My Milf Conqueror System

Chapter 332: The Double Date Disaster

I tried. I really tried.

"It'll be just us," I told Sofia that morning. "Dinner. Mila's restaurant. The two of us. No schedule, no itinerary, no other Queens."

Sofia looked at me with the expression of a CEO who'd heard a subordinate propose a strategy she already knew would fail. "That's very sweet, Jake."

"It'll work this time."

"Will it?"

"It will."

It didn't.

We arrived at La Casita de Mila at seven. Mila seated us at the corner table — the same one Sofia had optimized for our first dinner — and I'd asked for no other reservations. Mila had smiled. "Just you two. I like it. Quiet night."

The first fifteen minutes were perfect. Sofia ordered the Malbec. I ordered the ceviche. We talked about Aldridge Global's expansion into Southeast Asian markets, and she told me about a acquisition target she was evaluating with the same intensity she'd once used to evaluate me. The candlelight was warm. The restaurant was quiet. For fifteen minutes, it was just a man and a woman having dinner.

Then Isabella walked in.

"Darling!" She air-kissed me on both cheeks, then looked at Sofia with theatrical surprise. "Sofia! What a coincidence. I was just passing and I thought I'd pop in for a quick bite. Mila, is there a table?"

Mila, who had seen Isabella three times this week and knew exactly what was happening, seated her two tables away. Isabella ordered loudly. She laughed louder. Every thirty seconds she glanced in our direction to make sure we hadn't forgotten she was there.

Victoria arrived twelve minutes later. She brought Ethan.

"I need cover," Victoria said, sitting down at the table next to ours. "This is a business dinner."

"It's not a business dinner," Ethan said. He looked at me with the expression of a man who had been voluntold and knew it. "I was told this was a strategy meeting."

"It is a strategy meeting," Victoria said. "The strategy is: I'm not letting Isabella have the restaurant to herself."

Nia appeared five minutes after that. She hadn't been invited by anyone. She sat down at Ethan's table, pulled out her phone, and started scanning the restaurant's WiFi network — old habit. "Their network is still weird," she said to no one in particular. "Enterprise-grade encryption on a neighborhood restaurant. I don't understand it."

"Maybe they take their online ordering seriously," Ethan said, repeating the same line Claire had used a week ago.

"Nobody takes online ordering that seriously," Nia said.

Cassandra materialized at a nearby table with a book. She didn't look up. She didn't order. She just sat there, reading, her presence a silent testament to the fact that no solo dinner in this harem would ever be solo.

Then the wine arrived. A bottle, sent to our table, with a note in elegant handwriting: Enjoy your date. I'm watching. Song Mei's handwriting. I looked up. She wasn't in the restaurant — she was on the balcony of the villa across the street, visible through the window, sitting in a chair with a cup of tea, watching us.

"She's not even here and she's managing the situation," Sofia said.

"She's Song Mei. She doesn't need to be here."

[Ding!]

[Host Stress Level: 62%. Rising.]

[Notice: Host attempted a solo dinner with First Queen. Current restaurant population: First Queen, Third Queen, Fourth Queen (remote), Shy Queen, Friend Ethan, Friend Nia. Solo dinner status: Failed.]

[Reminder: Host is on vacation. The System notes that solo dinners are not compatible with Host's lifestyle. The System recommends: Accept this.]

Mila came out with dessert — complimentary, for everyone. "The big romantic group," she said, placing flan on every table. "On the house. You people are the best thing that's happened to this restaurant in months."

"You're the best thing that's happened to this vacation," Sofia said, and meant it.

Mila beamed. "Eat. Enjoy. And Jake?" She leaned close. "Next time, just bring all of them. It's easier that way."

She was right. I gave up on solo dates.

Ethan, who'd finished his flan and was now on his second, leaned over. "For what it's worth, I thought the first fifteen minutes were going great you know."

"Thanks, Ethan."

"Then Isabella walked in and it became a hostage situation."

"Thanks, Ethan."

Nia looked up from her phone. "Their network has four subnets. Four. A restaurant this size needs one. Maybe two." She shook her head. "I'm telling Claire about this later, I have to."

"Tell Claire I said hi," Ethan said.

"You're sitting next to me. Go tell her yourself."

"I don't even know where Claire is."

"Nobody ever truly knows where Claire is," Victoria said, not looking up from her wine. "That's her whole thing. She's like the ghost in your operation."

She wasn't wrong. Claire was the overwatch — the one who ran the background, coordinated the comms, saw the patterns from a distance. She was probably watching from somewhere right now, cataloging the disaster of my solo date with the same analytical patience she brought to everything.

[Ding!]

[Daily Task Complete: Dinner (not solo).]

[Reward: +50 SP]

[Notice: Host has now attempted three solo dates on this vacation. Success rate: 0%. The System recommends discontinuing this strategy.]

[Reminder: Host is on vacation. The restaurant's WiFi configuration is not Host's concern. The System is aware Friend Nia noticed it. The System recommends: Let it go.]

We walked back as a group — the entire group, all of us, because that was the only way this harem traveled. Sofia held my hand. Isabella walked on my other side. Victoria walked behind us, critiquing everyone's pace. Ethan and Nia walked together, arguing about subnet architecture. Cassandra walked at the back, reading by the light of her phone.

I hadn't had a solo date. I'd had a group dinner that started with two people and ended with nine. But Sofia was smiling, and Mila had comped dessert, and the Miami night was warm and loud and alive.

That was enough. That was always enough.
