Chapter 216: Healing Alita
Deep within the Rebel Army Mother Ship, the Crimson Throne glowed with a cold light.
The fingertips of Lord Red, who wore an Evil Ghost Mask, suddenly stilled. With a CRACK, the skull ornament he was toying with split in two.
He snapped his head up to look into the void, a purple mist swirling in the shadows of the mask’s eye sockets.
"What happened?"
The sound of hurried footsteps approached as a subordinate scrambled and stumbled into the hall, his knees hitting the floor with a dull thud.
"Leader! The Divine Army in the Otherworldly Space has been wiped out, and the spiritual power of the newly cultivated King Blood Beast has completely vanished."
"Who did it?"
Lord Red’s voice was as soft as a venomous snake flicking its tongue, yet the end of his words carried shards of ice that scraped painfully against the eardrums.
The subordinate’s back was soaked in a cold sweat, and his Adam’s apple bobbed violently.
"It was Su An’an and her Five Great Beast Husbands."
"Her again?"
Lord Red’s pupils constricted.
He raised a hand, and the Bone Hourglass materialized, hovering in midair.
The blood-red sand suddenly defied gravity, climbing up the glass walls to form a small vortex at the top.
His knuckles tapped against the edge of the hourglass, making soft, rhythmic sounds, as if counting down the final moments for his Prey.
The Dark Star Map was suddenly projected into the void opposite the throne.
The vortex of black mist that had represented the King Blood Beast exploded with a BOOM, turning into scattered ashes.
Two halos of light appeared out of thin air.
The pink one resembled crushed butterfly Phosphorus Powder, the golden one a crumpled Swan feather.
They chased each other affectionately along the star paths, occasionally colliding and creating tiny sparks of light.
"A little interesting."
Lord Red suddenly leaned forward, manipulating the Star Map to zoom in.
The phantom of the golden Swan abruptly spread its Wings.
It gathered four beast sigils—a White Tiger, a Poison Dragon, a Red Fox, and a mermaid—completely under its wings.
The moment the five colored halos converged, the entire Star Map trembled violently.
Even the blood-red sand in the hourglass paused for half a second.
「Meanwhile.」
The "life star of Louis," which should have been as bright as the Big Dipper, now resembled a moth-eaten cocoon.
It teetered precariously on the Star Map, its last glimmer of light about to be extinguished.
"Where is that useless piece of trash, Louis?"
Lord Red’s voice was cold enough to crack bone, his nails carving five deep gouges into the armrest of the throne.
"His identity has been exposed."
The subordinate’s teeth began to chatter.
"He’s... he’s locked in the lowest level of the Empire’s death row."
Lord Red suddenly flicked a finger, and a dark red pill shot through the air, landing with a CLINK at the subordinate’s feet.
The medicinal aroma was wrapped in the foul stench of rotting flesh.
"Louis no longer deserves to be human."
A sinister laugh came from under the mask. "This Blood Erosion Pill will show him what true power is."
The subordinate hastily grabbed the pill and scrambled out of the hall.
Lord Red leaned back into his throne, watching the two small, increasingly brilliant orbs of light on the Star Map.
The purple mist in the mask’s eye sockets suddenly coalesced into the shape of a venomous snake.
"Su An’an, you’ll be receiving this ’grand gift’ very soon."
「At the Empire Star Port, a Royal Battleship had just landed.」
Little Pink, in Su An’an’s hand, let out a piercing alarm.
"Princess Alita’s spiritual power threshold has fallen below the critical point! She’s not going to last much longer!"
"Get to the Royal Hospital, now!"
Su An’an shot to her feet, her butterfly wings trembling with urgency.
"Anan, don’t worry."
Night Abyss’s dragon tail gently wrapped around her waist, its black and gold scales radiating a soothing warmth.
Lan Cangming’s ice mist coalesced in his palm into calming incense, and the soft light of a Deep Sea Pearl washed over Su An’an’s belly.
"With the baby’s Purification Power, Princess Alita will be fine."
Su An’an touched the small orb of light that kicked gently in her belly. The tension in her shoulders eased slightly as she turned to look at Seville.
"Where’s the rest of the Toad King Crystal Flesh?"
