My Milf Conqueror System

Chapter 277: The Counter Surveillance

[Jake's POV]

The Wynn Macau penthouse was a gilded cage.

The air was cold. Too cold. It smelled like citrus cleaner and new carpet and money. The floors were pale marble. They reflected the ceiling lights in soft pools. Floor-to-ceiling windows showed the entire Cotai Strip. Gold, red, white. Neon bleeding into the late afternoon sky. Far below, people moved like ants. Cars crawled along the avenue.

I stood by the glass, looking out over the glittering expanse. The suite was massive. Cream and gold furniture. A bar that cost more than most cars. But it felt suffocating. The walls were too far apart and too close at the same time.

I couldn't pace. I couldn't check the perimeter. I couldn't drop the posture of Julian Croft. Even in private, the immersion had to be absolute. Julian didn't pace. He didn't check corners. He poured a drink and watched the view.

"The decoy convoy reached the old city," Nia reported over the encrypted comms bead in my ear. Her voice was low. "The Imperial Shadow tailed them for twenty minutes before she realized the target in the backseat wasn't you. She broke off the pursuit."

I took a sip of sparkling water. The bubbles were sharp on my tongue. The glass was cold against my fingers.

"She'll be angry," I noted. "And she'll know exactly where I actually went. The Wynn is the only other property registered to Croft's holding company."

Of course she'd figure it out. The Shadow wasn't stupid. She was patient.

"She's already here," Claire chimed in. "I'm monitoring the hotel's internal security feeds. A woman matching her physical profile, wearing a different evening gown, just walked into the lobby. She's bypassing the casino floor and heading straight for the VIP elevators."

I didn't turn from the window. My reflection stared back. Bored. Unbothered.

"She can't get up here," I said. "The private contractors have the elevator banks locked down."

My security detail was stationed outside the penthouse doors. Two men. Suits. No weapons visible. Julian's kind of security.

"She isn't trying to get up to the penthouse," Nia corrected. "She's booking a suite on the floor directly below yours. She's establishing a forward operating base. She's going to monitor your communications, your movements, and your visitors."

Below me. One floor down. Close enough to hear the elevator. Close enough to watch who came and went.

I smiled faintly. It was exactly what I would have done.

"Let her set up," I said. My voice was calm. "In fact, I want you to make it easy for her. Nia, open a tiny, heavily encrypted backdoor in the penthouse's Wi-Fi network. Make it look like a flaw in the hotel's commercial router. When she finds it, she'll slice into our network."

The trap had to look accidental. Julian Croft didn't build honeypots. Rich men bought bad IT and got hacked.

"If she slices the network, she'll see our comms traffic," Nia warned. I could hear the hesitation.

"She'll see the comms traffic we want her to see," I corrected. "Create a ghost server. Fill it with fabricated emails, fake investment portfolios, and encrypted messages to offshore bankers. Let her spend the next three days analyzing Julian Croft's fake financial empire. Keep her busy, and keep her convinced that I'm exactly who I say I am."

The light outside was turning orange. The sun was dropping behind the towers.

"A digital honeypot," Nia said, the sound of rapid typing echoing over the line. "I'm building the architecture now. It'll be ready before she unpacks her surveillance gear."

Good. Let her work. Let her think she was winning.

I turned away from the window and walked over to the plush sofa. The fabric was soft. Too soft. It sank under my weight. I set the glass down on the coffee table. A faint ring of water stayed behind.

"What about the Golden Koi?" I asked.

The Outer Harbour was the other half of this. If that fell, Julian didn't matter.

"Ethan has the Outer Harbour locked down," Claire reported. "Li is managing the collections, and Vivian Chau is processing the revenue at the Jade Palace. The municipal shield is holding. The police haven't looked twice at our operations since you blackmailed Marcus Lin."

No sirens. No raids. The streets were quiet. That was the metric.

"The Empress is probing the shield," I murmured, setting my glass down. The sound was soft. "She's watching Julian Croft to see if he slips, and she's watching the Golden Koi to see who is pulling the strings. We have to keep the two identities completely isolated."

One mistake. One crossover. And both would burn.

A soft chime echoed through the penthouse. It was the secure tablet resting on the coffee table. Black screen. Encrypted.

I picked it up. It was cool and heavy. The screen lit up with a single message, routed through the Song Dynasty Trust's secure servers.

_Mr. Croft. The preliminary partnership agreements are ready for your review. Madam Song requests your presence at a private baccarat table in the Lotus Pavilion tomorrow evening at 9:00 PM. Formal attire. No private security._

I read the message twice. The words didn't change.

No private security. On the mountain. At night.

"She's inviting me back to the mountain," I said. "And she's stripping away my security detail."

The room was quiet. The AC hummed.

"It's a power play," Claire said instantly. "She wants to see how the billionaire handles himself when he doesn't have armed guards standing behind him."

She wants to see if I flinch. If I scan exits. If I reach for a weapon that isn't there.

"It's a test," I agreed. "And Julian Croft is going to pass it."

I set the tablet down. The screen went dark.

Outside, the Strip was lighting up. Red and gold and white. The city looked beautiful from up here. Like it wasn't bleeding underneath.

The Shadow was one floor down. The Empress was waiting on the mountain. And I was sitting in a penthouse that cost 80k a night, pretending I belonged.

The comms bead was silent. The honeypot was building.

Tomorrow at 9:00 PM, I'd find out if Julian Croft was good enough to survive.
