Chapter 330: Fairy’s Cost
Annie drew the patterns, nearly an hour later, a green clock the size of a human head was formed.
Ding, the clocked clicked, the sound echoed through the entire city, time froze for a moment then moved again.
Annie’s smiled and fainted, Adrian grabbed the clock and pressed it on the coffin’s lid merging them together.
Then he placed Sanchez in there, as soon as he closed the lid, the hands of the clock stopped moving.
A green aura surrounded the coffin, time froze within the coffin. He cut open a path to Alguard.
Then sent the coffin in there, be issued commands using pack call then turned towards the fainted Annie.
Adrian made the barrier around himself skin tight trapping whatever viruses or bacteria Pestilence used on him.
Then he took Annie and teleported away to an isolated island. He waited for her to wake up.
After waking up, Annie left to find the Sapienta girl but first, she went to talk to Meggie.
" Let me guess, you’re struggling to take down Pestilence." Said Meggie as soon as Annie appeared.
Annie nodded, " Apparently Pestilence can just disappear at will, using the potion on them is not easy."
" You don’t need to trap Pestilence, you just need a bit of their DNA, the potion will do the rest, I thought I explained that in the letter."
" That’s the thing though, how do you get DNA of something like Pestilence, does it even have DNA or perhaps you’re talking about their host’s DNA?" Annie asked.
" What good will a host’s DNA do? They’re no different from clothing to Pestilence, no you need Pestilence’s own DNA." Answered Meggie.
" That doesn’t make sense, I thought Pestilence was a concept, how could they have DNA?" Annie asked.
" Everything has it and I mean everything, it’s not exactly the same as the DNA you’re thinking of.
I think it would be more accurate to call it a consciousness signature, a unique signature belonging to each being with a thought.
Even those without souls have this, it’s the sole reason they have individual thoughts, that’s what you need."
" Will that be enough to kill Pestilence?" Annie asked hopefully.
" Absolutely not, Pestilence is a physical manifestation of sickness itself, as long as the living exists, sickness will be there.
As long as the mind exists, sickness will be there, people think Pestilence is merely physical sickness.
But the sickness of the mind is also sickness, even the immortal are prone are to that one.
So no, you can’t kill Pestilence but you can temporarily destroy its consciousness, it will be come back of course.
However once you destroy the consciousness, they’ll leave their sigil behind, that’s what we need."
Annie nodded, " Alright, I get that but how do we get this DNA thing?" She asked.
" We need to trap them of course." Meggie answered.
" How?"
" I have absolutely no idea, Pestilence can just appear anywhere where there’s a sick person, animal or even plant.
The trapping spells I know will no nothing against them." Meggie answered.
Annie was getting frustrated now, she stood up to leave.
" But." Meggie continued. " If we don’t have the answer, we just ask."
Annie finally realised Meggie had been setting up a ritual this entire time. " What are you doing?" She asked.
" I’m going to use a summoning spell, the horsemen are old but there are things who are old as well.
They are not the only dwellers of purgatory, conjuring magic summons and form contract with such beings.
I’m going to try and summon one, be careful, most thing that comes out from the other side are...not very stable."
Annie nodded and formed a barrier around herself, she moved to the far end of the hut near the exit.
Meggie sat cross legged at the centre of a circle with a 12 pointed star, each corner of the star had a glowing candle.
Bowls of blood were placed on the inner corners of the star. " Vuleka, veza okungabonwayo." She whispered a spell.
It was a long chant normally but with her skill, she managed to shorten it to merely three words.
The sky above her split open revealing nothing but darkness that seemed to devour all light.
Suddenly a bust of light appeared from this darkness and out flew a small creature about the size of her palm with two pairs of glowing wings.
Each flap of its wings released glowing dust, the creature flew around her excitedly then stopped in front of her.
" Hello hello hello, are you the one who called me? Yay, it’s been so long since I came out.
Purgatory is quite boring you know, it’s dark and cold and too big, I haven’t seen another soul since....
I can’t remember, I think the second genesis, oh, strange, why does fate feel so weird in this place.
Oh I see I see, somebody changed the timeline, multiple times, that sounds very fun was that you?
It was wasn’t it? As expected of the one who can summon me, you’re very impressive indeed." The creature puffed its little chest in pride.
Actually calling it little was not accurate, although the creature was small, in proportion to its body, its chest was enormous.
It bounced like water balloons every time the creature moved, it was hilarious to look at. Annie relaxed a little.
" Is that a fairy?" She asked, finally dragging Meggie out of her thoughts. Meggie was still held up on something this fairy said.
’ Changed the timeline? So that’s why the past has been so blurry and reading the future is harder too, that would explain it.
But, who would have such power to change the timeline?" Meggie wondered.
" I don’t know, probably one of those children you call gods, oh I see them now, why are they..." Said the fairy.
They all felt a tremendous aura pointing at the fairy. The fairy pouted, " Meanie, it seems they don’t want to be known, sorry, can’t tell you."
Meggie nodded," That’s okay, I need your help with something else."
" That will cost you, dealing with those things is not easy, even for me." Answered the fairy in a more matured tone.
Meggie nodded, " What will the cost be?" She asked.
The fairy smiled, " Nothing much, just bind me to yourself."
" Huh?"
