Chapter 179: Seville’s Eye of Fate
Just then, Seville’s icy gaze swept over, and Su An’an subconsciously lowered her head to avoid it.
At that moment, Yan Tian suddenly flew into a rage, swinging his sharp claws at Seville.
"You have the nerve to show your face? Nicola’s disappearance happened right after she met with you."
"SWISH!"
A silver light flashed. Seville’s Feather Blade precisely sliced off a lock of hair from Yan Tian’s forehead.
With a beat of his Wings, a storm of black feathers hung like daggers before the throats of Yan Tian, Nemo, and Lu Chengfeng.
"You actually believe I would harm Nicola for Su An’an’s sake?"
His voice was laced with ice, and fury churned in his eyes.
Since retiring from the Interstellar music scene, he had been bombarded with countless insults, but none had ever enraged him like this.
The rumors calling him "love-crazed" and a "sycophant to the venomous Su An’an."
They made him want to tear the mastermind behind them to shreds.
Nemo’s shark-like eyes instantly turned bloodshot as he roared, interrupting,
"Stop pretending! You and Su An’an worked together on this."
The moment the words left his mouth, Seville’s hand clamped viciously around his neck, slamming the merman against the wall.
"Use that waterlogged brain of yours and think," Seville said, his tone dripping with cold contempt.
"If I were really going to kidnap her, would I leave behind such obvious evidence?"
"That’s enough! This isn’t the time for fighting!"
Lu Chengfeng took a step forward, his sharp gaze fixed on Seville.
"I’ve heard the Golden Feather Clan excels at divination and tracking. If you want to prove your innocence, then help us find Nicola."
"Are you threatening me?"
Seville raised an eyebrow, his amber pupils constricting as the pressure around him dropped.
His Wings spread slightly, the black feathers glinting coldly in the moonlight. "With your strength?"
Lu Chengfeng’s wolf ears stood ramrod straight. "If anything happens to Nicola, you and Su An’an will be nailed to the Empire’s pillar of shame!"
"You don’t want your reputation ruined, do you?"
"Silver Wolf!"
A red Fox Fire ignited on Fei Zhao’s fingertips, and he hurled it at Lu Chengfeng’s feet.
"Watch your words! Don’t forget who cured your genetic collapse!"
Lu Chengfeng gritted his teeth and took half a step back, but he still held his head high with defiance.
"I admit I have been disrespectful to the Third Princess, but all the evidence points to you!"
"If you want to prove your innocence, you have to find Nicola."
"Nicola is my Female Master. She is the most important person in the world to me."
"Once my Female Master is found, my life is yours to command, Princess!"
"What would I do with your life?"
Su An’an fiddled with her communicator, her brow furrowed. "I also want to know who used my insignia without permission."
"Seville, do the divination!"
Lu Chengfeng looked at Seville.
Yan Tian suddenly stepped forward, his Dragon Scales glowing with a dangerous red light.
"Seville, don’t tell me you have a guilty conscience?"
Nemo’s shark-like eyes stared fixedly at him.
"Or is it that you don’t dare to prove your innocence?"
Seville suddenly let out a low laugh, a sound like an ice blade scraping across glass. "Trying to provoke me? It won’t work!"
The expressions of Lu Chengfeng, Yan Tian, and Nemo changed drastically. The Energy around them surged, and it looked like they were about to attack.
"However!" Seville suddenly sneered, his black Wings reflecting a cold light.
"I’m also very curious. Which brainless fool dared to use me as a pawn?"
"Hasn’t your Holy Power been depleted?"
Su An’an couldn’t help but ask.
Seville shot her a sidelong glance. "She wasn’t kidnapped by a Black Priest."
He turned his gaze to Lu Chengfeng. "Bring me one of Nicola’s personal belongings. The older it is, the better it will work."
Lu Chengfeng pulled a cracked Support Bracelet from his pocket. The gold-leaf signature on it was mottled and faded.
"Six years ago, when Nicola was on the verge of death from a genetic disorder, you personally delivered this to her in the intensive care unit in the slums."
