Chapter 181 - 182: Burn with Fire
The things squirmed faster and faster, as if secretly growing. The girl’s face grew increasingly pale.
She struggled to pull the door handle open, her expression utterly ghastly.
The nanny rushed forward to catch her, but her eyes involuntarily darted to the girl’s back.
When she saw the dense mass writhing on her back, the nanny would have thrown the girl out on the spot if she didn’t have a shred of self-control.
’What the hell is this stuff? This is going to give me nightmares for life!’
"Streamer! Master! The things on her back, they look like they’re moving!"
The nanny had reached her breaking point. She couldn’t be bothered to call the girl "Miss" anymore. Instead, she shrieked at Su Nian in a complete meltdown.
’This job wasn’t worth the money!’
"Have her lie face down on the bed, then pat her back."
When the girl heard the nanny say that her back was moving, she almost passed out.
But upon hearing Su Nian’s instructions, and not being a complete fool, she quickly scrambled onto the bed.
She waited with a nervous expression for Su Nian’s verdict.
The nanny gently lifted the back of the girl’s shirt. One glance was all it took; she immediately leaned over the side of the bed and began to retch.
A dense patch of small, round, black bumps was embedded in her skin. Yet the surrounding flesh was a normal color, showing no sign of abnormality, as if these things had always been a part of her.
Su Nian watched intently, her expression unchanging, her fingers moving as she performed a quick divination for the girl.
The nanny and the online viewers lacked Su Nian’s composure. The nanny’s face was ashen; she’d been vomiting for a while. Now, as she pushed herself up, she didn’t dare make a sound, desperately trying to stifle her own breathing.
[HOLY SHIT, I’m seriously going to puke!]
[Eww~ Are those things still moving?!]
[I never thought I had trypophobia, but I do now. This is seriously terrifying!]
[This is scarier than any ghost!]
Then, in the dead silence, came a soft SQUELCH. As everyone watched, transfixed, another black dot pushed its way out of the girl’s lower back. That was the sound of the black dot piercing through her skin.
At the same time, the other small black orbs began to writhe frantically, as if not to be outdone. The sight was too much for the nanny. She wanted to flee.
And as she watched new ones emerge on the girl’s back, the nanny started to wonder: ’Could this stuff be contagious?’
Just then, one of the frantically writhing orbs, the one squirming most violently, looked like it was about to fall off.
PLOP...
A black orb dropped from her back.
The nausea the nanny had just suppressed came roaring back. With a loud "BLECH!", she doubled over and vomited on the floor again.
Lying on the floor, the black thing began to move as if it had a life of its own. It squirmed slowly, then began to uncurl.
It transformed from a sphere into a long, slender, worm-like creature, resembling an earthworm.
The nanny stared at the worm, unable to stop her mind from imagining that all the small, round, black orbs covering the girl’s back were actually coiled-up black worms just like this one.
"Quick, burn it with fire!"
There was a new urgency in Su Nian’s voice. She recognized this black worm; it went by another name.
The Corpse Worm!
The nanny had seen her fair share of trouble in life. Despite feeling sick to her stomach, she shakily pulled out a lighter, lit a tissue, and dropped it on the worm.
There was no way she was going to touch that thing with her bare hands.
"The things on your back have finished incubating. We have one option right now: burn them out with fire. Otherwise, you can come find me tomorrow and I’ll handle it. However, some of these worms are guaranteed to hatch tonight. If they get on anyone else, the consequences will be dire."
The girl trembled. She squeezed her eyes shut, then opened them again, her mind made up. The thought of her back crawling with black worms solidified her resolve. "Do it now! Burn them!" she said decisively. "Nanny, hurry! Get this done for me and I’ll have my mom give you a bonus. You can take a month off with full pay!"
Lured by the promise of a paid vacation, the nanny agreed immediately.
She then lit another tissue and moved it toward the girl’s back.
At this, the growths on her back began to stir with even greater agitation...
