Chapter 77: Drew’s Sinister Plan
Steven kept driving, curious to see what would happen. But he wasn’t going to sit passively and do nothing.
He remembered that after the settlement, he should now have exclusive points, which meant he could increase his strength on the spot.
He opened the system screen immediately.

Steven smiled when he saw the number of exclusive points he had available. And without hesitation, he assigned 18 points to his Physique and 14 to his Intelligence, increasing both to 34.
The following moment, Steven felt a huge amount of warm energy flow through his body, making him feel like his body was filled with immeasurable strength.
He also felt a pang of headache but it stopped immediately. Though what followed would have made him lose control of the car if he hadn’t been careful.
Almost all the memories from his past started rushing to the surface. He remembered memories from his childhood that he never knew existed and were only surfacing now.
He also noticed that his mind had become even clearer than before, and he could see things more clearly than before.
Another thing he noticed was that he now had what he would call a sharper sixth sense. He could perceive his environment better than before.
It wasn’t to the level where he could sense things that were distant from him, but his instincts had become sharper, his body had become even lighter than before, and he could notice things that were happening around him in his vicinity, without looking at them directly.
It wasn’t superhuman. The best he could describe it was like having a far better peripheral vision than before.
Steven was unable to observe his changes for longer — not that he wanted to — before a car sharply pulled up in front of him, forcing him to jam his foot on the brake, nearly avoiding what could have been a terrible accident.
He looked back and saw that the car that had been trailing him had blocked his path from behind, and he couldn’t reverse.
Steven knew that he was trapped and the only thing he could do was wait and see what was going to happen. He had no idea if they had guns with them, and he was fully aware that even with how much stronger he had become with the recent addition of exclusive points, he wasn’t bulletproof.
He thought of what could possibly happen but he knew that no matter how bad things got, they couldn’t kill him. A dead body in a Porsche in River Oaks would create problems even Drew’s father couldn’t easily manage.
But if they decided to throw hands, he had more than enough confidence to come out on top with ease.
Steven thought about what they could possibly want and the only thing he could think of was intimidation.
The question now was what they were going to intimidate him with or what they would want him to do.
He waited patiently, watching to see what they were going to do.
The following moment, the doors of the two cars opened and a group of men stepped out and walked to his car immediately.
They surrounded the car from all sides, while two of them walked to his window and one of them knocked on the glass, signalling to him to wind down the window.
Steven said nothing and slowly wound down the glass.
"Here, take it. There’s a date and address," one of them said, pushing a white envelope toward his face.
Steven collected the envelope, looked at its surface and asked, "What’s the content of the envelope?"
"That’s for you to find out and to do what it says," the man said, stepped back, turned, and got into the car.
The others followed without signal or word. Both cars pulled away in opposite directions and within fifteen seconds the road was clear.
Steven looked at the envelope, then threw it on the passenger seat and drove off.
He reached home a few minutes later and collapsed on the sofa. He turned to the envelope he had thrown aside on the sofa as he had walked into the apartment, picked it up and tore it open.
He saw a black card with what looked like carved gold edges inside. He took it out and started reading. He was done a few seconds later and he sighed, shaking his head.
The envelope contained an invitation to a private gathering being held by someone on River Oaks Boulevard. The time and date were in the letter, as the man had said.
Steven held the envelope for a moment and thought about the possible reason why Drew could have possibly invited him to such a high class social gathering, and what Drew wanted to do.
Only one thing came to mind. And that was public humiliation.
Drew was inviting him to a gathering with a high society atmosphere, to publicly humiliate him in the presence of the elite, just to recover his ego.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. How predictable," Steven clicked his tongue.
He wasn’t rattled. He had known something was coming from Drew and this was, if anything, less than he had expected.
He dropped the black invitation card on the sofa, stood up and walked to his bedroom, feeling very unbothered about the entire plan Drew had cooked up.
He would accept the invitation and go, out of curiosity to see what a social gathering of that level looked like and what Drew would pull exactly.
And if everything went as he had deduced, then he had nothing to worry about. He was confident in himself, and the fact that he had JP Morgan behind him boosted that confidence. Not to forget the mysterious and powerful trust management company behind the system.
The gathering was in two days time. Until then, he had far more important things to do. He walked into his bedroom and through to the bathroom to shower.
He stepped out a few minutes later, drying his body. He put on the same clothes he had been wearing earlier, before leaving his bedroom and walking to the kitchen to start making breakfast.
He intended to eat first before leaving the house. He would go to the DPS to get his certificate endorsed and also check out the apartment complex he had received from the system.
He intended to take the bike out for a ride when he got back. The bike was the only thing on his mind at the moment. Anything related to Drew was the least of his concern.
