Chapter 1076 - 795: Heading to the Ministry of Magic
Mr. Weasley returned at dawn, and at eight in the morning, he walked into the kitchen sleepy-eyed and took the sandwich Bill handed him.
"Dad, didn’t you just work an overtime shift last night? Why do you have to go to the Ministry of Magic so early again today?"
"No choice, the department is really short-handed lately." Mr. Weasley yawned, "It’s not just me, even Chris, Lupin who just got married, and Cedric, who’s only been with us for two years, are all like this, never-ending work every day."
"But isn’t this too busy?" Fred poured him a glass of pumpkin juice, "Will the Ministry of Magic pay you extra for overtime?"
"All the Ministry’s money is being used to buy Potion Materials needed to treat the wounded." Mr. Weasley took a sip of pumpkin juice.
"So you’re working for nothing?"
"You can’t say it like that." Mr. Weasley shook his head, "This is work, not a transaction."
George pursed his lips.
Of course, he understood what Mr. Weasley meant, but knowing and accepting are two different things.
And he wasn’t really after that paltry overtime pay anyway.
Hasn’t the Ministry of Magic always been declaring in the Daily Prophet that they’ve already got the Death Eaters’ movements under control?
Where were the Aurors and Beaters during yesterday’s attack... They waited half an hour until everything had settled before they rushed over.
If Kael hadn’t used the Phoenix to save them, who could say how many would have come back alive.
Nowhere to be found when they’re truly needed, yet eager to work when it’s something mundane, how can it be so convenient.
The more George thought about it, the angrier he became.
Even though he also knew, yesterday’s attack was completely a sudden incident, and it’s quite normal that the Ministry couldn’t arrive... including the members of the Order of Phoenix and his dad didn’t come either.
But he just couldn’t shake the dissatisfaction in his mind.
Fred felt the same, he also had grievances against Amelia, the new minister.
Nobody could think of any other solutions, but you can’t just exhaust one person, right?
He remembered very clearly, at five in the morning, he and George had just finished improving the Communication Coin and were ready to sleep, that’s when they heard the sound of the door opening.
Mr. Weasley had come back at that time.
Now, only three hours later, he had to go to work again? Isn’t this too rushed?
However, Mr. Weasley himself wasn’t very concerned, he rubbed his forehead, quickly finished his sandwich, took a big gulp of pumpkin juice, stood up ready to head out.
"Wait, Mr. Weasley..." Hermione quickly finished her breakfast, "Can I go to the Ministry of Magic with you?"
"You want to go too?"
Mr. Weasley stopped, "Hermione, if it’s not something urgent, I think you’d better stay here."
"It’s okay, Mr. Weasley." Hermione said, "I’m not Harry or Kael, You-Know-Who probably doesn’t even know me."
"That’s true, but..."
"Don’t worry, Mr. Weasley, if there’s danger, I’ll Apparate away in advance."
Under Hermione’s gaze, Mr. Weasley hesitated for a moment, then nodded in agreement to take her to the Ministry.
Hermione has always been a very opinionated witch, Mr. Weasley felt that even if he refused, she would go by herself, which would be more dangerous, but it’s safer with him accompanying.
"Alright then." Mr. Weasley said, "But you must stick close to me, once we’re in a safe area, we’ll Apparate together."
"No problem." Hermione nodded.
Then the two of them left the house, along with Sirius and several other Weasley family children.
Bill and Charlie had other tasks, they needed to patrol the surrounding areas to ensure no Death Eaters appeared nearby.
Fred and George had to head to Diagon Alley, they wanted to reopen their shop.
Mrs. Weasley didn’t look pleased, maintaining a stern expression.
In fact, since the Death Eaters attacked Diagon Alley, she wasn’t keen on Fred and George continuing their business.
Last time they were lucky not to be in the shop, the Death Eaters could only vent their anger by destroying the shop.
But next time... If they go back to Diagon Alley, what then – then, the ones destroyed won’t be the shop, but the two of them.
So Mrs. Weasley has been reluctant to let them reopen the store.
But the Weasley brothers were adamant about doing so, not willing to give up their shop no matter what, they even had a big argument over breakfast about it.
Needless to say, the Weasley brothers won the argument, using the reason "it’s because Voldemort cast a shadow over the Magic Realm that they want to bring joy to everyone." to successfully make Mrs. Weasley relent, even withdrew her fingers ready to twist their ears.
In fact, they truly accomplished it.
The entire street of Diagon Alley was desolate and silent, but their shop was the most lively.
From afar you could see the colorful sign and Weasley statues, the cheerful music from the shop spilled out half the street, appearing out of place yet strikingly eye-catching compared to the surroundings.
Anyone passing by the door would have an illusion, as if Voldemort hadn’t appeared.
This excuse successfully convinced everyone.
After they all left, Mrs. Weasley silently sighed.
"I really shouldn’t have listened to them say all that." she mumbled to herself, turning and walking into the room.