Seville immediately pulled a cryo-chest from his spatial storage. The jade-green Crystal Meat inside glowed under the low temperature.
Its rich Life Force was practically bursting from the container. "I’ve kept it at a constant temperature. Its vitality hasn’t diminished."
"Cut half of it out."
Su An’an took the cut piece of Crystal Meat and sealed it in a thermal container, her fingertips still dotted with fine Ice Crystals.
"Leave the rest for Qiuqiu’s recovery."
As soon as the Royal Airship came to a stop, Su An’an dashed straight to the royal VIP hospital room.
The moment she pushed open the door, the heavy smell of medicine mixed with the stench of blood assaulted her senses.
Alita lay in a treatment pod, her long, satin-silver hair as withered as crumpled parchment.
Pink, bloody foam trickled from the corners of her mouth, blooming like desperate flowers on the transparent wall of the pod.
It was a sign of a spiritual power contract’s backlash reaching its absolute limit.
The blond, blue-eyed attending physician was in the middle of changing the third bag of blood plasma. He saw Su An’an enter and hurriedly straightened up.
"Third Princess, fissures have appeared in Princess Alita’s brain domain."
"The Queen just gave the order. If necessary, we can release Louis to temporarily placate the backlash."
"We won’t be needing that bastard!"
Su An’an’s butterfly wings spread with a SWISH, Phosphorus Powder bursting into the air like sparks.
She ripped the IV tube from Alita’s forehead, a pink-gold halo glowing in her palm.
She pressed it directly onto Alita’s sweat-drenched forehead.
"Stop!"
The attending physician lunged forward to stop her, but Ying Jiuyao pinned his shoulder with a single claw.
"Who are you to interfere while Anan is working?"
"Princess Alita’s spiritual barrier is already as thin as ice!"
The attending physician’s white coat was soaked with cold sweat, his voice trembling.
"Forcibly intervening will cause her brain domain to completely shatter! You’re killing her!"
Su An’an ignored his frantic shouts, secretly mobilizing the power of the Divine Fetus.
The golden, powdery light from her palm slowly seeped into the space between Alita’s eyebrows.
The alarm from the treatment pod suddenly changed pitch. The life-sign curve, which had been plummeting, actually began to rise slightly.
She turned to Seville, his Golden Wings still stained with undried blood.
"Hand me the Crystal Meat."
Seville immediately opened the thermal container. The Life Force from the jade-green Crystal Meat intertwined with Su An’an’s Divine Power, casting a soft, gentle glow on Alita’s pale face.
The doctor’s eyes widened. As he watched the fissures on the brain domain monitor slowly close, he suddenly stumbled back half a step.
"This... this is impossible."
"Nothing is impossible."
Su An’an’s voice was hoarse from overexerting her Divine Power, but her fingertips were as steady as a rock.
"Rather than trust that bastard Louis, I’d rather trust my own power, and her will to live."
"Ugh!"
A soft moan escaped Alita’s throat, and the ashen color of her face visibly returned to a healthy flush.
Her silver hair, once like withered grass, regained its pearlescent luster. The contract chains tightly wrapped around her brain domain shattered inch by inch in the golden, powdery light, dissipating into wisps of green smoke.
When the last wisp of black mist dissipated, the monitor BEEPED and switched to a steady green waveform.
"It worked!" Su An’an’s legs gave out, but Fei Zhao’s furry tail caught her just in time.
She raised a hand to wipe the cold sweat from her temple, but her butterfly wings still trembled slightly with lingering fear.
Alita slowly opened her eyes. Her once-dull, turquoise pupils were now astonishingly clear, like a deep sea just after the ice has broken.
She blinked, her voice hoarse from just waking up. "Anan? I feel like I just had a very long nightmare."
She suddenly wrinkled her nose and looked at the pale-faced, blond doctor beside her with undisguised disgust.
"I don’t know why, but seeing blond hair makes me feel sick."
Su An’an’s fingertips trembled, and the Phosphorus Powder from her butterfly wings rustled down onto the hospital bed.
"Do you remember Louis?"
"Who?"
Alita shook her head, her blue, cat-like eyes filled with confusion.
"I don’t remember him! I have no memory of him at all."
