The Greatest Village Doctor In The World

Chapter 683: Mysterious Jar

By this time, dusk had gradually fallen, and soon the sunlight disappeared, signaling the onset of night in the mountains and fields.

As Ling Feng and Zhou Yi were talking, they suddenly felt something watching them and looked up together!

To their shock, nestled among the treetops, a pair of deep blue eyes gazed down at them!

"What is that?"

Ling Feng was astonished, and after a careful look, he realized that the two blue lights were slowly moving, following a peculiar trajectory that seemed to glide at will among the branches!

"It’s a python!"

Zhou Yi whispered, subconsciously moving closer to Ling Feng’s body.

No matter how tough she was, she was still a girl, inherently afraid of such cold-blooded creatures.

Ling Feng pulled her behind him and immediately said, "Don’t be afraid, I’m here!"

"Why don’t we just leave? Let’s not bother with it!" Zhou Yi suggested softly.

"No way, this fellow is so big, it must be something special, I want to see what it’s guarding," Ling Feng said.

After finishing, Ling Feng looked back at Zhou Yi and added, "Usually, such creatures are guarding some treasure!"

"Then be careful not to get bitten," Zhou Yi warned.

Ling Feng smiled slightly, thinking to himself that a giant python was nothing; he had already dealt with a giant octopus, after all.

He drew the God Slayer Saber and with a leap, he was already on a thick tree trunk!

Now he could see clearly that those blue eyes indeed belonged to a giant python!

This creature was thicker than a grown man’s thigh and over ten meters long, sprawled on the treetops and truly terrifying.

Ling Feng felt a bit apprehensive about the creature but had already made a promise to Zhou Yi, so there was no way he could back down now; without another word, his blade thrust forward!

Although the giant python was cumbersome, its head was quite agile; it dodged the saber by merely tilting its head and then opened its massive jaws to shoot out two streams of white liquid!

"Damn, it has that kind of attack too?"

Ling Feng was taken aback by the surprise attack. Without time to think, he leapt up, reaching an even higher branch.

No sooner had his feet touched the trunk when he sensed an ominous whistling behind him, so he ducked down immediately and felt something sweep over his head.

Looking up, he realized it was the giant python’s tail; had it hit him, his head would surely have been injured!

"Not bad, it’s got some skill!"

Ling Feng sneered and decided not to waste any more time. He leapt to another branch and launched another fierce stab with his sword!

If the creature was so agile, there was no need to aim for its vital parts; with such a long body, he just needed to stab randomly and surely it would wear down!

Indeed, after just a few slashes, the python was covered with several gashes, and in pain, it started to thrash frenetically amongst the branches, shaking the entire canopy.

This creature weighed hundreds of pounds, so it was no surprise it was so powerful, Ling Feng thought as he continued his attack, wishing he had time to make a roast feast of it for Wang Cai and his family—they would be overjoyed!

A moment later, the python had countless wounds, and thankfully it couldn’t scream, or else its cries would have pierced the heavens.

As its movements grew slower, Ling Feng knew it was at the end of its strength, so he unexpectedly struck its head with his saber!

"Pu!"

With a muffled sound, the blade embedded in the python’s head, causing it to stiffen momentarily before its body went limp and slid down the tree trunk, piling up on the ground!

Even knowing the python was dead, Zhou Yi kept her distance, looking at it with disgust, unwilling to come closer.

Ling Feng didn’t rush to descend from the tree; while moving through the branches earlier, he had spotted something placed among them—a small black object.

So taking advantage of the python’s defeat, he quickly jumped onto the branch and went to check the item.

On closer inspection, it was a round jar, made of black earthenware, evidently quite ancient.

Ling Feng didn’t rush to reach out for it but carefully observed it first, in case the surface of the jar was poisonous.

After scrutinizing it and confirming that there was nothing on the pottery but a layer of dust, Ling Feng reached out and took it.

It felt ice-cold to the touch, and a strong chill struck him, leaving Ling Feng stunned!

This was not a temperature that pottery could possess; what was inside it?

Caught in his astonishment, Zhou Yi couldn’t help but ask in a low voice from under the tree, "Ling Feng, what’s wrong?"

"It’s nothing, I’ll come down right now," he replied.

After saying that, Ling Feng firmly grasped the jar and then jumped down from the tree.

"I found this, but I don’t know what it is."

Approaching Zhou Yi, he handed over the jar that was in his hand.

"What’s this?"

Zhou Yi, full of curiosity, took the jar into his hands to take a closer look but exclaimed as soon as he grabbed it, "It’s so hot!"

"Huh?"

Ling Feng startled, quickly asked, "You think it’s hot?"

"Yeah, why is it so hot?" Zhou Yi asked.

Ling Feng took the jar back into his own hands, his face registering shock: "But I feel it’s really cold!"

"How is that possible?"

Zhou Yi’s eyes went wide with disbelief, feeling as if he had misheard.

After several trials, she indeed found the jar scorching to touch, while Ling Feng constantly felt it was cool and icy!

"It’s indeed a strange thing. Shall we open it and have a look?" Ling Feng asked.

Zhou Yi hesitated for a moment, "Let’s not. We’ll study it after we get back. It’s more important to chase after that person now!"

"Alright, we’ll just keep it for now!"

Ling Feng nodded, placed the jar into the Space Ring, then turned to look at the Giant Python’s corpse, feeling it was a waste to leave it there, so he chuckled and moved closer to collect it as well.

Zhou Yi watched from the side, somewhat puzzled, "Why are you collecting it?"

"We’ll roast and eat it when we get back!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.

"Ugh..."

Zhou Yi was at a loss for words and made a face of disgust, "That’s disgusting, can you even eat that?"

"You’ll know once it’s cooked!"

Ling Feng chuckled, took her hand, and said, "Come on, if they didn’t rest, they might have already reached their destination by now!"

"Okay!"

Zhou Yi nodded, and the two set off again, heading deeper into the mountains.

In the night, the depths of the mountains were occasionally filled with the sounds of insects and birds, adding to the mystery of the mountain.

After walking for an hour, they finally reached the location Zhou Yi had marked on the map.

This was a solitary peak, with the surrounding mountains hundreds of meters away from it. It stood alone in a large clearing, markedly prominent.

"Even without the map, just seeing this place would strike one as strange!" Ling Feng said, glancing around, then turned back with a smile.

"True, but despite thousands of years, no one has discovered the peculiarity of this place!" Zhou Yi said with a smile.