A memory flashed, and Seville’s pupils constricted sharply.
A rainy night six years ago. The lights of the intensive care unit were deathly pale.
On the hospital bed, a small female cat-beast was curled into a ball, her dull fur sparse and matted.
Her small, thin body, covered in tubes, trembled slightly.
"Brother Seville!"
Her breath was as faint as a thread, yet she still tried to lift the corners of her mouth into a smile.
"I love... your singing the most!"
Who would have thought that this little female from the slums, struggling with a genetic disorder,
would now be the daughter of the Alliance President?
"You had just debuted back then,"
Lu Chengfeng’s voice seemed to come from far away.
"You said you would forever protect the smile of every one of your fans."
"Shut up."
His Wings suddenly trembled uncontrollably. Seville snatched the bracelet from him.
In his memory, the small beast-child’s paw was tightly gripping his finger.
That faint grip seemed to pierce through time, searing his palm.
"Nicola struggled in the slums until she was twelve."
Lu Chengfeng’s voice was like it was coming from behind a layer of ice.
"After she was found and brought to the President’s Mansion, she always said your singing was what kept her alive..."
"Enough!"
Seville cut him off coldly.
Two pure white Divination Bones were thrown into the air, tracing a golden trajectory.
The bracelet hovered within the intertwining Star Map before finally stopping.
"Five hundred kilometers north of Black Star, in an abandoned mine."
Seville’s brow furrowed tightly.
’Isn’t that the place where I rescued Qiuqiu?’
A sense of foreboding spread through his heart.
"Let’s go!"
Yan Tian and Nemo grabbed Lu Chengfeng and were about to rush out.
"Stop."
Seville’s voice was like an Ice Cone piercing the air.
He bit the tip of his finger, and the blood drew a striking vertical mark between his eyebrows. His eyes were suddenly veiled in a dark golden mist.
It was the sign of the Golden Feather Clan’s forbidden art, the [Holy Eye].
Night Abyss’s brow tightened. He said in a low voice, "He’s overdrawing his own life force to read the threads of fate?"
He lowered his voice even more. "It’ll take him at least two months to recover from this."
Su An’an said nothing. She trusted that Seville had his reasons for doing this.
Seville’s gaze swept over the three beastmen, and blood-red threads appeared in his eyes. "You will all die."
His voice turned abruptly chilling. "Nicola, too!"
"Bullshit!"
Yan Tian’s Dragon Scales flared. "Who the fuck are you cursing?"
Nemo’s shark-like teeth glinted coldly. "Stop with your voodoo bullshit!"
"Shut up!"
Lu Chengfeng’s wolf claw slammed onto the ground, the shockwave knocking Yan Tian and Nemo back three steps.
A silver light gleamed in his eyes. "How dare you be disrespectful to a Holy Priest?"
Legend said that those who blasphemed a Priest would have their souls shredded by the threads of fate!
Yan Tian and Nemo instantly sobered up, cold sweat soaking their backs.
"THUD! THUD! THUD!"
Three muffled thuds of knees hitting the ground.
Yan Tian’s Dragon Scales, Nemo’s shark fin, and Lu Chengfeng’s wolf tail all lowered simultaneously as they pressed their right fists to their hearts.
This was the highest form of salute in the Beast Clan.
Lu Chengfeng’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he spoke with fealty.
"Holy Priest, our lives are worthless. We only beg you to save Nicola!"
Seville’s gaze, like a cold blade, swept across the beastmen, lingering for a moment on Su An’an and her Four Great Beast Husbands.
The blood mark between his brows suddenly flickered violently. He pressed a hand to his temple, a trace of pain on his face.
"Will we... die too?"
Su An’an’s voice was tight, her fingertips unconsciously digging into her palm.
Seville looked up, the gold in his eyes receding like a tide, revealing a rare look of confusion. "No."
"Fate dictates that everyone must go. Only then will Nicola have a chance of survival."
The air instantly froze.
