The two locked eyes, yet there was not a trace of hostility.
Shen Yi’an let out a helpless sigh and said, “Sit back down and wait for me.”
“Okay!” Ye Yuyou put away the dagger, her face lighting up with joy.
It wasn’t just because Shen Yi’an would feed her—but because Shen Yi’an had softened toward her again.
The two sat side by side. Watching Shen Yi’an cut the sandwich with a knife and fork, Ye Yuyou asked, “An’an, where are you going today?”
“None of your business. Just eat.”
Expressionless, Shen Yi’an lifted a fork with a piece of sandwich and held it to Ye Yuyou’s lips.
“An’an~ can I add you as a friend?” Ye Yuyou asked before taking a bite.
She had tried adding Shen Yi’an before, but all her requests had been rejected.
“No.” Shen Yi’an answered coldly.
If Ye Yuyou added her, she would definitely send messages every few days.
She could ignore them—but she was afraid that, over time, she might soften.
“Why? Even if An’an doesn’t like me, we…,” Ye Yuyou choked slightly before continuing, “we can still be friends.”

The moment they reached the first floor, Elder Wang’s expression changed in shock.
Their front door… was gone.
“Xi… Xinyue!” Wang Dachui noticed his sister curled up by the entrance and hurried over in excitement. “Where did you go? I was worried sick about you!”
But he received no response.
Frowning, Wang Dachui crouched down and looked into Wang Xinyue’s eyes—dull and devoid of light.
“Xinyue?”
Still, no response. She only stared blankly ahead.

“Xinyue, say something!”
Wang Dachui shook Wang Xinyue’s body, his voice filled with agitation.
“Enough. If you ask me, your sister has been harmed by someone,” Elder Wang said calmly.

“You’re this calm about it?!” Seeing his father’s cold demeanor, Wang Dachui shouted angrily.

Though he was angry, Elder Wang still held himself back.

Elder Wang looked at his irrational eldest son, then at the broken girl curled up on the sofa, and sighed deeply.
