Chapter 123 - 122: Settling Down
Aboard the Giant Eagles, they soon arrived at the Celestial Sinking Ruins. Fortunately, the Giant Eagles here didn’t recognize a single master; whoever was piloting them could control their flight. It was thanks to them that they were able to arrive so quickly.
"We’re here."
After dismounting from the Giant Eagle, Yi Tianyun walked up to the Celestial Sinking Ruins. With a wave of his hand, the great gate of the ruins lit up and began to slowly swing open. The sight left the women stunned. Although they had mentally prepared themselves, they were still deeply shocked to see Yi Tianyun actually controlling the place.
"What are you standing around for? Come on in." Yi Tianyun led the way, passing through the barrier.
Shi Xueyun smiled faintly and followed him, passing effortlessly through the barrier into the Celestial Sinking Ruins. The other three elders followed suit, entering the barrier without any difficulty. Even the Giant Eagles were able to enter, completely unobstructed.
"We’re really inside..."
Once inside, they took in the familiar surroundings. It had been many years since they were last here. They had entered as youths, and in the blink of an eye, they had reached their current age. Returning now, they couldn’t help but feel a surge of emotion.
"Tianyun, how did you do this?" Shi Xueyun asked.
"It’s simple. Before, when I was looking for Martial Arts in front of the Trial Stele, I ended up receiving the inheritance of the entire Celestial Sinking Ruins. I am now the Inheritor of this place. Everything here either belongs to me or is controlled by Elder Xuan." With a wave of his hand, Yi Tianyun made Elder Xuan appear before them, who looked at the women with a smile.
The sudden appearance of a person startled them, but when they got a clear look, they realized it wasn’t a real person but an Illusion.
"So, the Young Master has brought guests this time. Welcome," Elder Xuan said politely.
They all nodded in acknowledgment. This place seemed extraordinary; the pressure emanating from Elder Xuan alone was incredibly intense.
"There are no Treasures inside the Celestial Sinking Ruins. Just as you’ve seen before, it has already been picked clean. However, as a place for cultivation and a sanctuary, it’s absolutely perfect. If we move all the disciples here, it will be much safer than Merak Palace. What’s more, the cultivation environment is far superior," Yi Tianyun said with a smile. "If we hide in here, Cyan Profound Mansion will never find out."
"But this would mean abandoning Merak Palace. It’s a difficult choice, but for now, it’s a compromise we have to make."
Originally, Yi Tianyun had only planned on telling Shi Xueyun, but recent events forced him to reveal his plan early. He intended to move all the disciples here. Not only was this place safe, but it also had more cultivation areas, which would significantly increase their training speed.
However, it meant abandoning Merak Palace, their foundation. But if they didn’t do this, they would face annihilation!
Even Yi Tianyun couldn’t claim he could destroy Cyan Profound Mansion right now. He was still unaware of the full extent of their power. Moreover, they had so many members that he couldn’t possibly deal with them all at once. Hiding here was undoubtedly the best choice.
The women didn’t need long to consider; they quickly nodded in agreement.
"It is indeed a difficult choice, but we have no other option right now..." The elders shook their heads with bitter smiles. ’A weak faction like ours is destined to become a puppet.’
It was the same for the three great factions before. They were nothing more than puppets for Cyan Profound Mansion, which wanted to use them to occupy and control this region. The reason was simple: resources!
If they were to compromise, the outcome would be bleak. Beyond becoming puppets, Merak Palace itself would likely be dismantled. Cyan Profound Mansion would never allow Merak Palace to remain as it was; they would certainly force many of their own people into its ranks. At that point, Merak Palace would cease to be Merak Palace and would become a mere branch of Cyan Profound Mansion.
Compromise was merely a means of survival in disgrace. The choice was ultimately theirs. If it were a simple vassalage, one where Cyan Profound Mansion didn’t interfere with their internal management, they might have been able to accept it. After all, aligning with a major power could be very beneficial.
But Cyan Profound Mansion’s plan was complete infiltration. They would eventually force all the female disciples to couple with disciples from Cyan Profound Mansion—a truly inhumane act. For Yi Tianyun, however, the fact that they wanted to force Shi Xueyun to become the concubine of the Cyan Profound Mansion’s Mansion Master was already unforgivable.
Whether they submitted or resisted, Shi Xueyun would be taken to be a concubine. This had undoubtedly crossed his bottom line!
"Don’t dwell on it," Shi Xueyun said, her voice firm. "Trees die when they’re moved, but people thrive. I remember our Merak Palace founder also came from elsewhere. There’s nothing we can’t let go of. Besides, the Celestial Sinking Ruins has a far better environment than Merak Palace. Choosing a better place is the correct path! Once we’ve all grown stronger, no one will dare treat us this way again!"
Their foundation was simply too weak right now. Once their overall cultivation level increased, things like this would no longer happen.
The other elders nodded. For now, this was their only option. The principle of survival of the fittest was playing out before their very eyes. The weak are devoured. To avoid being devoured, they had no choice but to become stronger!
"Then the best thing to do now is gather all the disciples inside and forbid anyone from leaving," Shi Xueyun said. "The Celestial Sinking Ruins should have no problem accommodating everyone."
The elders all nodded. They had to gather the disciples with the utmost speed. Otherwise, it would be too late by the time Cyan Profound Mansion reacted.
They immediately began to make preparations. Just then, Yi Tianyun turned to Shi Xueyun and said, "Aunt, I need to go out for a while."
"Where are you going?" Shi Xueyun was taken aback. ’He’s going to wander off at a time like this? It’s so dangerous out there.’
"I’m going out to train properly. I can’t break through if I just stay here." Yi Tianyun’s expression was solemn. Now that things had come to this, he couldn’t afford to just stay put.
The Celestial Sinking Ruins was a good place, but it was impossible for him to achieve a breakthrough here. While he could cultivate using the Star Absorption Technique, if he drained all the Spiritual Power from this place, the Celestial Sinking Ruins could easily collapse.
The last time he absorbed just a little, a small portion of the energy was already depleted. His goal wasn’t to level up just once or twice, but five or six times or more. If he couldn’t reach the fifth or sixth level of the Spirit Pill Stage, how could he possibly face his enemies?
The great array of the Celestial Sinking Ruins was already damaged. If he kept drawing on its power, it would surely collapse. At his current level, he was completely incapable of repairing it. It would require at least a Fifth-Grade Divine Rune Master or higher to restore it.
His current skill level was far from sufficient. He had barely even practiced the art, let alone used it for repairs.
Shi Xueyun fell silent for a moment before letting out a sigh. "Tianyun..."
Tears welled in her eyes before she could speak. She only managed to softly call his name, unable to say another word.
"Aunt, don’t worry. I’ll be back soon, and you don’t need to worry about my safety." Yi Tianyun then took out the Hundred-Change Mask and placed it on his face. Instantly, his features transformed. "See? Who could possibly recognize me now?"
"I... I really can’t recognize you at all. Is this Treasure that magical?" Shi Xueyun’s beautiful eyes lit up. This was precisely what she had been worried about.
"That’s right," Yi Tianyun said with a faint smile. "Are you still worried about me being recognized?"
