Chapter 13 : The Tsundere Shen Yi’an
Chapter 13: The Tsundere Shen Yi’an
“Take the umbrella. It’s getting dark outside,” Shen Yi’an said, holding a steaming cup of water.
“Mhm~ okay~” Ye Yuyou replied softly.
She put on her little leather shoes and took the folding umbrella hanging on the wall.
Opening the door, she stepped outside, turning back reluctantly to look at Shen Yi’an. Only after a few seconds did she gently close the door.
Hearing the faint click of it shutting, Shen Yi’an set down her cup. Smelling the aroma drifting from the kitchen, she murmured, “Maybe… you should’ve stayed for dinner.”
Walking into the kitchen, Shen Yi’an turned off the stove. Without even using a cloth, she reached out and lifted the scorching lid of the clay pot, setting it aside.
It was her favorite soup—yam stewed with beef.
“So… you still remember…”
Her clear eyes flickered slightly. Shen Yi’an looked toward the insulated food container still working, then walked over and opened it.
Seeing the many dishes inside, she fell into silence for a long while.
Back then, Ye Yuyou—who had always been served hand and foot—had terrible cooking skills, often producing dishes that could only be described as “dark cuisine.”
Yet, adhering to the principle of not wasting food, she had eaten everything clean.
Later, she suffered food poisoning and ended up in the hospital. Ye Yuyou had been deeply self-blaming. From that day on, she secretly practiced cooking every day, only daring to let her eat again once she had mastered a variety of dishes.
But with so much food…
She couldn’t possibly finish it all alone…
By tomorrow, it would all go bad.
Thinking this, Shen Yi’an took out her phone, opened her messaging app, and let her finger hover over the contact list marked with a red notification. After a brief pause, she tapped “accept” on the friend request.
Meanwhile, Ye Yuyou—who had just gotten into her sports car and was about to turn the key—heard a vibration from the passenger seat. She casually reached over and picked up her phone.
She had been wondering whether the dishes she made suited Shen Yi’an’s taste, or whether she would enjoy them.
As the screen unlocked, her previously expressionless face instantly broke into a smile upon seeing the notification in the status bar.
An’an had actually accepted her friend request! Was she dreaming?
Just as Ye Yuyou was immersed in joy, hesitating over what message to send, a message popped up in the chat.
Shen Yi’an: “Are you on the way?”
“An’an, what’s wrong? I’m still downstairs. Do you need me to bring you anything?” Ye Yuyou replied happily.
At that moment, Shen Yi’an sat before the screen, typing quickly—then deleting—repeating this several times before finally sending a message.
“There’s too much food. I can’t finish it.”
“It’s okay~ if An’an can’t finish it, you can wrap it and store it in the fridge. If it doesn’t taste good, you can just throw it away,” Ye Yuyou replied instantly, her eyes fixed on the screen.
After sending the message, Ye Yuyou couldn’t stop smiling. She even took a screenshot, keeping it as a memory of their first online conversation in this life.
Leaning back against her seat, she waited for Shen Yi’an’s reply—but no new message came.
After browsing through emojis for a while, Ye Yuyou finally sent a cute sticker along with a message.
“An’an, are you eating now?”
After sending the message and waiting five minutes with no reply, Ye Yuyou assumed Shen Yi’an was eating and hadn’t checked her phone. So she started the engine and drove home.
Meanwhile, Shen Yi’an was indeed sitting at the dining table, eating, her phone tossed onto the sofa.
She glanced at the empty bowl beside her and slowed her eating, as if waiting for something.
More than fifteen minutes passed, and Shen Yi’an had finished her meal.
She looked at the many leftover dishes on the table, then at the clean, empty bowl, and murmured to herself, “Idiot.”
On the other side, Ye Yuyou had already returned home. Without bothering to eat dinner, she sat on the sofa, took out her phone, and eagerly unlocked the screen.
Seeing that Shen Yi’an still hadn’t replied, her mood sank, and she began to wonder if she had said something wrong.
“Miss, dinner is ready,” a blonde maid said respectfully, placing a cup of hot water on the table.
But Ye Yuyou, busy thinking about how to continue the conversation with Shen Yi’an, had no mind for it.
“I’ll eat later.”
Her voice was cool. The maid, already accustomed to her young mistress’s aloofness, smiled and said, “Miss, the temperature drops in the evening. If you don’t eat soon, the dishes will get cold and affect the taste.”
“I know. You eat first,” Ye Yuyou replied.
“Huh!?” The maid was shocked. “Miss, that wouldn’t be proper.”
“There are only two of us at home. If you don’t eat, I can’t finish it alone,” Ye Yuyou said calmly.
As she spoke, her dim eyes suddenly widened.
She hadn’t even heard the maid’s response. Grabbing her phone, she stared again at the message in the chat.
There’s too much food. I can’t finish it…
This clearly meant An’an wanted her to come eat together!
Why hadn’t she realized it at the time? How could she be so stupid?!
The light faded from Ye Yuyou’s eyes. She stood there, as if her soul had left her body.
Seeing this, the maid hurried forward in concern. “Miss! What’s wrong?!”
Ye Yuyou didn’t respond. She slowly got up, her expression dark and lifeless, and walked toward her room on the second floor.
“I’m not hungry. You eat,” she said in a low, dispirited voice.
Hearing this, the maid didn’t dare ask further and could only respond softly and respectfully.
As for the table of dishes—she didn’t dare touch a single bite.
…..
In the early hours of the morning, Shen Yi’an, having just finished her physical training, wiped off her sweat and rested for a while before heading into the bathroom to wash up.
Every bath left her feeling refreshed, as if even her fatigue had been washed away.
After drying her hair, she stepped out of the bathroom wearing only a loose nightshirt.
Meanwhile, in another room decorated in a white color scheme—
Ye Yuyou had been lying in bed for hours, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.
She couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened today. Not only had she angered An’an in the game, but she had also missed An’an’s intention.
An’an must be very disappointed in her.
She wanted to make it up to An’an—but An’an wouldn’t let her get close. She was afraid that sneaking over at night would only make An’an even more upset.
But An’an had depression… What if she became emotionally distressed and hurt herself?
Her thoughts tangled into a mess.
No—no matter if An’an hated her!
She had to go be with An’an!
