Possessed No More: The True Star Returns to Claim Her Throne

Chapter 143: The New Script

Seeing Ruby Marshall’s resolute stance, Riley Perry didn’t object. She had the couple take out their phones, then scanned the codes to transfer the money. Soon, 10,000 had been deposited into each of their accounts.

"Don’t be afraid to spend it. If you run out, I’ll just send you more."

Ruby Marshall said, "I’m not stupid. We came to Dragonspire to have fun. Since we’re already here, what’s the point if we’re going to pinch pennies? We might as well have not come at all.

But, I’m not giving the money back to you."

Ruby Marshall was known for her love of money. Once cash was in her hands, no one could ever expect her to give it back.

Besides, she felt perfectly justified spending her darling daughter’s money!

"Rocco is already waiting for you outside. He’s my assistant. Just tell him wherever you want to go, and he’ll take you."

This time, Ruby Marshall didn’t refuse. As long as it didn’t bother her daughter, she would accept all of her daughter’s arrangements.

...

After parting with her family, Riley Perry returned to her apartment at The Elysian Gardens. The place was quiet, which was perfect for reading a script.

During dinner, Director Chenning had sent over the script for the police thriller.

The movie’s title was *Female Police Officer Out of the Gate*.

Just hearing the title made the movie sound hilarious.

It had the same ring as "shut the gate and release the hounds"!

The policewoman, Flora Sutton, lived up to her name; she was as beautiful as a flower. She graduated first in her class from Cathay’s top police academy and joined the municipal bureau as a rank-and-file officer.

The first call she responded to on duty was a domestic violence case.

The man’s name was Charles Lee, a long-term abuser of his wife and daughter. His excuses were sickening. Sometimes, he’d claim he was drunk, thought someone was attacking him, and fought back, only to realize he was hitting his own wife.

Other times, it was because he’d been slighted at work and couldn’t control his temper.

And sometimes, he’d beat them over the most trivial things. His wife’s body was a roadmap of injuries; she had suffered broken ribs, arms, and fingers. The child was slightly better off than her mother, but not by much.

The eight-year-old child was beaten into a state of timid cowardice, not even daring to look people in the eye.

Police calls required a minimum of two officers. Since Flora Sutton was a rookie, two veterans were assigned to accompany her. When the three of them arrived at the Lee Family’s home, the sounds of crying and shouting from inside hadn’t stopped.

They knocked several times, but no one answered, forcing the police to break down the door.

As soon as they entered, they saw a little girl cowering in a corner of the living room, the corner of her mouth bruised and swollen. A woman lay beaten on the floor.

The man was raising a leather belt, about to bring it down!

It was obvious that the call hadn’t been made by the pitiful, long-suffering mother and daughter, but by some kind-hearted neighbor.

Seeing her male colleagues about to attempt mediation, Flora Sutton stopped them and brought the entire family of three back to the station.

Charles Lee instantly turned meek in front of the police, a stark contrast to the vicious monster he was with his wife and daughter. Flora suggested detaining him. It was clear to anyone with eyes that he was a deliberate domestic abuser, escalating his violence because the consequences were so low.

The moment Charles Lee heard he might be detained, he immediately threatened his wife. After all, it was a domestic matter; if the wife didn’t press charges, it wasn’t a big deal.

And just like that, his wife, Hannah Warren, was successfully threatened.

At first, Flora Sutton managed to restrain herself. But when she saw Charles Lee raise his hand to strike again, she walked over and pretended to accidentally trip him. She then stepped hard on his thigh, injuring it. Afterward, feigning innocence, she not only gave him a severe scolding but also threatened to charge him with assaulting an officer.

Some men are lions at home and cowards outside. Coupled with Flora Sutton’s status as a police officer, Charles Lee didn’t dare say a word, even with an injured leg.

Afterward, Flora was severely reprimanded by the chief for her lack of organization and discipline. Flora just nodded and agreed on the surface, but ’she’d do it again in a heartbeat’.

In just six months, Flora Sutton caused a lot of trouble, and each incident was ridiculously funny. She encountered a rich, second-generation playboy who had gotten a female student pregnant and refused to take responsibility, trying to pay her off with a mere 10,000. When Flora saw the playboy get bailed out by his lawyer after a brief trip to the station, she deliberately slit his pants with a small knife, causing him to suddenly start streaking as he walked.

When she dealt with an unrepentant thief, she secretly applied permanent hair remover to his head and used indelible ink to write the four words "I am a thief" on his scalp.

A shopkeeper who kept short-changing customers on weight, even after being fined, became her next target. She took a megaphone and started "promoting" his business: "Want to buy a ’pound’ of pork that only weighs twelve ounces? Come on down to Old Eighth’s Butcher Shop, the only one like it in the market!"

She spent her days off "promoting" his business until he was forced to sell the shop.

At the same time, these outrageous stunts earned her one disciplinary action after another.

Until one day, she offended a man named Joel Zane while breaking up a brawl.

This Joel Zane was a man of considerable influence. It took him less than two days to investigate her background, and soon Flora Sutton found herself being hunted again and again.

The movie had now reached its midpoint.

One spectacular fight scene after another began to unfold.

Seeing how easily Flora Sutton dispatched the men he sent, Joel Zane decided to hire professional assassins to deal with her.

But Flora was too sharp. She captured the assassins and dumped them at the police station. Seeing that brute force wasn’t working, Joel Zane resorted to underhanded tactics. Flora was framed, and the police department fired her.

Even then, Flora still didn’t know who was behind all her troubles.

Joel Zane took advantage of this, appearing before Flora openly. He lured her into a lawless zone and injected her with drugs.

Joel then played the hero, showing up just in time to "rescue" her. With nowhere else to turn and her future as a police officer ruined by the drugs, Flora decided she might as well go all in. She joined Joel Zane’s organization and began to climb the ranks.

To get ahead, she first helped Joel eliminate one of his "uncles"—an elder who defied him—and took over his businesses. Then, using clever tactics, she took out a leader of a rival organization, expanding Joel’s territory by a full third.

She used her exceptional abilities to win Joel Zane’s trust and also happened to save his life. Flora rose through the ranks, becoming one of the organization’s key figures.

Joel Zane’s attitude toward Flora shifted from a desire for revenge to admiration, and finally to infatuation. He started entrusting her with some of the group’s operations. Each time, she completed her tasks, navigating through danger unscathed. In the end, he fell for her completely, trusting her enough to let her handle all of the organization’s business.

Including, but not limited to: human trafficking, extortion, organ trafficking, illegal confinement, phone scams, live-streaming scams, and drug trafficking.

Flora Sutton truly lived up to her reputation as a top police academy graduate. She had the brains and the brawn. She eliminated everyone who refused to submit to her, and soon she became the organization’s fourth-in-command.

She rose too quickly, and the organization’s old guard complained about her, but Joel Zane blocked all their protests. Meanwhile, Flora seized the opportunity to enter "the compound," killed the person in charge, and won over the several hundred thugs inside. Then, she led them in a rebellion!

Lured by the immense profits Flora promised, the Zane father and son came to the compound. Before they could cause any trouble, both were shot and killed. Next, as the old guard vied for power, Flora deliberately fanned the flames. They pulled out all their tricks against each other, and in the end, they were all either dead or grievously wounded. The organization’s power was greatly diminished, and Flora Sutton successfully took over the entire Zane Group.
