Chapter 576: Radiant
A flash of white light, and the four of them were already back at the cliffs outside.
It was still the break of dawn at the time, the sun had not risen yet, and the sky was tinged with a rosiness that resembled flames.
Some people were on guard nearby, and they were almost falling asleep when the glaring white light suddenly woke them up. After that, they stared dumbfounded at the four people, then sprang to their feet and ran!
While running, the person shouted, "Uncle Guang, it’s bad, they’re out!"
Ling Feng had a face full of black lines, "Who’s the silly kid in that family, we’re not some sort of monsters!"
"He’s Uncle Guang’s godson, indeed a bit slow," Li Shiyun said with a smile.
Now that her mission was accomplished, she could stay with Ling Feng for a long time. Her face was filled with a bright smile that seemed to come from deep within, as if covered with a layer of holy light, making her appear radiant.
Ling Yao curiously surveyed the surrounding environment. Three thousand years had passed, and describing it as the sea becoming mulberry fields was not an overstatement—this place was completely different from her memories!
In about a minute, a large group of people came running from the front, including Professor Du, Li Wannian, and Lu Zihao, with the rest being from the Li Family.
It was evident that to be ready for someone coming out of the Secret Realm at any time, those outside were on constant alert, not relaxing at all.
Otherwise, their reaction wouldn’t have been this swift.
"Ling Feng, I didn’t expect you all to come out so quickly, tell me, how much time this time?" Professor Du, despite his age, was quite agile, running even faster than Lu Zihao and was the first to rush up to Ling Feng.
Seeing everyone’s expectant faces, Ling Feng chuckled, "There’s a lot of time this time, about thirty to fifty years."
"What?"
Professor Du was taken aback, then put on a serious face, "Don’t fool around, young man, tell the truth, how long do we have!"
"It’s true, thirty to fifty years. The issue with the seal has been resolved, and Shiyun and I won’t need to enter that Secret Realm again!" Ling Feng said.
...
Everyone exchanged glances, still not quite believing it.
Seeing this, Li Shiyun had to say, "Grandfather, Professor, it’s true. Ling Feng solved the seal’s problem, there won’t be any crisis for a while!"
"My goodness!"
Now Professor Du believed, his mouth open wider than an egg, looking at Ling Feng in shock, "How, how did you do it?"
"Can we talk about it back home? I’ve been there nearly a day and a night without a drop to drink!" Ling Feng said.
"Yes, yes, let’s quickly arrange some food and drink!"
Professor Du nodded hurriedly, not looking back as he shouted his orders.
The truth was, without his prompting, the Li Family had already developed a tacit understanding through many years of experience passed down through generations, forming a habit.
When the people noticed an extra, fairy-like beautiful girl among them, they all looked at Ling Feng with puzzled eyes, as if to say, aren’t you going to introduce her?
Ling Feng smiled, "This is my sister, Ling Yao."
"Greetings to you all."
Ling Yao gave a slight smile, gracefully bending her knees in what appeared to be a salute from ancient times.
People were still baffled, looking at Ling Feng with confusion.
"Leave the explanations for later, we’ll talk about it another time."
Ling Feng chuckled and stepped forward, walking on.
Seeing this, Professor Du and others had no choice but to give up, following back to the house ahead with a bellyful of doubts.
Ling Feng had already thought it through; Ling Yao’s identity was related to his own heritage, so he could only give a perfunctory explanation and couldn’t tell the truth.
If someone really pressed me for answers, I’d just make up some excuse on the spot and brush it off. After all, whether they believe it or not, it’s not like they can tie me down and interrogate me!
And that’s exactly what happened. After returning to the room, Professor Du immediately started inquiring about who Ling Yao was and where she came from.
Ling Feng evaded and deflected, refusing to tell the truth. Li Shiyun and Zhou Yi both had a mysterious smile, declining to answer, much to the old man’s frustration—nearly causing him to explode on the spot!
"Since I can’t tell you the truth, that’s my greatest secret. Professor, please forgive me, but I can tell you anything else you’d like to know!" Ling Feng said with a smile.
Professor Du glared at him: "If you won’t talk about this, I’m not interested in asking about anything else!"
"Really? Well, I’ve had my fill and now I’m ready to head home. I’ve been out for quite a while and I’m starting to miss it!" Ling Feng chuckled.
"You!"
Professor Du became agitated: "What nonsense are you talking about? You just arrived yesterday, what do you mean you’ve been out for so long!"
"Alright, Professor, Ling Feng must have his reasons, let’s not pry further. After all, he’s secured us several decades of time, enough for us to make far better preparations," Li Wannian intervened to calm the situation.
Hearing him say this, Professor Du couldn’t keep pressing the issue and could only huff indignantly, muttering, "I’ve told you everything I know, yet you’re keeping things from me. That’s really not cool."
One could see that he was still somewhat reluctant to let it go.
Lu Zihao then added with a smile, "It’s alright, Professor Du, we were just talking about Ling Feng yesterday. He’s doing this to protect himself; please try to understand."
"With you putting it that way, what else can I say?" Professor Du spread his hands.
...
...
After a hearty meal and drinks, Ling Feng proposed saying goodbye.
Li Wannian was taken aback by his eagerness to leave and asked, "Can’t you stay for a few more days? You’re not still holding a grudge against the Li Family, are you?"
"Grand Elder, you’re overthinking it. I’m in a hurry to get back not for my own sake. My family is missing Shiyun, and I have a lot of things to take care of at home!"
"Grandpa, I’m going to head back and see how things are. Once our family is settled in, I’ll come back and stay for a few days," Li Shiyun added.
The mission of the Li Family had temporarily come to an end. To outsiders, it may not seem like a big deal, but for the Li Family, it was monumental.
After all, it had lasted so long and to say it’s over just like that, they still needed time to digest it.
"Since that’s the case, I won’t keep you any longer."
Li Wannian thought to himself, girls grow up and can’t be kept from leaving; Shiyun’s heart is with Ling Feng, better to let her go.
And so, Ling Feng and the others left the Li Family and drove to the airport.
Ling Yao was a clever girl; from the moment they left the Secret Realm, she had remained silent, keeping her curiosity at bay and not asking immediately about anything new she saw.
Like now, sitting in the car, she didn’t understand what was happening but still restrained her curiosity, especially since the driver was a stranger.
Once they were on the airplane and saw Professor Du, looking like he was sulking, go sit in the front row, and Lu Zihao tactfully joined him, only Ling Feng, Li Shiyun, and Zhou Yi remained at the back. Yao then asked in a low voice, "How did we end up here again, and what is this all about?"
"This is an airplane; it’s going to fly up into the sky soon," Ling Feng explained.
"Oh, after so many years, humans still can’t fly?" Ling Yao asked.
"..."
Ling Feng was at a loss for words and didn’t know how to respond.
Zhou Yi, quick-witted, hurriedly explained, "There’s no real difference between people now and people from back then, maybe a slight improvement in physicality, but just a slight one. The major developments have been in various technologies, and this is one of them."
"Oh, that’s acceptable then. In the ancient times, only gods could fly, but now people can experience what it’s like to be in the sky," Ling Yao nodded.
"By the way, Yaoyao, are you a god?" Ling Feng asked.
