Chapter 70: Mission Completed
The dungeon core was as big as an infant’s head.
Desther could barely hold it with his hand. It was very light, and Desther felt as if he were just lifting around half a kilogram of weight.
After he observed it for a bit, Desther no longer hesitated and crushed the dungeon core with his bare hand.
During his first dungeon a week ago, Desther had trouble breaking the dungeon core. Even hitting it with a bullet did not help during that time.
However, as of this moment, with Strength and Vitality reaching over 150 points, Desther squeezed the dungeon core as hard as he could with his bare hand.
This time, the dungeon crumbled like fragile glass. The shards fell to the ground one after the other before slowly dissolving to nothingness.
The next moment, a series of familiar notifications also flashed right in front of his eyes.
[ Dungeon Core Destroyed! ]
[ Your experience points have increased: +50% ]
[ Time until Dungeon Collapse: 19:59 ]
[ Get out of the Dungeon as soon as possible! ]
Since the dungeon was bigger, the time before it would completely collapse increased compared to the first time.
Now, he must exit the dungeon as soon as possible or else deal with the consequences if he ever gets stuck in the dungeon when the timer runs out.
With that being said, he did not linger in the area any longer and decided to make his way back to the exit portal.
The mission completion notification also appeared in front of his eyes, so Desther decided to check it immediately.
[ Mission Completed! ]
[ Mission reward: Experience Points +50%, Awakened Credits +2500 ]
[ Note: Awakened Credits has been sent to your bank account! ]
The notification elated Desther to the core.
Not only did his level increase to 9, but Awakened Credits were also rewarded to him.
Unfortunately, there was no internet signal inside the dungeon, so he could not check it yet.
Whether it was true or not, he would find out the moment he went inside.
As for questioning where this Awakened Credits came from, Desther decided not to bother.
The Title in itself was already an enigma, much like his Ultimate Thief talent. If he began questioning everything about it, Desther knew that it would only lead to even more trouble.
As they say, the more you know, the deeper you will be in the rabbit hole.
As of this moment, it was clear that the Title wanted him to be the savior of humanity.
Its description was plain to see.
Now, it was only telling him to kill monsters and destroy dungeons, but who knows what kind of mission it would give him in the future.
Desther knew that only time would tell.
He actually had some guess regarding who gave him the title as well. He had read countless novels, so a guess or two was just normal.
He doesn’t want to explore it that much, though. Lest he attracts unwanted attention.
His life as it was right now was already enough trouble for him. Momentary peace was rare, and every time spent outside a danger was a treasure.
More than ten minutes later, Desther arrived near the Exit Portal.
As of this moment, his getup was no longer the same as earlier.
Just wearing a plain white shirt and black shorts, even the ones he encountered earlier would not be able to recognize him. His hoodie had always been on his head as well. So as long as they did not have any clairvoyance-type of Awakened Professional, Desther would be safe.
He did this because he doesn’t want anyone to know that it was him who destroyed the dungeon and heavily injured those Awakened Professionals earlier.
Glancing around the Exit portal, those people were no longer present. From the looks of it, they might have already exited the dungeon a while ago.
Awakened Professional has already begun exiting the dungeon one after the other.
Even if he got out right now, he would not look out of place and would just seem like a random dude that tried to try his luck in a newly emerged dungeon.
As he moved forward, Desther also heard bits of information around him.
"Damn it! Just who the hell cleared the dungeon this quickly? Don’t they have any shame? I was just about to kill my second monster. I have a feeling that I will surely gain experience points on the next one. Too bad the dungeon is now cleared, and it will collapse in a few minutes!"
"For real, bruh! I was actually with Melascry earlier. The newly emerged dungeon truly lived up to expectations. Even Mutation, that guy over there with blonde hair, managed to earn 5% experience points. That guy is lucky!"
"Speaking of luck, I heard there’s a guy earlier that managed to earn 25% Experience Points for killing three Blastoads. What was that guy’s name again? Oh, right, I think his friends call him Sss."
"What a strange name. LOL, almost like a username or something."
"Hahaha! It’s actually not strange. A lot of young people nowadays call themselves that. They call it their superhero names or something. My son even calls himself TheFifthClover. Pretty cool, right? I’m pretty sure he will awaken a good talent in the future."
The voice faded behind him as Desther stepped into the exit portal.
After a moment of darkness and weightlessness, Desther felt the hard ground touching his foot.
When he came to it, he was already outside the dungeon, in the same park where the dungeon appeared.
Looking around, Desther saw that there were actually a lot of people present. Some familiar people that were inside the dungeon also got out one after the other.
Aside from them, he also saw people from the Professional Alliance as well as the government’s army.
They were now trying to ask questions to those who came out of the dungeon, trying to document everything that happened there.
Since Desther has no business being involved with them, he decided to slip out while everyone was still distracted.
With ordinary get up, enhanced senses and bodily control, Desther maneuvered himself out of the crowd safely.
The moment he looked back, the spot where he was earlier got overrun by people.
Glancing further back, he also saw the situation of the dungeon gate.
Grewing fainter, the dungeon gate slowly faded out of existence.
It was a spectacle that one rarely sees their entire life.
Dungeons were usually the harbinger of death and violence.
Ordinary people detest them to the core, as they claimed more lives than even wars on Earth were combined.
As if nothing had happened, the dungeon quietly disappeared out of everyone’s view.
If there were any Awakened Professional that died inside that dungeon, the best case scenario would be their body getting recovered by their comrades before the dungeon collapsed.
"A magnificent sight full of horror and dread, yet also signifies hope and beginning. Dungeon collapse is indeed a strange phenomenon, aren’t they?"
The voice resounded right beside him.
Desther turned his head to see who it was that suddenly spoke like a poet beside him.
