in an exaggerated motion.

"Then what?"

"Then the lady who passed out suddenly woke up and her hair changed from white to blue for some reason. She turned you into an ice sculpture then turned everything into ice.

"Then out of nowhere she summoned a portal and brought us here."

The little angel seemed too happy which felt weird.

"What’s got you in a good mood?" He couldn’t help but ask.

"Unlike you, other people actually know my worth."

"And what’s that supposed to mean?" Eros raised a brow.

"The blue-haired lady recognised me."

"Recognised you?"

"Yeah, with a single glance, she was able to tell I’m the sword of Duality. You should have seen the look on her face, she even bowed towards me."

It did make sense since everyone at the Yin and Yang Sect had known what the sword of Duality’s looked like. So Eros didn’t think it was a bid deal.

Looking at the miniature angel’s elated expression. Eros couldn’t help but roll his eyes. He got up from the bed, ignoring her, and began observing the area.

The room was luxurious, and it screamed nobility. The bed itself could take up to five and it wouldn’t feel cramped.

Large curtains were attached to the wall, pulled apart to let in the morning sunlight. Eros gazed outside. There was a gate in the distance and a courtyard not too far off. He could also make out some people training on the grass.

They moved with ease and expertise and Eros soon became engrossed in their practice.

Then the doorknob turned. Eros’ head flicked backwards. When he saw the newcomer, though, and his tense nerves calmed.
