National Guardian's Gone and We're Done

Chapter 624 - 428: You Monsters, Why Are You Attacking Us?

The old man’s face grew pale at a visible rate. The spark of life was fading from his body, little by little.

...

And in another village, a few young men were gathered in a dimly lit room, completely absorbed in a computer game.

The eerie glow of the computer screen reflected on their focused faces. From time to time, their excited shouts and the clatter of keyboards echoed through the room.

They were completely unaware that just outside, several bats were hanging silently from the windowsill. Their dark red eyes peered through the glass, coldly watching everything inside.

Suddenly, the bats took flight in unison, bursting through the window and flying frantically around the room.

Shrill screeches shattered the room’s tranquility. The sudden turn of events terrified the young men, their faces turning deathly pale. They shot to their feet in panic, looking around frantically, trying to figure out what was happening.

"Wh-what’s going on?" one of the young men stammered, his voice filled with terror.

However, the Vampires weren’t about to give them time to think.

One of the bats transformed into a human figure in mid-air, the movement so fast it was a blur. The moment his feet touched the ground, he nimbly blocked the doorway, cutting off the young men’s only escape route.

His eyes were cold and cruel. He looked at the panic-stricken young men before him as if they were helpless prey.

The other Vampires also landed, surrounding the young men in an airtight circle. They closed in step by step, each footfall like a hammer blow to the young men’s hearts.

The young men’s breathing grew ragged and heavy. Fear washed over them like a tidal wave, threatening to suffocate them.

"What... what do you want?"

One young man mustered his courage and asked, his voice trembling with obvious fear.

The Vampires didn’t answer. They just continued their slow advance, their faces devoid of expression, showing only a cold killing intent.

Suddenly, one of the Vampires lunged at a young man with lightning speed.

The young man had no time to react before he was tackled to the ground.

The Vampire sank its fangs into the young man’s neck. He let out a piercing scream as blood gushed from the wound, looking especially stark in the dim light.

The other young men tried to rush forward to help, but they were blocked by the other Vampires. In the face of the Vampires’ power, their own strength was insignificant, like that of ants.

Soon, they too were tackled one by one, suffering the same fate. Their screams echoed through the room, lingering long after.

In every corner of the White-Red Empire, scenes like this played out again and again, like a symphony composed by Demons.

The Vampires were like fiends escaped from Hell, indiscriminately attacking every innocent citizen.

Their actions were cold and cruel, without a shred of mercy.

The entire White-Red Empire plunged into an abyss of panic. Screams and cries intertwined in the night sky—the shouts of despair, a tragic song for lives about to be extinguished.

Some of the braver citizens tried to fight back. They grabbed whatever weapons they could find, like Rods and knives, and engaged the Vampires in a life-or-death struggle.

However, their strength was insignificant before the powerful Vampires.

The Vampires were incredibly fast and immensely strong. They could easily evade the people’s attacks, then strike a fatal blow before their victims could even react.

...

In the square of a small town, a group of citizens armed with crude weapons faced off against a pack of Vampires.

The people’s faces were filled with both fear and fury—fear of the unknown and of death, and fury in defiance of the Vampires’ atrocities.

They gripped their weapons tightly, their palms slick with sweat, yet they stood their ground, determined to protect themselves, their families, and the land they called home.

"You monsters! Why are you attacking us?"

a middle-aged man shouted, his voice filled with rage and indignation.

The Vampires ignored his question, merely staring at them with cold eyes full of disdain and mockery.

Suddenly, one of the Vampires let out a sharp cry, a sound like the screech of a night owl that tore through the sky. Then, all the Vampires charged toward the citizens, their figures looking monstrous under the moonlight.

Unwilling to show weakness, the people brandished their weapons and met the Vampires in a fierce battle.

The outcome of this battle was already decided. The Vampires weaved through the crowd with ease, their fangs and claws serving as the deadliest of weapons.

One by one, the townspeople fell. Blood stained the ground of the square, a particularly tragic sight under the pale moonlight.

Ye Lingyun stood at the top of a tall building, silently looking down on it all. Her face was expressionless, as if none of it had anything to do with her. She was merely a cold observer.

’To achieve my goals, these sacrifices are necessary.’

Her eyes revealed a sliver of resolve, a declaration to the world that her plan would not be stopped by anyone. She would build her own dark Empire upon this land of fear and despair.

As time went on, more and more people were turned into Vampires.

Their eyes became vacant and cold, and they exuded the same decaying stench as the other Vampires.

They became Ye Lingyun’s puppets, like walking corpses, obeying her every command.

The nights in the White-Red Empire grew even more terrifying and bizarre.

The thick stench of blood, the smell of death, permeated the streets.

Every now and then, a bloodcurdling scream would shatter the silence of the night, striking fear into the hearts of all who heard it.

The newly turned Vampires wandered aimlessly through the city, their eyes glinting with bloodlust as they searched for their next target.

The entire White-Red Empire had become a massive Vampire nest, shrouded in fear and despair, sinking into an endless abyss of darkness.

And Ye Lingyun still stood silently at the top of the building, her figure appearing both lonely and powerful in the moonlight.
