[BL] The Mafia Boss Wants My Body

Chapter 48: A Love Worth Risking Everything For

He thought about the plan he had made, the decorations, everything being prepared, and the words he had practiced in his head. Tomorrow, he was going to ask Adrian to be his. Officially.

Adrian stirred, his eyes still heavy with sleep as he noticed the figure in the chair. He jolted upright, startled. "When did you get back?"

"I’m sorry," Matteo said, his voice raspy. "I didn’t mean to scare you. I just got in."

Adrian reached out. "Come here."

Matteo climbed onto the bed, pulling Adrian against his chest. Adrian melted into him, his nose brushing lightly against Matteo’s shirt. "How was the meeting?" he asked softly.

Matteo didn’t answer. He seemed lost in his thoughts, his silence saying more than words.

Adrian lifted his head and studied his face. "You look... troubled. Is everything okay?"

"Everything is fine," Matteo said softly, his hand moving through Adrian’s hair.

"Rian," he called.

Adrian looked up. "Yes?"

Matteo spoke slowly. "I have something important to talk to you about. Something big."

Adrian pulled back slightly. "What is it? Tell me."

"Not tonight," Matteo said, his thumb brushing along Adrian’s jaw. "I have something planned for you tomorrow. I’ll tell you then."

"I hate surprises," Adrian grumbled, though he didn’t pull away. "If it’s important, say it now. I don’t want to wait."

"You have to wait," Matteo insisted with a faint smile. "Just trust me."

"Fine," Adrian said.

He settled back down, his hand resting over Matteo’s heart. Then he added, "I hope you didn’t go to see anyone else," he murmured, a hint of jealousy slipping into his voice.

Matteo let out a soft laugh. "I went for business, Rian. Why would I look at anyone else when I have you?"

He brushed his thumb lightly over Adrian’s hand.

"Just admit it... You’re jealous. You’re possessive of me, you’re just too proud to say it."

"Whatever," Adrian muttered, though his grip on Matteo’s shirt tightened slightly.

"I should shower," Matteo said.

Adrian shook his head. "Why? You smell fine. You don’t need to. Just take off your coat."

Matteo let out a quiet breath. "Alright."

He slipped off his shoes and jacket, then climbed back into bed, pulling Adrian close. They fell asleep wrapped in each other’s arms.

The next morning, Adrian woke up slowly.

When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was Matteo. He was already awake, propped up on one elbow, watching him with a quiet intensity.

For a moment, neither of them spoke, the golden morning light filtering through the curtains.

"Good morning, baby," Matteo said, his voice still thick with sleep. Then he added, "Happy birthday, my love."

Adrian felt the heat rise to his cheeks, but he managed a smile. "My love? Excuse me, sir—who is your love?" he murmured playfully.

Matteo let out a low chuckle. "Can you just admit it for once? It’s your birthday, Rian. Be honest with me."

"Thank you, anyway," Adrian replied, dodging the question with a grin.

Matteo laughed softly and pulled him closer into a warm embrace. Then he began listing all the things he wished for him peace, happiness that would finally stay, and a life where he wouldn’t have to carry so much pain anymore. He wished for days where Adrian wouldn’t wake up with heaviness in his chest, and nights where he wouldn’t have to cry over memories he couldn’t change.

There was a quiet sincerity in his voice that made Adrian’s eyes sting.

Matteo noticed immediately and brushed his thumb lightly under his eye. "You can’t cry yet," he said softly, a hint of teasing in his tone.

Then his expression shifted, a playful spark returning to his eyes. "Are you ready for your surprise today?" he asked.

Adrian tried to keep his face neutral, playing hard to get. "I’m not really that eager. I don’t mind seeing it, but don’t think I’ve been counting the minutes."

"Just admit that you’re dying to know," Matteo teased, nipping at Adrian’s ear. "You can’t even wait to see what I planned for you."

"Whatever," Adrian muttered, though his heart was racing.

"You’re going to dress me up today," Matteo said, his tone turning serious. "You’ll be the one to pick my outfit... that color you love on me."

