One Piece: Fist of the Full Moon

Chapter 142 142: The One Who Draws a Blade Is an Enemy

Crack! Crack! Crack!

Roldy's bones popped like bursting beans. A visible stream of white breath poured from his nostrils. His aura surged like a rising tide, climbing higher and higher—

Until it peaked.

He looked like a rampaging demon god.

"You've got to be kidding me…"

Rayleigh swallowed hard.

The pressure radiating from Roldy made even him feel alarmed. His Observation Haki screamed warnings nonstop.

If earlier Roldy had required both him and Gaban working together to resist—

Now?

This brat's combat power had clearly entered the ranks of the very strongest.

"What a freak…"

Gaban forced himself upright. Injured as he was, he could barely exert seventy percent of his strength. His gaze was heavy with caution—

Then suddenly his pupils shrank.

A massive boulder hurtled toward them at terrifying speed. It was nearly at his nose before he reacted.

Roldy still held the throwing posture.

"Watch out!"

Rayleigh slashed the boulder apart. Shattered fragments blasted across Gaban's body like buckshot, opening fresh wounds.

Pain sharpened his focus.

This was a fight where they had to risk everything.

"Gahahahaha! Give me everything you've got! Try not to die too quickly!"

Before the words even fully reached their ears—

Roldy was already upon them.

Thirtyfold speed amplification turned him into a phantom.

His fist descended.

There was no time to dodge.

With his bloodlines fully awakened, his speed and strength had increased geometrically. Rayleigh and Gaban could only raise their weapons in desperate defense.

The weight that followed was like an entire island pressing down.

The ground beneath them shattered instantly. Their legs were driven deep into the earth—past the calves, past the knees.

Even Roger could not produce such raw physical force.

"This level of power…"

Rayleigh coughed blood.

The opponent before him no longer felt like Roldy—

But like a top-tier monster equal to their captain.

No—

If anything, Roger might be easier to handle.

The only reason Roldy stood "equal" to Roger now was his relative lack of Haki refinement.

If his Conqueror's Haki advanced further—

If he patched his Observation Haki weakness—

His strength might approach that of Rocks D. Xebec himself.

Above them, Roger and Shiki were locked in heated battle. Shiki's flying armada continued its bombardment while waves of pirates stormed ashore.

Fortunately, the Roger Pirates were no pushovers. Fighting back-to-back, they barely held the line.

"Damn it! These pirates just keep coming!"

Shanks cut down another enemy. Blood streamed from a deep gash across his forehead, covering his left eye. He panted heavily—stamina draining fast.

In that moment of pause, a massive axe swung down toward him.

"Got you, brat of the Roger Pirates!"

The swing stopped midair.

A short blade pierced through the attacker's chest.

He looked down in shock.

"Idiot, Shanks! Don't drop your guard! These guys are New World fighters who can take on ten men each! If you die here, you'll never repay the treasure you owe me!"

Buggy stood behind him, another dagger in hand.

But before he could retrieve the thrown blade, a dual-sword pirate lunged at him.

The cowardly loudmouth suddenly revealed sharp combat instincts.

He drew another dagger without hesitation. The twin short blades clashed rapidly. After several exchanges, Buggy found an opening—

And slit the man's throat.

Yet his condition was even worse than Shanks'.

His stamina was nearly gone. His body was riddled with cuts. Blood loss steadily drained him.

Worst of all—

The enemies never seemed to thin.

"Thanks, Buggy!"

Shanks stepped back-to-back with him.

The two who bickered endlessly now moved in flawless synchronization. Once their backs touched—

Neither worried about what lay behind.

But the balance didn't last.

They were still too young.

Their fresh faces marked them as apprentice pirates. Killing them would earn little glory.

But their prolonged resistance attracted attention.

Stronger fighters—small-unit captains from Shiki's crew—closed in.

For their age, Shanks and Buggy's strength was astonishing.

But this was their limit.

Buggy's stamina collapsed entirely.

A heavy blade descended toward his skull. He raised his weapon to block—but his arms gave out. He was sent flying.

The slash carved across his chest, nearly bisecting him.

He screamed and fell.

"BUGGY!"

Shanks' eyes turned red.

He glared at the attacker.

Something stirred within him.

"Unforgivable!"

He roared.

Buzz—

A pale crimson wave burst outward from his body.

Young.

Unrefined.

But undeniably powerful.

Conqueror's Haki.

The surge rippled across the battlefield, drawing the attention of every strong fighter present.

"Oh? That new brat on your ship?" Roldy remarked, pressing Rayleigh and Gaban back with a stomp. "Conqueror's Haki at that age. Not bad."

Rayleigh and Gaban shattered the next two boulders Roldy kicked at them. Despite their battered state, they smiled faintly.

"He's a promising kid," Rayleigh said.

"Of course. He's a Roger Pirate."

"Too bad," Roldy replied coldly. "He dies here."

"Have you lost your mind? They're just children!"

"They've drawn their blades, haven't they?"

Anyone who raises a weapon is an enemy.

Age means nothing.

On these seas, there were many pirates with youthful faces—

But their hands were just as stained with blood.

That was the lesson this ocean had taught Roldy.
