Chapter 150
The words were already out. Even if Suzy wanted to take them back, it was too late.
She watched him closely, searching his face for any hint of his reaction, trying to read what he was thinking.
But he stood there like a statue, rooted to the spot.
Clearly, her bold confession had stunned him.
Strangely, Suzy felt far calmer than she had expected.
She pushed herself up again and moved closer, her cool, pale fingers gently resting against his broad back.
"What kind of reaction is that?" she asked softly.
Beneath her palm, every muscle in his body was drawn tight.
At that moment, a series of unmistakably intimate sounds drifted through the wall from the next room.
Suzy’s hand paused.
The timing was almost uncanny, as if it were echoing the words she had just said.
She wondered what Thomas was feeling now, and heat crept into her cheeks.
He didn’t respond.
Their room fell into a heavy silence, broken only now and then by the muffled sounds from next door.
Suzy stepped closer again, closing the distance on her own. Her red lips parted, her breath warm against him. "Hey. Did you hear what I said?"
Thomas’s lack of response was starting to make this unbearably awkward.
"I heard you," he finally said, turning his head to look at her.
Those dark, hawk-like eyes were filled with too many emotions, fixed intently on her.
"Suzy." He said her name, his voice tight and rough. "Do you even know what you’re saying?"
"Of course I do." She lifted a hand to touch his cheek. "And I’m not joking."
"It’s the end of the world. Since we like each other, why not enjoy the moment?"
As she spoke, she blinked lightly.
She wasn’t usually this bold, but what she stood to gain was enough to change that.
Besides, no matter how she looked at it, she wasn’t losing anything.
A man like him... handpicked perfection. Who knew how many people would give anything for a chance like this?
Miss it now, and there might never be another.
Thomas stared at her, his gaze so deep it felt as if it might pull her under.
His chest rose and fell sharply, every muscle taut, as though he were holding something back with all his strength.
Then suddenly, he closed his eyes.
"Enjoy the moment..."
Suzy smiled and leaned in, pressing her lips against his.
His lips were hot, like they held a hidden fire, yet unexpectedly soft.
"Yes... enjoy the moment," she murmured against him, her words blurred by the kiss.
It was sudden, completely beyond anything he had anticipated.
When Thomas didn’t push her away, she pressed forward, wrapping her arms around his neck, careful to avoid the wound on his back.
A low sound escaped him.
Then, finally snapping back to himself, he gripped her slender waist and effortlessly lifted her onto him.
By the time Suzy realized what was happening, she was already straddling his lap.
They faced each other, so close their breaths tangled together.
His hand remained firm at her waist, the heat of his palm seeping through the thin fabric, sending a tremor through her.
She lowered her gaze to him.
Under the dim, amber light, his eyes were as deep as a hidden spring, emotions churning within them that she couldn’t quite understand.
His Adam’s apple bobbed, his chest heaving, yet the hand at her waist remained restrained, unmoving.
"Do you know how dangerous this is?" Thomas asked in a low voice.
Suzy leaned down until her forehead rested against his.
"Of course I do."
His breathing grew heavier.
In the next instant, he gripped the back of her head and kissed her.
His sudden initiative was the eruption of desire he had held back for far too long.
His kiss burned with heat, as though he meant to melt her completely.
Suzy could barely catch her breath under the intensity of it, yet she couldn’t bring herself to push him away. Instead, she tightened her arms around his neck.
She didn’t know how much time had passed before he finally pulled back slightly, his forehead resting against hers, his breathing rough.
Her eyes were unfocused, her whole body feeling as if it were floating on clouds.
It felt so good.
So this was what it meant to be close to the one she was bound to.
It didn’t just make her stronger. It brought with it an indescribable pleasure, something dangerously addictive.
She wanted more.
More.
Biting her lower lip, she leaned closer and whispered something softly into his ear.
His expression changed instantly.
The next moment, the world seemed to spin.
He laid her down onto the mattress, his body covering hers, radiating heat like a living flame.
Those usually steady eyes now burned with undisguised possession.
"One last chance," Thomas said, his voice strained with restraint. "I’m giving you one last chance to change your mind."
Suzy lifted her arms and wrapped them around his neck, pulling him closer.
A rare flush bloomed across her usually pale face, her eyes shimmering, irresistibly alluring.
She was like a rose on the verge of blooming, rich with intoxicating fragrance.
"I don’t need to."
Outside, the rain had grown heavier at some point, pelting against the glass in a steady rhythm, as if setting the tempo for the night.
Her hands roamed over him, but soon her fingers stilled.
Her body instinctively shrank back, trying to slip out of his embrace.
This... this was what a 3S-level body was like? Terrifying.
He noticed immediately. His burning palm pressed against the small of her back, applying just enough force to pull her right back to him.
"What are you hiding from?" His voice was low and husky. "Didn’t you say you wouldn’t regret it?"
She swallowed, forcing herself to answer, "...Right."
"That’s better."
His heated lips brushed along her slender neck. Feeling the slight tremble in her body, he slowed his movements.
"Not touching anymore?"
When he realized her hands had stopped wandering, he frowned.
"Already bored?"
"No, no," she said quickly.
He caught her hand and guided it back against him. Then, unexpectedly serious, he said, "Want to check first?"
Suzy’s eyes widened.
What was he even saying?!
Wasn’t he the one acting all restrained just moments ago? How had he suddenly become like this?
Before she could respond, she felt him guiding her hand downward.
"I haven’t been with any other women," he continued, his voice low. "But don’t worry. I won’t disappoint you."
Suzy got her answer soon enough.
At first, it had only been a vague impression, but even that had been enough to shock her.
Now that she truly understood, she realized what she was about to face.
All she could think was, no wonder he was handpicked.
Did the system even factor this into its evaluation? He was no less impressive than Derek.
"Well?" His voice, tinged with anticipation, brushed against her ear. "Satisfied?"
She nodded, both overwhelmed and strangely excited. "Satisfied."
Just... a little intimidated.