He brushed a hand over Adrian’s arm. "But first, we’ll freshen up, go downstairs for breakfast... then the rest of the day is yours."

They stood up, freshened up, and got ready for the morning before heading downstairs together.

The moment they stepped into the living room, Adrian slowed. The atmosphere felt different. There were small decorations set around the space, simple but enough to say one thing, today was his birthday.

When they walked into the dining area, the silence broke all at once.

"Happy birthday, Adrian!" Mark, Charles, Frank, and the staff shouted in unison.

Adrian stopped in his tracks, his eyes widening slightly. The decorations he had noticed in the living room continued into the dining area simple, elegant touches that made the space feel warm and intentional. A "Happy Birthday" banner hung neatly across the far wall, pulling the whole scene together.

"How did you even pull this off?" Adrian whispered, looking around. "There was nothing here last night."

"I have my ways," Matteo said, leaning down to whisper in his ear. "And this is just the beginning. There’s a much bigger plan than this."

Adrian looked at him for a moment, then leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. "Thank you."

A few people in the room reacted instantly, soft laughter, a few teasing looks. Charles grinned and tried to copy the moment, leaning toward Frank to kiss his cheek, but Frank immediately pushed him away.

"Don’t even try it," Frank muttered, making the others laugh again.

Mark clapped lightly, a smile spreading across his face as he looked at them. Then he turned to his girlfriend and said, "I love my brother... they’re both cute."

His girlfriend just smiled, her eyes soft as she watched them.

Off to the side, Tony watched quietly for a second, then turned and walked out of the dining room without saying a word.

Breakfast was a lively affair, filled with laughter and Mark’s constant joking. After a while, Matteo stood up, checking his phone. "I need to take some calls. Stay here with your friends, I’ll be back soon."

As soon as Matteo left, Adrian turned to Frank and Charles. "He says he has a huge plan for me. I have no idea what it could be."

Charles leaned in, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Maybe he’s going to propose to you, Adrian."

Adrian nearly choked on his drink. "Charles, are you okay? You have to be in a relationship to propose. We’re not even officially dating yet, how does that even make sense?"

"Maybe he’s going to ask you to be his boyfriend then," Charles said.

Adrian frowned slightly. "Do people even do that anymore? It doesn’t sound like something Matteo would do."

Charles shrugged. "Who knows? You can’t be that sure."

"Whatever it is," Frank added, "just wait for it. Why are you stressing about it?"

"I’m not stressing," Adrian insisted, though his fingers were fidgeting with the tablecloth. "I’m just... curious."

Charles smirked, glancing at Adrian before gesturing toward Frank. "Don’t bother explaining it to him. He’s never seen real love before."

Frank let out a short laugh and shot back, "Oh, and you have?"

Charles placed a hand over his chest in mock offense. "Wow... that hurt. That’s not nice, Frank."

Frank shrugged. "You started it."

The three of them burst into laughter.

The day blurred by in a mix of relaxation and anticipation. As the sun began to dip toward the horizon, painting the sky in bruised purples and deep oranges, everyone went to their rooms to change.

The bodyguards moved into high-alert positions, their presence a silent reminder of the world they lived in, but the mood remained celebratory.

Adrian picked out Matteo’s outfit and helped him get dressed first. Once Matteo was ready, he stepped aside and waited while Adrian dressed himself.

When Adrian turned back, fully dressed, Matteo’s eyes softened. He looked at him for a moment, clearly taken in.

"You look amazing," Matteo said quietly.

Adrian smiled. "You too."

Matteo reached for his hand, his grip warm and steady. "Are you ready?"

"Yes," Adrian said. "Just take me there. Stop being so suspicious."

Matteo led him toward a quiet part of the estate near the beach. As they turned the corner, Adrian stopped, his breath catching.

A private path stretched ahead, lined with soft lights, leading down to the sand. At the end of it stood a beautifully arranged canopy, decorated with flowers and candles, with a table set for two facing the ocean.
