Chapter 2588 - 2587: Returning to the Village
Ling Feng stayed in the Xuanling Realm for a few days and then returned to the Parallel Universe.
Li Chunxi has already gotten used to her identity as a pregnant woman, and now she isn’t as clingy with Ling Feng. She spends most of her time resting in her chamber.
Meanwhile, Ling Feng is focused on developing various aspects of work here, such as agriculture, electricity, and educational establishments.
There are specialists handling the details, but logistical support is something he needs to oversee.
After all, he has the spaceship, and transporting various goods back and forth, as well as coordinating mineral allocations in Australia and dock construction, requires him to shuttle back and forth.
Ling Feng is a bit busy, but he feels a great sense of fulfillment.
As electricity development gradually advances, every province of the Li Dynasty now has a power station. Some rely on hydropower, others on wind and fusion generators. The basic needs of the people can be satisfied.
However, the territory of the Li Dynasty is so vast that there are currently only a little over twenty power stations, serving about twenty million people, all of whom live in provincial capitals or nearby areas.
As for the counties and towns wanting to use electricity as well, it’ll take some time.
This includes setting up schools; these aren’t matters that can be done overnight but require slow and steady effort.
Ling Feng isn’t in a hurry; instead, seeing daily progress at work brings him a lot of accomplishment.
This is different from his world, where the technology level is already developed, whereas in the Li Dynasty, it’s starting from scratch, which means the sense of achievement is naturally different.
After being busy for several days, Ling Feng finally had some free time to rest, so he returned to Li Chunxi’s chamber.
Entering the room, he found Xiangxue there, and Ling Feng was suddenly stunned.
"You’re surprised, aren’t you?"
Li Chunxi smiled and then said, "I took the spaceship to Antarctica and then brought her here!"
"You little girl, when did you sneak off?"
Ling Feng widened his eyes: "The environment there isn’t good; aren’t you afraid of freezing?"
"I didn’t get off the spaceship. When I arrived, Xiangxue came out to greet me!"
Li Chunxi said matter-of-factly and then added, "Besides, I didn’t go to the Underground City; I brought her back directly!"
"Oh."
Ling Feng understood and realized they had a good relationship. Xiangxue counts as Li Chunxi’s only female friend. So, he nodded and smiled, "Since you’re here, stay a few more days. You two can chat more, so Chunxi won’t feel bored."
This was said to Xiangxue, who nodded after hearing it and then said, "Yes, I’ll stay for a few more days. Anyway, there’s not much happening in the Underground City right now."
"Great!"
Ling Feng smiled and then said, "Then I won’t disturb you; I happen to have some things to attend to!"
"Do you want to leave right after coming?" Li Chunxi asked.
"I just came to see you. Now that you have company, I have nothing to worry about!"
Ling Feng said and then turned around to leave.
He actually didn’t have any specific tasks; saying that was just to avoid awkwardness.
When two women are together, it’s best not to get involved—it’s a learned experience!
After leaving the Imperial Palace, Ling Feng honestly didn’t know what he was going to do. He thought about it and decided to visit Shiliu Village.
Although he frequently passed through the village recently, it was primarily for transporting goods, and he hadn’t had time to stop and stay for a while.
Taking advantage of this free moment, he decided to check on how Ling Baoguo has been doing lately.
After a flight, Ling Feng arrived at Shiliu Village and reached Ling Baoguo’s doorstep.
The house was quiet, and after Ling Feng entered the yard and called out, Ling Baoguo hurriedly ran out from inside!
Seeing Ling Feng, he immediately laughed and said, "You still remember to come back?"
"Sorry, I’ve been a bit busy lately!"
Ling Feng scratched his head, feeling quite close to this elder.
Ling Baoguo felt the same way. Biologically speaking, they didn’t share direct relations, but if a DNA test were done, there would definitely be a genetic connection. The existence of the Parallel Universe creates such subtle circumstances.
Following Ling Baoguo into the house, Ling Feng saw that the environment hadn’t changed much, except for a new 55-inch flat-screen TV. He smiled and asked, "How’s life lately?"
"Couldn’t be better!"
Ling Baoguo said and then smiled, "Now, the grain and vegetables in our village are provided by Ling Corporation, and the local people hardly get sick. Life is quite delightful!"
Ling Feng chuckled, "Well, you’re out of business now, huh?"
"Saying that, curing isn’t the doctor’s sole wish. Don’t you remember the family’s code of conduct?" Ling Baoguo laughed.
"What code?" Ling Feng asked.
He honestly didn’t remember. It seems neither his father nor his grandfather ever mentioned it.
"May there be no sickness in the world, even if dust settles on medicines on the shelf!" Ling Baoguo said.
"Oh, there’s such a saying?"
Ling Feng was taken aback and then immediately felt a surge of respect.
Ling Baoguo continued with a smile, "It’s good if the villagers don’t get sick. I’m not short of money now, thanks to you. I’m now well-off in terms of food and drink!"
"Well, that’s good!"
Ling Feng nodded and then asked, "By the way, why are you home alone?"
"My wife went to the market with her sister; today is the opening day of our town’s market!" Ling Baoguo said.
"Oh, no wonder I saw so many people bustling in town!"
Ling Feng nodded. This town, every lunar 3rd, 6th, and 9th day, gathers businesses from miles around. The locals also come to buy some household goods; this tradition has continued for hundreds of years.
Although small items can be bought ordinarily in town, on market days, a large range of goods converges, providing a much wider selection, so people prefer going to the market on those days.
"Ling Feng, I’m telling you, since you’re here, you can’t leave anywhere today; you must stay for dinner at my place!" Ling Baoguo said.
Looking at the time, it was just midday. Ling Feng smiled and nodded, "Alright, but you don’t cook, so I’d better cook!"
"That’s not right, you’re the guest!"
Ling Baoguo glared, "You stay here; I’ll go cut some meat. When my wife returns, they’ll cook!"
Watching him hurry off, Ling Feng chuckled and pulled a chair to sit down.
To be honest, since discovering the Shiliu Village in the Parallel Universe, Ling Feng has considered it his home.
It’s just a pity that his father and grandfather aren’t here.
If history hadn’t changed, it would be wonderful to see them again!
