Chapter 233 - 234: Ghost Doll
’Growing hair was one thing, but there were ashes inside its body too?’
Su Nian grabbed the doll by the neck and wrenched off its once-pretty, chubby face.
She then tore its body into several pieces.
With a grim expression, Su Nian rubbed some of the strange ash from the floor between her fingers.
Xiao Lin couldn’t tell if it was just her imagination, but she had a distinct feeling the doll was about to come to life at any second, filling her with a shuddering dread.
Sure enough, a wisp of black, foul-smelling smoke began to drift out from the doll’s severed torso.
Even more terrifying, the smoke carried an unbearable stench, like that of a long-rotted corpse.
Yet there had only been white ash inside the doll.
Su Nian’s expression remained unchanged. She picked up a piece of the doll’s body, and with a slight squeeze of her slender fingers, the part crumbled into fragments.
Su Nian flicked her hands clean. ’This thing really knows how to play dead.’
But unexpectedly, the shattered pieces of the doll suddenly reassembled themselves.
An irresistible force slammed into them. Although it was broad daylight, the room instantly dimmed by several shades.
A gale began to howl through the room.
"HAHAHAHAHA!!! ALL OF YOU, DIE! ALL OF YOU, DIE!!!"
The doll stood up on its own. Its resin face, once inert, was now disturbingly animated.
Terrified, Xiao Lin stumbled backward. ’It’s really alive!’
[Damn, is this Chucky’s Revenge?]
[It had such a pretty face, but now it’s so sinister.]
[Weren’t there ashes inside it? It must be possessed by a ghost!]
Su Nian smirked. "Trying to pull a Transformers-combine routine on me?"
Before the demonic doll could even react, Su Nian flicked out a sheet of talisman paper.
She subdued it with ease, then proceeded to tear the newly-reassembled doll to smithereens once more.
Su Nian moved with extreme speed and ruthless precision. In a matter of seconds, the demonic doll that had just pieced itself together was now lying in a pathetic heap of fragments on the floor.
At the same time, Su Nian’s hand closed around something strange—a translucent, blackish-purple object.
It emitted an overpowering, putrid stench that made one’s eyes water.
Xiao Lin covered her nose, watching as Su Nian inexplicably pulled the object out from the pile of doll fragments. She had no time to mourn the loss of the doll; she just scrambled to stay clear.
It was just too foul!
The stench was so thick you could practically see it, as if the very fumes were colored.
Su Nian stared at the thing. It was incredibly light, like a transparent plastic bag. Peering through its blurry, deathly-still features, Su Nian spoke in a low voice.
"A child?"
When it didn’t respond, Su Nian’s fingers tightened. The bizarre purple thing let out a sound.
It whimpered like an injured animal cub.
"AARGH!"
The demonic doll tried to resist, but its soul form was already in Su Nian’s grip. She yanked it completely free.
She looked down on it, her gaze so intense it would make a ghost’s soul tremble—far more terrifying than the ordeal of being smashed to pieces.
Su Nian asked, "How did you latch onto this person?"
Silence. Su Nian didn’t waste any more words and simply pulled out another sheet of talisman paper.
"I’ll talk! I’ll talk!"
The demonic doll didn’t dare hold back any longer. "I-I’m not really sure! I was sealed inside this doll from the very beginning. By the time I woke up, I was already in her house."
[I think I just heard Heavenly Venerate say ’a child’?]
[So it’s a child’s ghost? And from the sound of it, he wasn’t intentionally targeting Xiao Lin. I think someone deliberately set this up to harm Xiao Lin!]
