Chapter 601 Wrong Person
Ling Feng paused for a moment, then realized what was being said, "You’re right, the person who has this item must be extraordinary!"
"Exactly, to get it, we have to offer something that really appeals to them!" Lin Huaqiang said with a wry smile.
Ling Feng thought for a moment, the only thing he had of value was a top-grade Spirit Stone!
So he tentatively asked, "What about a Spirit Stone? They should be interested in that, right?"
"Hm?"
Lin Huaqiang was stunned for a second, "You still have that thing on you?"
"I do, and if they’re willing to trade, three, five, ten, or even eight pieces would be fine!" Ling Feng nodded.
Lin Huaqiang: "..."
"You’re really something!"
After that somewhat baffling remark, he continued, "Alright, I’ll handle this for you. We can’t let that guy get off too easy, what with your ten or eight pieces talk, I think one piece should be enough to sway him!"
"Then I’ll have to trouble Uncle Lin."
Ling Feng smiled and hung up the phone.
Looking up, he noticed everyone staring at him with burning eyes, Ling Feng with a puzzled face said, "What are you guys doing?"
"Kid, you still have top-grade Spirit Stones?"
Wang Laogen asked with bright, shining eyes.
Ling Feng: "..."
He had seen Lin Huaqiang’s call and, in his excitement, forgot to step aside. Now it was too late for regrets!
It wasn’t just Wang Laogen, both Chu Nan and Lu Zihao were staring at him with those burning eyes too!
"Can everyone stop looking at me like that, please? I’m a guy!" Ling Feng said helplessly.
"Kid, that’s not cool of you!" said Wang Laogen.
Ling Feng wore an innocent face, "How am I not cool?"
Wang Laogen: "Aren’t you being a bit too secretive with us? Keeping the good stuff to yourself?"
Ling Feng glared, "What, am I supposed to give it to you for free?"
That response left Wang Laogen rolling his eyes, who then said indignantly, "We’re still working for you, and you show no appreciation at all!"
"Yeah, Ling Feng is just a miser, despite the fact that I made all those bullets for you!" added Zhang He, fueling the fire.
"Hey, getting worked up now, are we?"
The moment Ling Feng heard this, a top-grade Spirit Stone the size of a fist suddenly appeared in his hand, and he waved it in front of everyone before asking, "Come on, can any of you appraise this for me? How much is this Spirit Stone worth?"
"Uh..."
Everyone’s eyes widened. A Spirit Stone that big and top-grade too, was incredibly rare!
Seeing the look in their eyes, Ling Feng chuckled, "Can’t estimate its value, huh? Anyway, it’s definitely worth more than the crab meat from yesterday, right?"
Everyone: "..."
"You guys did a job worth two million for me, and you want to charge me twenty million, does that make sense?" Ling Feng asked with a smile.
His words left everyone speechless. They looked at each other, not knowing what to say.
There’s a limit for jesting, Ling Feng knew when to stop, aware that continuing would be inappropriate, so he suddenly changed the topic, "You all came a long way to help me, and such camaraderie can’t be measured with money, can it?"
Seeing everyone’s dazed looks, he chuckled again, "So, in honor of our friendship, I’ll give each of you one!"
"For real?"
Wang Laogen’s eyes had never left the spirit stone and his mouth was practically watering.
"Old Wang, can you restrain yourself a bit? Didn’t I give you some last time? Why are you still like this?" Ling Feng said helplessly.
"Who would say no to more of these? Tell me, Ling Feng, just how many high-quality spirit stones do you have?" Wang Laogen finally shifted his gaze and asked him.
"Well, I’m still not going to tell you, as long as I have enough, that’s all that matters!" Ling Feng laughed.
Wang Laogen curled his lip. "Fine, if you don’t want to say it, forget it. But for that thing, you would part with ten or eight spirit stones just like that. What is it that you want?"
"That, you’ll all know once I get my hands on it," Ling Feng said with a smile.
Wang Laogen used to love keeping people in suspense, dragging out stories just to whet their appetites. Now it was time for him to get a taste of his own medicine.
Sure enough, as soon as the old man heard this, his face showed resignation: "Alright, alright, I don’t even want to ask anymore!"
Ling Feng glanced at the time and turned to look at everyone: "Folks, it’s getting late, shall we start working?"
"As long as you give me that spirit stone, I’d happily work for another ten or eight days!" Zhang He nodded and said.
Even Lu Zihao, who usually didn’t talk much, now nodded slightly: "Okay, let’s hurry up and move the goods. The sooner we finish, the better!"
Ling Feng nodded and then looked at Li Fei’er: "Your dad will be here soon. I’m going to move the goods first, and we can talk when he arrives."
"Okay!"
Li Fei’er nodded. With everyone’s protection, she was already feeling a lot more stable and not as tense as before.
Half an hour later, the second batch of crabs was brought out. Everyone was chatting while cleaning the crab meat until Li Jianshe arrived at Ling Feng’s house.
Ling Feng didn’t treat him as an outsider and led him straight into the backyard. Upon seeing the giant crab shells scattered all over the ground, he was startled.
"We can explain this later, Mr. Li, please take a seat first, and let me introduce everyone," Ling Feng said.
After introducing everyone, Ling Feng started explaining the details of the events that had just unfolded.
Li Jianshe listened with furrowed brows and pondered for a moment before looking up at the crowd: "Thank you all for helping my daughter."
Then he changed the subject: "But if you’re investigating Yu Mei, you’re looking in the wrong direction!"
"Huh? What do you mean?" Wang Laogen asked.
Li Jianshe gave a bitter smile: "I can confirm that this Yu Mei is an impostor!"
"What?"
The most shocked of all present was Li Fei’er. She quickly looked at her father: "Why?"
"Fei’er, there are some things I was planning to tell you when you came of age, but now that this has happened, I have no choice but to tell you!"
Li Jianshe’s face was bitter as he continued: "Your mother has passed away; she left this Mortal World when you were five years old!"
"Then, who is this person I saw before and today?" Li Fei’er’s expression changed, her face turning pale.
"It’s your mother’s twin sister; her name is Yu Hua."
Everyone: "..."
The situation seemed complicated and bizarre, possibly involving emotional entanglements or grievances of influential families. Chu Nan spoke gravely: "So that’s how it is!"
He said that to stop Li Jianshe from continuing his explanation, as it related to personal privacy and listening to it would serve no real purpose.
Afterward, he turned to look at Wang Laogen: "No wonder your men haven’t found anything yet; you’ve been looking for the wrong person!"
Wang Laogen nodded: "Exactly, I’ll correct that right away and have them look into this Yu Hua!"
"If you all want to know something, I’ll tell you, there’s no need to investigate," Li Jianshe offered.
"Do you know if she has any other identities? Like any involvement with the Black Dragon Sect?" Wang Laogen asked.
"The Black Dragon Sect? What’s that?" Li Jianshe asked blankly.
