Chapter 324: The Land Of Miracles [Part 2]
Ivan thought the Sandreaver Tribe would part ways with them once they arrived at the crossroads that would lead to their domain.
However, instead of going home, Malik only sent half of his men to return to their territory.
When Ivan asked why the chieftain wasn’t going home, Malik only replied that he forgot something in the Aslan Tribe.
Since he didn’t want to pry, Ivan decided that having the chieftain accompany him would be much better than dealing with the Bonegnash Tribe on his own.
They were still two days of travel away from Grimjaw Mountain, and frankly, he wanted to rest for a few days before returning to Troy’s side.
’At least the food there is delicious,’ Ivan thought, looking forward to eating the sandwiches the Aslan Tribe had prepared.
For them, eating bread was a luxurious thing. Yet, during their stay there, they could eat as much bread as they wanted without feeling guilty.
Brent had also started to regain his calm after a few days of traveling. He had shared what he had learned about the Aslan Tribe with his people. Malik also assured them that the Aslan Tribe wouldn’t treat them as slaves or harm them in any way.
He even said that if Leone ever did such a thing, then he would personally give the young man a good spanking.
Two days later, they finally arrived at their destination.
"I-Is this really the Aslan Tribe’s domain?" Brent asked in disbelief.
Right in front of them was a massive wall that spanned thirty meters tall.
It was such a grand display of defenses that even Brent thought that the Bonegnash Tribe’s defenses couldn’t even compare.
"Ah... yes," Malik replied. "This is indeed the place."
The wall in front of him was supposed to be located near the base of the mountain. However, this wall was still at least two miles away from the Aslan Tribe’s fortress, which made him and Ivan exchange a glance.
Suddenly, the massive stone gate slowly swung open.
Then, the sound of drums and horns reverberated across the surroundings.
A moment later, a young man riding a pegasus appeared before the gate. His vassals followed behind him, with dozens of Drake Riders spread out in the area to ensure his security.
"Well met, friends who have traveled from afar," Leone said with a smile. "I welcome you all to the Aslan Tribe. Please, come in."
Leone made a welcoming gesture, which made Malik chuckle in response. He then urged his Sun-Scaled Raptor to head toward the young man.
"It has been a while, Leone," Malik greeted. "I’ve been gone for nearly two weeks, and yet, what do I see here?"
The Raptors were the signature mounts of the Aslan Tribe. But now, not even a single one could be seen.
Only the more ferocious and stronger Drake was available.
"Yes, it has," Leone replied. "Please come in, Malik. Ivan and Young Lord Brent, please come in as well."
Brent hadn’t expected that the Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe would personally welcome him to their domain. Aside from that, being called Young Lord, which was meant for the heirs of a tribe, made him feel a little confused.
After all, he had lost his right to succeed his father’s tribe and was now an exile. If anything, he no longer deserved to be called Young Lord, especially by the young Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe.
Nevertheless, he bit his lip and gave Leone a nod of acknowledgement.
Then, he and Ivan moved toward the gate along with their people.
The massive gate was at least twenty meters tall and fifteen meters wide.
In fact, it was wide enough to allow five wagons to enter it side by side.
At the sight, Brent thought that he had seen it all. But when he finally passed through the gates, he almost forgot how to breathe.
A city made of wood and stone appeared right before his very eyes.
It was so magnificent that he thought he was just seeing things.
Fortunately, others were thinking the same way.
Malik, Ivan, and their warriors were in the same boat as Brent.
When they left two weeks ago, the Aslan Tribe’s domain looked nothing like this.
"This is the most beautiful city I’ve ever seen in my life," Malik muttered.
Hearing this, Leone couldn’t help but feel proud. After all, it took him and Daedalus a lot of effort to design the layout of this city.
They had made it with the intention of accommodating over forty thousand people. Though the funny thing was that this part was only the outer district of their domain.
The inner district was near the base of the mountain, where only high-ranking guests were allowed to stay.
Of course, last but not least was the wall that had blocked the path of the monster army’s advance. This was the domain that rightfully belonged to the Aslan and Ravage Tribe.
Past this wall was the heart of their territory, though not everyone could enter it freely.
"Well then. Please come with me," Leone said. "I will show you your accommodations."
The road beneath them was paved with stone. It looked like multiple bricks lined up with each other, making for a smoother path compared to the dirt road of the Borderlands.
Seeing their expressions was enough for Leone and Daedalus to feel proud of themselves. Not to mention, they were conscious of how hard they had worked to really make it happen.
Then again, how were they able to accomplish this feat in just the span of two weeks?
It was really simple.
When Daedalus activated the pitfalls back then to decrease the number of monsters they had to face, several monsters had actually managed to survive.
Among them were fifty Trolls, over thirty Stone Lizards, Green-Scaled Basilisks, and Gray Wolves.
After the battle was over, Leone communicated with these monsters, with all of them asking the young man to free them.
Since the young man was a kind and benevolent person, he... rejected their proposal!
Why would he accept such a thing?
Would he really allow slaves—errr, free manpower to escape his grasp?
No way!
And so, he made a deal with the monsters.
"Serve me for two years, and I will promise you freedom."
At first, the monsters were hesitant. However, when Boris and Astravor appeared before them, they immediately thanked Leone and promised to serve him for two years.
Of course, the majority of them were only paying lip service as they intended to escape from there as soon as possible.
Unfortunately for them, Leone had forced them to sign a blood contract. Naturally, this contract was a binding contract from Daedalus.
A single drop of blood from them was enough to ensure that they would not be able to escape even if they wanted to.
The Trolls were Rank 4 Monsters. They were truly powerful, which made Leone very happy.
He even asked Daedalus to make a custom pickaxe and shovel for them, so they could dig faster without problems.
The Stone Lizards ate rock and dirt, so they were also the perfect diggers. How could Leone allow them to escape?
As for the Green-Scaled Basilisks and the Gray Wolves, they were tasked to explore the Northern Forest.
Their task was to look for monster tribes and report back to Leone as soon as possible.
The tickets that were given to the Kobolds were also put to good use. With them, they bought fifty Rank 3 Giant Moles from the Arcane Shop, as well as fifty Pteranodons.
Now that Leone’s digging personnel numbered in the hundreds, the path that they were digging through the Grimjaw Mountain Range was proceeding smoothly.
The stones from the operation were used to build the houses in the city, while the wood came from their reserves before the war.
Soon, Leone led the Bonegnash Tribe to the district that he had prepared for them.
It was near the city center, which would allow the Bonegnash Tribe to open shops, which would be good for business.
Brent and his family were personally invited by Leone to stay at Grimjaw Mountain. The villa that was meant for the Bonegnash Tribe on the third level was available, so he planned to let them live there.
The eldest son of Osteon could only follow behind Leone in a daze.
At first, he didn’t expect much when he arrived at Grimjaw Mountain.
But now, he was starting to think that he had just set foot in a city that far surpassed Eden.
Yes.
This city was grander than Eden, and he was now about to start his new life under the care of the Aslan Tribe.
As he gazed toward the towering Grimjaw Mountain, he silently wondered if this land of miracles would one day become a place... that he could truly call his home.
