Chapter 1724 - 1723: The Walls
Seeing Ling Feng return, Lin Xue beamed with joy, stood up, and said, "You’re back! You’ve been gone quite a while this time!"
"Yeah, finally back. I was nearly dying of homesickness!"
Ling Feng chuckled, sat down, and asked, "What are you busy with? You look so serious."
Lin Xue smiled and turned the monitor towards him.
Seeing the poker game on the screen, Ling Feng was speechless!
Turns out, this girl wasn’t handling some official business seriously, but playing games!
"So relaxed, huh? Nothing much going on lately?" Ling Feng asked.
"More or less!"
Lin Xue nodded. "The monster invasion has been dealt with, just wrapping up the final bits now!"
"What kind of wrap-up work?"
Ling Feng was a bit puzzled and asked.
"There are so many monsters, their bodies need to be disposed of, which is a hassle!" Lin Xue explained.
Ling Feng responded with an "oh," smiled, and said, "Just burn them with the Five Elements Fruit, how big of a hassle could it be?"
Lin Xue sighed, "That still requires moving them. We can’t use one Five Elements Fruit for each monster; it would be too wasteful!"
"I see!"
Ling Feng nodded and then asked, "Is everyone okay? How is everything at home?"
"For that, you’d better go to the Nine Heavens yourself. I feel like you can’t sit still anymore, so just go!" Lin Xue said.
"Hehe, you really know me well!"
Ling Feng said, then without further ado, teleported to the Nine Heavens!
Upon arrival, he rushed to the First Layer and immediately scooped up his precious daughter!
The little girl was chubby and fair, with big dark eyes curiously looking at him, seemingly a bit unfamiliar.
Seeing this, Ling Feng felt a pang of sorrow, "It’s been so long since I’ve been back; she doesn’t even recognize me anymore!"
"Such a small child doesn’t have much memory yet, not recognizing you is normal!"
Li Shiyun smiled and then asked, "How did it go outside?"
"More than just well!"
Ling Feng smiled, cradling his daughter as he sat down, and slowly recounted his overseas adventures.
Li Shiyun looked at him tenderly, listening quietly, occasionally a gentle smile gracing her lips, creating a very warm atmosphere.
Ling Feng had no intention of leaving after returning, spending the entire day with her and their daughter, enjoying a happy day.
The next morning, feeling like something was unresolved in his sleep, Ling Feng opened his eyes and turned to look at Li Shiyun beside him.
Seemingly in sync with him, she also opened her eyes, then softly asked, "What’s up?"
"I feel like I forgot something; I remember there’s something big to do after coming back!" Ling Feng said with a wry smile.
Li Shiyun looked at him, blinked her eyes, "Isn’t it about the City of Gold?"
"That’s it!"
Ling Feng realized, then sat up, "I knew it, how could I forget such a big thing!"
"Then go take a look. The gold isn’t in the Nine Heavens; it’s all been moved to Lingyun Island!" Li Shiyun laughed.
Ling Feng was stunned, "Why was it sent there?"
"It was decided after discussion, worried that energy in the Nine Heavens might not suffice, making it unreachable, and other places don’t have such a large area for storage, so it was sent there!" Li Shiyun explained.
"Alright, I’ll go take a look, and come back to find you later!" Ling Feng got out of bed.
Li Shiyun nodded, softly saying, "Go ahead!"
Teleporting to Lingyun Island, Ling Feng was taken aback.
The place had undergone significant changes, the entire island was surrounded by walls, and the previously vast view was gone; all he could see was a circle of walls about ten meters high. Even standing on everyone’s two-story houses couldn’t see the ocean beyond.
Moreover, half of the island was now planted with various trees, lush and green like a small forest.
Ling Feng saw various trees, including fruit trees, adorning Lingyun Island like a forest park.
Not only that, but the remaining half of the land was also put to use, planted with crops of various colors, growing vigorously.
Seeing the transformed Lingyun Island, Ling Feng was overjoyed, feeling the place had a more utopian charm.
He then went to Gu Li’s office and immediately asked, "Whose idea was it to build such high walls, affecting the view?"
"It’s meant to block the view; staring at the open sea for too long isn’t good and can affect one’s mood!"
Gu Li said, then chuckled, "Besides, the island’s area is limited, if we don’t build walls, where can we store the gold you brought?"

Ling Feng was startled, turned and looked at him in surprise, "These walls are built with gold?"

Ling Feng was speechless again, then shook his head, "What an idea, but isn’t using all this gold as walls a bit too wasteful?"
"Not really, if we need money, we can always dismantle part of the gold to exchange, then refill the walls with other materials. Although it takes some effort, it’s the best solution we have!" Gu Li explained.
"Alright then."
Ling Feng smiled wryly, then asked, "Whose idea was this? Was it Li Fei’er?"
"Indeed it was her!"
Gu Li laughed, "Everyone was exhausted from transporting the City of Gold. When the gold arrived here, Ah Min and I were stunned. Had it not been for Fei’er suggesting building walls, no one would know what to do, thinking this island was going to be your treasure vault!"
"Well, on that note, I really need to thank everyone!"
Ling Feng nodded, then asked, "By the way, have they all returned to their posts?"
"Yes, they’ve been back for a while. A monster invasion of this magnitude must be taken seriously!" Gu Li replied.
Ling Feng nodded, "Alright, seems like I need to thank everyone and visit each place individually!"
"Boss, before you see them, I suggest you head to the Capital City first. Have you notified Director Han of your return?" Gu Li asked.
"No, I haven’t notified him!"
Ling Feng laughed and continued, "I’m afraid if I notify him, I’ll lose my freedom again!"
Gu Li understood his meaning but still laughed and said, "I’d suggest contacting Director Han; he doesn’t know you’re back. If he finds out, he’d definitely want to see you immediately!"
Ling Feng was taken aback and asked, "Why? Is something big happening?"
