[BL] The Mafia Boss Wants My Body

Chapter 52: You Belong to Only Me

The first thing that hit Adrian was the familiar scent. His breath caught as he slowly lifted his head, and the moment his eyes landed on the man standing in front of him, his heart stopped.

Standing directly in front of the elevator, flanked by two towering bodyguards, was Matteo.

He looked healthier, stronger, and more commanding than ever, his eyes locking onto Adrian’s with an intensity that made the air vanish from the small space.

Adrian’s breath hitched, his hand instinctively tightening around Iris’s as he stared at the man who had disappeared for three months, only to reappear when Adrian was finally trying to move on.

The elevator doors remained open for a moment too long, the silence pressing in as the three of them stood in the confined space. Iris, who had seen Matteo and Adrian together before, glanced between them, recognition flickering in her eyes, followed by quiet unease.

Adrian’s pulse pounded in his ears.

He expected something, tension, anything.

Instead, Matteo simply lifted his hand in a casual, effortless wave.

"Rian," he said, like the last time they saw each other hadn’t ended in blood and chaos.

Matteo stepped into the elevator with his two bodyguards, and the space instantly felt smaller. He didn’t press for the ground floor. When the elevator chimed and stopped at one of the middle levels, he moved toward the exit. At the door, he paused for a second and glanced back at Adrian, a faint, smile on his lips.

"See you around," he murmured, the words sounding more like a promise than a parting. Then, he was gone.

Adrian stood frozen, a thousand questions burning in his throat, but with Iris beside him, he forced himself to stay silent. They reached the parking lot in a daze. Because Iris’s father was a high-profile politician, her security detail was already waiting. Adrian, who didn’t live as openly connected to his father’s status, had no such presence around him.

He walked Iris to her car. They shared a brief, lingering hug before she got in. As her car pulled away, Adrian stood alone in the quiet parking lot. He glanced around, half-expecting to see a black car waiting in the shadows, but there was nothing.

His driver was parked on the other side of the lot. As Adrian turned to walk toward where the car was waiting, a deep, familiar voice cut through the cool night air from behind him.

"I was wrong, and I apologized," the voice said, laced with a trace of bitter hurt. "But I didn’t expect you not to check on me while I was lying in a hospital bed, fighting for my life."

Adrian spun around and saw Matteo standing there, looking devastatingly handsome in the moonlight. For a moment, Adrian couldn’t speak; he was just relieved to see him standing upright and healthy.

"You’re... okay?" Adrian asked quietly.

Matteo closed the distance between them, his eyes burning. "Please. Reply to what I just asked you."

"I tried, Matteo," Adrian snapped, his voice rising as the frustration of the last three months boiled over. "I really tried to see you, but I wasn’t allowed. I was blocked at every turn. Didn’t you ask Mark?"

"I did," Matteo said. "And that’s how I knew you didn’t come at all."

"Are you... blaming me now?" Adrian asked.

Matteo didn’t hesitate. "Yes," he said. "I am."

His gaze stayed on Adrian, steady and cold.

"I’m blaming you for not showing up. Not once. Not even to check if I was still alive."

"There was no way to get to you!" Adrian shouted. "Don’t you get it? Your people treated me like a plague!"

"I don’t get it," Matteo said, his voice low, edged with hurt. "Even when I was lying there, all I could think about was you. And when I woke up... you weren’t there. Mark told me everything, but it didn’t matter. I still wanted you. You were the only one I wanted to see."

Adrian turned away, shaking his head. "That’s enough. It’s good that you’re fine now."

"Is that all you have to say?" Matteo asked.

"I have to leave," Adrian said, his voice trembling. "I have work early tomorrow."

Before Adrian could take a step, Matteo closed the distance between them. He pulled him back into a tight, desperate embrace, holding him like he might slip away again. His face pressed against Adrian’s neck.

"I’m sorry," he murmured. "I’m truly sorry for all the pain I caused you."

"It’s in the past," Adrian replied, his body stiffening even as his heart screamed to lean back. "Let’s not talk about it again."

Matteo slowly turned Adrian around to face him. He cupped Adrian’s face, his thumbs brushing over his cheekbones. "I missed you so much, Rian. I missed you every single second."

"But you didn’t come to me," Adrian said, his voice tightening as his eyes filled with tears. "You got better... and you stayed away. Don’t pretend now."

"I was setting up the business," Matteo explained. "I wanted everything to be ready, to be clean, before I came back to you." He paused, his voice softening. "Didn’t you miss me?"

Adrian looked away, the silence stretching between them. Matteo watched him, a sad, knowing smile touching his lips. "I understand."

Slowly, Matteo leaned in, his intent unmistakable as he moved to kiss him. At the last second, Adrian turned his head aside.

Matteo stilled, his breath warm against Adrian’s skin. "What’s wrong?"

"I’ve moved on, Matteo," Adrian said, his voice regaining its strength. "I have a girlfriend now. Iris and I are—"

"Stop it," Matteo interrupted, a harsh, dark laugh escaping him. He stepped back, looking at Adrian with disbelief. "I was only gone for three months, and you’re already in a relationship? Just tell me if you haven’t forgiven me. I’ll apologize a thousand times. But don’t tell me you’ve moved on."

"It’s the truth," Adrian said, his heart breaking. "I’ve moved on, and you should do the same."

"You’re joking, right?" Matteo asked.

Adrian didn’t answer. He turned and walked toward his waiting car.

"Goodnight, Matteo," he said quietly. "And please... don’t come looking for me again. I’m done with you."

As Adrian opened the car door, Matteo’s voice rang out, cold and possessive.

"You might be done with me, Adrian... but I’m not done with you."

Adrian paused.

Matteo stepped into the light, his eyes flashing with a terrifying resolve. "You aren’t just anyone to me. You are mine, and I will do whatever it takes to get you back."

"Don’t bother," Adrian said without looking back. "Our Chapter is closed."

Matteo let out a low, dark chuckle, the sound sending a chill down Adrian’s spine.

"My only advice to you is this: whenever you’re with her... use protection. I wouldn’t want you to turn her into a single mother. Because you belong to me, Adrian Grayson. Every part of you is mine... and I’m coming back for what’s mine." Then he added. "Goodnight, baby."

Without another word, Matteo turned and walked toward his car, leaving Adrian standing there alone...
