Chapter 1088 - 799: Ron Gets Dragged In
"Kael, if we ever believe you again, we’ll be as foolish as a Crup..."
"Or a Flobberworm!"
"One that’s been stomped on by a Crup!"
At the dining table, Fred and George stared at Kael with eyes practically filled with fury.
They regretted it, regretted why they ever believed Kael’s words.
Last night, Kael used the Hufflepuff Golden Cup as bait and coaxed them into rejoining the Ministry of Magic, and they couldn’t resist the temptation and agreed.
After all, it’s something left by the four founders of Hogwarts, and no one who loves alchemy could refuse.
Even though they didn’t like working at the Ministry, Kael said the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures was different from the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee, the people there were numerous and not particularly busy.
So they gritted their teeth and decided to lower their standards slightly.
Unexpectedly, once they arrived at the Ministry, they found the situation entirely different from what Kael had described.
Sure, the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures had lots of people, but it also had numerous divisions: beasts, anomalies, ghosts, goblins, centaurs, werewolves, house-elves... basically, anything other than human is managed by this department, with various offices totaling around a dozen.
Spread out like this, each office had only two or three people tops, just like Hermione.
Today, they even returned half an hour later than Hermione.
Were it not for the Golden Cup, they would’ve wanted to hang Kael from the rooftop.
"What’s wrong with you?" Mrs. Weasley asked, coming out of the kitchen with freshly baked bread, puzzled.
"It’s nothing, Mrs. Weasley," Kael said. "I just found them a new job, dealing with some problems left by the Death Eaters."
"Is it dangerous?" Mrs. Weasley asked.
"Not at all," Kael shook his head, "it’s very safe, no need to confront Death Eaters or stay in eye-catching places like the Ministry of Magic or Diagon Alley. All they have to do is wander around and interact with some small animals."
"Isn’t that nice?"
"But they don’t seem to like it," Kael shrugged.
"What else do you have to complain about?" Mrs. Weasley turned to Fred and George, her voice rising, "You should take on some responsibilities instead of always thinking about magical tricks..."
"Mom, we don’t."
"Things aren’t like Kael said!"
They wanted to explain but didn’t know where to start.
Indeed, they didn’t have to stay at the Ministry because they simply didn’t have the time; work required them to be out all day, only returning at night.
As for dealing with ’small animals’... who has ’small animals’ with three heads and seven legs? They’re not small animals; they’re monsters!
Seeing them hesitate and unable to articulate a complete thought, Mrs. Weasley became even angrier.
"Hermione knows it’s time to help out, why don’t you? Don’t think about slacking off, if I find out you quit halfway, I’ll personally twist your ears off."
Mrs. Weasley scolded Fred and George furiously; they dared not speak, sitting quietly with their heads lowered, occasionally glaring at Kael threateningly.
Does Kael care? Not at all.
After all, the Weasley Brothers aren’t Basilisks; their glares can’t kill him, so why not just let them watch.
"Oh, Kael..." Suddenly, Mrs. Weasley looked over, "if it’s not dangerous, can you let Ron help out too? As a grown wizard, he can’t continue being so idle.
"Everyone’s busy today, and he spent the whole day playing Wizard Chess."
At the dining table, Ron, who was eating his midnight snack and enjoying the spectacle, suddenly froze, not understanding how Mrs. Weasley suddenly dragged him into the situation.
"Ah, of course, no problem."
Before he could react, Kael quickly responded with a smile: "Let me think... how about a desk job for Ron? Just in my dad’s office.
"Of course, if he wants to go to Mr. Weasley’s office, that’s fine but a bit complicated. You know, I quit now, so things aren’t as straightforward."
"It’s fine, Chris’s office is great, and I don’t want him with Arthur anyway, lest Arthur helps him slack off," Mrs. Weasley chuckled, "Are you sure he’ll be okay? Ron’s never worked at the Ministry before."
"No worries, he’ll be fine," Kael gestured. "The work is easy, just organizing files and transcribing documents, he’ll pick it up quickly."
"That’s great," said Mrs. Weasley.
Ron finally realized that while having dinner, his subsequent holiday was planned out.
Thinking of Hermione’s recent fatigue and Fred and George’s complaints, Ron inwardly felt a thousand times unwilling.
He didn’t want to go to the Ministry, just wanted to stay home, chat with Harry, and play Wizard Chess to pass the time.
"Mom, I’m not going to the Ministry," Ron immediately said, "I need to keep Harry company; he’s too lonely by himself."
