Chapter 16 : Chapter 16

Chapter 16 : Dead End!
“Do you have any last words, Muen Campbell?”
Just as Ariel had guessed, Selicia was pressing Muen firmly beneath her.
The “ravaging” had already ended.
After an unknown length of fierce struggle, the two of them had fought from the sofa all the way to the floor.
They had even knocked over the tea table, shattered the teacups, and left the wool carpet in complete disarray.
Only when both of them were utterly exhausted, and the effects of the drug within Selicia had completely worn off, did the battle finally come to an end.
Yet the strange scent lingering in the air, the traces that could not yet be erased, and the fact that both of them were still naked all testified to just how intense that battle had been.
With the battle over, what remained… was the “settlement.”
Selicia still sat astride Muen in an ambiguous posture, but the alluring charm that had once graced her delicate face had long since vanished.
Frost now cloaked her expression as she stared down at him coldly, her eyes brimming with killing intent.
Her ten fingers wrapped around Muen’s neck, tightening little by little as she repeated her question:
“Speak your last words. This is your final chance before death.”
“Then…”
Muen, completely drained, forced out a smile uglier than a grimace.
“If I do not say anything… does that mean I will not die?”
“It seems you still do not understand your situation.”
A terrifying chill suddenly blossomed at Selicia’s fingertips, instantly sweeping across half of Muen’s body. It brought him excruciating pain—and the shadow of death.
In that moment, Muen realized something.
This woman would truly kill him. Without hesitation.
Even after what had just happened between them.
“W-wait! I will talk! Let me explain!”
Muen could not help but shout in terror.
“I had a reason for doing this!”
“Heh, a reason?”
Selicia sneered coldly.
“I would very much like to hear what kind of reason could justify such a beastly act.”
“Because… because…”
Muen’s mind raced, desperately searching for an excuse.
Reincarnation, fate, prophetic dreams—those kinds of explanations would sound like obvious nonsense.
He needed something more believable.
For example, he could say he had simply tripped and accidentally dropped something into the tea.
Or that it was not a drug at all, but some kind of fitness supplement.
Or that everything that had just happened was merely a dream, and nothing had actually occurred.
But when the words reached his lips, they turned into something else entirely.
“That is because I like you, Selicia!”
“Eh?”
“…Ah.”
Selicia was clearly taken aback.
But she was not the only one shocked—Muen himself was just as stunned.
What the hell am I saying?!
Even if, in his previous life, he had always liked Selicia as a character—so much so that he had even bought her official life-size poster and placed it beside his bed just to see her first thing every morning—
there was no way he could fall in love so quickly with someone who had once existed only in fiction.
He was not some shut-in who treated fictional characters as his wife!
A slip of the tongue should not go this far!
Wait… could it be the influence of the original owner of this body?
He vaguely remembered that the original Muen had genuinely liked Selicia.
Otherwise, he would not have done something this foolish.
Damn it, you are already dead—stop dragging me down with you!
Muen roared inwardly.
But… since he had already said it…
Normally, when a girl is suddenly confessed to, she should at least feel a bit shy, right?
A flicker of desperate hope arose in Muen’s heart.
Maybe…
…
“So that is your disgusting reason?”
Selicia quickly regained her cold composure.
Her hands never left Muen’s throat, and she was not moved in the slightest by his confession. As for any so-called “shyness,” the one who looked closer to that description was Muen himself, pinned beneath her.
“Disgusting?”
Muen forced a grin. “Well… in a way, you could say this is a very sincere feeling…”
“You call this sincerity?”
Selicia suddenly interrupted him, her voice icy.
“Stealing a girl’s purity—does that count as sincerity?
Are you joking, Muen Campbell?!
If you truly liked me, you should have stood before me openly—using your character, your strength, and your sincerity—to win me over like a man!
Not resorting to something as despicable as drugging me!
If you had truly done that, even if I still did not fall in love with you, I might have honored the betrothal and become your wife.
But now…
Heh. Or do you naively believe that a mere physical relationship will make me develop feelings for you?
No, Muen Campbell. I will never fall in love with a despicable man who relies on schemes and tricks. And I will never marry a beast.”
Selicia leaned down, bringing her face close to his.
They were so close that they could feel each other’s breath—just like before.
But this time, what Muen felt was entirely different.
Through those ice-blue eyes, as cold as frozen seas, he seemed to glimpse something hidden deep within.
A pure white flame, burning brightly.
Yes… this was Selicia.
Selicia Leopold.
The first female protagonist of the original story.
Just like the line written on the poster Muen had once bought—
—She was forever proud, forever pure, a white swan who would never bow to evil or filth.
So even now, though she was unclothed and stained, she was still like a queen in full regalia, looking down upon a wretched sinner.
“So beautiful…” Muen murmured unconsciously as he gazed at the girl so close before him.
“Enough. You have said your piece. It is time for Young Master Muen to depart.”
Hearing his murmur, Selicia’s expression remained unchanged as she slowly tightened her grip.
“I hope that in your next life, you will remember my words and sincerely seek your own love.”
“Farewell…”
