My Milf Conqueror System

Chapter 339: Nightswimming

Two in the morning. I couldn't sleep. The villa was silent — the kind of silence that only exists when nine women and four friends are all unconscious at the same time, a statistical improbability that occurred maybe twice during the entire vacation. I got up, pulled on shorts, and went to the pool.

The water was warm — Miami warm, the kind of warm that made you forget it was two AM and you should be asleep. I swam laps, slow and mechanical, letting the water do what water does: erase the noise, wash the day off, give the mind nothing to hold onto. I'd been doing this since college — swimming when I couldn't sleep, swimming when the System was too loud, swimming when the weight of nine women and a criminal empire and a phone that talked to me got too heavy to carry on dry land.

I was on my fifth lap when I heard the sliding door. Sofia. She was wearing a white bikini that glowed in the pool light, her hair down, her feet bare on the wet tile. She didn't say anything. She slipped into the water and swam to me, and we floated together in the deep end, looking up at the stars.

"You can't sleep either," she said.

"I never sleep."

"I know. I can hear you pacing at three AM. I've been hearing it for months." She floated closer. "What do you think about? When you can't sleep?"

"Interest rates."

"Jake."

"Sometimes interest rates. Sometimes the empire. Sometimes nothing." I looked at the sky. Miami's stars were muted by the city glow, but a few were visible — the bright ones, the ones that didn't care about light pollution. "Tonight I was thinking about Mila."

"Mila? The restaurant owner?"

"She said something at dinner. About plans that don't give you the option to trade. About someone she used to be."

Sofia was quiet for a moment. "That's what you think about at two AM? A restaurant owner's cryptic dinner comments?"

"I think about everything at two AM. It's when the volume turns up."

She took my hand underwater. "You need to turn the volume down. That's what vacation is for."

The sliding door opened again. Isabella. She stood at the edge of the pool in a silk robe, looked at us, and said, "I knew it. I knew you two were having a secret swim."

"It's not secret. The pool is outside."

"Everything at two AM is secret. That's the rule." She dropped the robe — she was wearing nothing underneath — and slipped into the water with the practiced grace of a woman who'd been making entrances her entire life.

[Ding!]

Victoria arrived seven minutes later. She'd been awake in her room, working through a Vanguard Holdings report — she still reviewed the quarterly numbers even on vacation, because Victoria never fully stopped being a CEO — and she'd seen the pool lights through her window. She came down in a competitive swimsuit, because Victoria didn't own anything she couldn't compete in.

"What are we doing?" she said.

"Swimming," Sofia said.

"At two AM?"

"The pool doesn't have business hours."

Victoria got in. The four of us floated in the warm water, looking at the sky, not talking. It was the most peaceful moment of the vacation — four women and one man in a pool at two AM, the city quiet around them, the ocean audible in the distance, the stars indifferent.

Then Isabella splashed Victoria. Victoria splashed back. Within thirty seconds, the peaceful float had devolved into a splash war of escalating intensity, with Isabella and Victoria on one side, Sofia caught in the crossfire, and me trying to dodge while being targeted by all three.

"This is not relaxing!" Sofia shouted, laughing, wiping water from her eyes.

"This is competition," Victoria said, sending a wave at Isabella. "Relaxation is for people who aren't winning."

"You're not winning. I'm winning."

"You can't win a splash war. There's no scoring."

"I'm scoring it. I'm winning."

[Ding!]

[Notice: Host is in a splash war at 2:31 AM. The System has no analytical framework for this situation.]

[Reminder: Host is on vacation. The System recommends: Enjoy.]

The sliding door opened one last time. Song Mei stepped onto the pool deck in a silk robe — dark blue, this time — and stood at the edge, watching the chaos. She didn't speak. She didn't join the splash war. She let the robe fall, revealing a simple black swimsuit, and slipped into the water without a sound. While the others splashed and screamed and competed, Song Mei swam laps. Silent, precise, efficient laps, her body cutting the water like a blade. She was a strong swimmer — surprisingly strong, the kind of strong that came from discipline rather than training.

Victoria watched her swim. "How is she so fast?"

"She was an empress," Sofia said. "Empresses don't splash."

Song Mei completed ten laps, climbed out of the pool, retrieved her robe, and went inside without a word. The splash war continued for another twenty minutes, until exhaustion caught up with all of us and we drifted to the edges, breathing hard, the water calm again.

"That was fun," Isabella said, as if this surprised her.

"It was acceptable," Victoria said, which was Victoria for "I enjoyed it."

Sofia was already half-asleep on the pool steps, her hair spread in the water. I carried her to a lounger and she curled up like a cat, mumbling about interest rates. Isabella claimed the lounger next to her. Victoria went inside. The pool was still. The stars were still. The clock on the villa wall read three-fifteen.

[Ding!]

[Daily Task Complete: Nightswimming.]

[Reward: +50 SP]

[Notice: It is 3:15 AM. Host is in a pool with three Queens. Sixth Queen completed ten silent laps and departed. The System finds this evening inexplicable by any analytical framework.]

[Notice: Host's stress level: 39%. New record low.]

[Reminder: Host is on vacation. The System recommends sleep. Host has earned it.]

I fell asleep on the lounger beside Sofia, with the pool water drying on my skin and the sound of the ocean in the distance and Isabella's opera playing softly from the speakers she'd somehow turned on without anyone noticing. Thirty-nine percent. The System said I'd earned it. Maybe I had.
