Raising Ducks for Daily Rewards

Sitting on his futon, Fengyu started drawing spiritual power into his dantian.

Below his Qi Bowls, there was only a single small pattern - the pattern of his cultivation art.

Cultivating a simple cultivation art for so long, he never gained a different benefit. The only good thing about it was that he could switch arts relatively easily.

Fortunately the Qi Bowl method ensured that every spiritual power was basically of the same quality, the difference in cultivation arts being the intricate and perfected patterns below, on and around the whole bowl.

He put the jade slip on his forehead, various information entering it again.

"The centre of this art, the core pattern is the pattern of Beasts. There are 1001 variants, and I can choose among them myself."

A transcendent art was a generalised art yet had the foundation to become unique for each cultivator. Only with 1001 different variants could one truly count it as a true art.

Fengyu looked through these many and saw that basically every beast family was included. Among them, the most prominent of each family had their own patterns.

He looked at the beast family his own ducks belonged to - Waterfowl.

"Among waterfowl, the most prominent species are Ducks, Geese and Swans. Among them, ducks are the perfect production item, geese are often used as mounts, and swans are often called white phoenixes, carrying an elegance surpassing others..."

The whole waterfowl family was a set of low-level, mid-level and high-level beasts.

He looked deeply at them, his gaze switching between ducks and waterfowl.

"Should I... try to do waterfowl instead of ducks?" Fengyu was hesitant for a moment.

While he did raise ducks mainly now, what if he switched to geese and swans in the future?

The possibilities... would be endless!

"If I take Zimu as my primary beast, then the closest beasts will always be ducks, while waterfowl will be secondary. Choosing waterfowl now means balancing them, while choosing ducks would make me specialised in only ducks, closing my path to expand in the direction of waterfowl."

Specialise or not?

"The benefits of specialising are clear - my ducks will become more prominent and I can basically say that when it comes to meat and egg production, I will get an edge. Not specialising is a difficult matter, because it is a bit of a gamble. But, by not specialising, the benefit is that I won’t be forced on only one market. That way the issues that might force me to explore other paths in the future will be pushed back by a lot." Fengyu thought many times.

In the end, he realised something.

Choosing waterfowl wasn’t choosing against ducks - it simply meant that the direct bonus from cultivation was less. But, so what if this small bonus wasn’t as great?

Creation Arts were a secondary matter. If he didn’t focus on ducks now and regretted it, he could simply find a way to make up for it with creation arts, and later find a way to make waterfowl his specialisation.

All hesitation disappeared from his face as he firmly decided to take the path of waterfowl!

Ducks are his core, the others will be his assistants!

The moment he chose, the pattern of waterfowl in his art suddenly changed a bit.

Before, it was a pattern of a general figure of ducks, geese and swans. But when he chose, the pattern shrunk slightly, looking slightly more like a duck rather than a goose or swan.

He was shocked when he looked at it, his eyes nearly jumping in surprise.

Right then, a hidden piece of information popped up - the pattern would have the same effect as a true full duck pattern, but it would have the foundation of waterfowl. Expanding it to include all three will require extreme effort in the future. For now the current pattern would have the benefit for ducks but not for the other two.

Only now did he realise that this art was truly transcendent! If he chose something but it wasn’t the perfect choice, he could simply make the art change according to his will!

His expression of determination became one of satisfaction.

Moving his spiritual power, he shaped it into a pen, positioning it right below his first and smallest Qi Bowl.

With heavy moves, he first expanded the vague shape of the previous art, making it into a circle. It was incredibly difficult to transform this hardened Qi Bowl, but he could only focus deeply and continue his steps!

One line, two lines, three lines...

The bottom changed from its previous shape to a circle, and inside the circle, from one wall to another, lines were formed and gradually took the vague shape of a waterfowl beast, resembling a duck but also not fully.

Fengyu looked deeply at this and continued.

Once he completed the pattern on the bottom of the bowl, he created the pattern again inside the heart of the bowl.

The two patterns were only separated by a thin spiritual power wall.

"Puuuuuh," he breathed out, looking at the vague pattern dissipating in the bowl.

"Just as I thought, the vague outline I created didn’t even leave behind white lines. It’s like I’m writing on paper even though I have to engrave stone. But... only by doing this many times can I fully engrave the pattern!" Fengyu knew very well how difficult it was to do this.

Fortunately his cultivation was currently rather weak, meaning he hadn’t formed many bowls.

With only three bowls, he could still engrave and change them without a huge effort.

If he reached the second stage, he would have had an even graver issue!

And he heard that after reaching the third stage, changing your cultivation art becomes incredibly difficult.

Looking at the intricate and detailed patterns, and thinking of the fact that you needed a higher cultivation art than his own just to reach the third stage...

It’s easy to understand that once you reached a certain stage, the cultivation arts you can switch to will become incredibly few, and such a detailed outstanding cultivation art like the Spiritual Herding True Art can’t be switched to at all.
