Ling Feng’s eyes widened when he heard that, and then he asked, "So that’s how it is, but how can I make up for my actions? Clearly, my contributions outweigh my faults!"
"What? You want me to give you a bonus or something?" Zhang He gave him a sideways glance.
"If there is one, naturally that would be nice," Ling Feng scratched his head.
Zhang He rolled his eyes, "Fine, I’ll report the ins and outs of this matter to headquarters and see what they say!"
"Forget it!"
Ling Feng hurriedly shook his head at that, "If it goes that way, even if there is a bonus, I’ll have to endure a scolding first!"
Zhang He chuckled, "You’re not completely foolish!"

Seeing Chen Xiao’s pleading expression, he finally chuckled and said, "Alright, Ling Feng, stop it already, sit down, and let’s talk about serious matters!"
"Fine then!"
Ling Feng wasn’t really trying to make things difficult for Chen Xiao; he was just taking the opportunity to get back at him for his previous indifference and today’s interrogation.
After sitting down, he asked with confusion, "I mean, how did you figure it out? Feng Ling told us with an innocent face that she was just a lowly liaison officer, and both Lin Xue and I believed it, but how did you manage to deduce that she was the Saintess?"

Zhang He drew out his voice, pretending to be deep, "That’s my secret. Can’t just tell anyone!"

"Regardless, this Saintess is very important to the Black Dragon Sect. Since you’ve caught her, let’s make the most of it and do some business with the Black Dragon Sect!" Zhang He said with a smile.
Ling Feng understood what he meant and smiled, "That could work. It all depends on whether, in their eyes, Luo Nanlin is worth more, or this Feng Ling is worth more."
Zhang He nodded, "Exactly, they can only choose one."
"So what’s next?" Ling Feng asked.
"The girl stays with you. You and Lin Xue will have to watch her closely for the next few days and wait for the Black Dragon Sect’s response," Zhang He stated.
Ling Feng nodded, "No problem!"
But then he changed the subject, "But given how important Feng Ling is, surely the two of us mustn’t leave her side for even a moment!"
"Right, what about it?"
Zhang He paused, looking at him puzzled.
"Nothing much, just that we can’t leave the house. How are we supposed to take care of food and other necessities?" Ling Feng shrugged his shoulders.
With that statement, Zhang He immediately understood and looked at him irritably, "Don’t worry, whatever you need, I’ll have someone deliver it to you!"
"That’s good. No need for someone special. I think Chen Xiao is quite up to the task!" Ling Feng grinned.
"I..."
Chen Xiao’s eyes went wide, feeling this was not going to be a pleasant task, clearly set up to take advantage of him, so he quickly said to Zhang He, "Chief..."
He had only managed to utter two words when Zhang He waved his hand to stop him, "Then it’s you, don’t worry about the affairs of the bureau, I’ll arrange for someone to handle them. You just focus on providing logistical support for Ling Feng these next few days!"

His statement was final, and Chen Xiao and Zhang Meng could no longer say anything. They could only stand up, come to attention, and salute, "Rest assured, leader, the task will definitely be completed!"
"Speaking of which, the bed in the room isn’t very comfortable. Plus, with Feng Ling staying inside, we can only sleep outside. We really need two better mattresses!" Ling Feng smacked his lips and said thoughtfully.
"Major, it will definitely be done by tonight!"
Chen Xiao said, giving Zhang Meng a look, and the two hurriedly left the room.
After hearing the door close, Zhang He looked at Ling Feng with a smile that was not a smile, "Quite good at making demands, aren’t you?"
"Nope, we really do need mattresses. Otherwise, where would I sleep tonight?" Ling Feng said with an innocent face.
Zhang He laughed without saying anything, stood up, and said, "Wouldn’t have thought we’d be on a mission together again. This time, no matter what, we cannot let Luo Nanlin escape!"
"That guy also had another name, seemed to be surnamed Mu. Can we check to see what’s really going on with this old guy, whether he is still the same Luo Nanlin from before?" Ling Feng asked.
"Okay, leave that to me!"
Zhang He understood what he meant and nodded, preparing to leave.
But Ling Feng immediately followed him, "Right, there was one more thing I forgot to ask!"
"What is it?" Zhang He turned around, asking perplexedly.
"Your blind date tonight, did it work out?" Ling Feng asked with a teasing smile.
Zhang He was taken aback and then rolled his eyes, "None of your business!"
With that, he turned around and walked away, quickly disappearing into the corridor of the hotel.
Ling Feng closed the door and chuckled. It was rare to see Zhang He’s face turn red; it seemed the guy was having a run of romantic luck!
After returning to the room, it wasn’t five minutes before there was a knock at the door.
Upon opening the door, there stood Chen Xiao and Zhang Meng, each holding a mattress, both slightly out of breath and looking very tired.
"That was fast, huh?"
Seeing the two of them, Ling Feng asked in astonishment.
"Coincidence, Zhang Meng’s brother-in-law sells bedding products, so one phone call and it was delivered!" Chen Xiao said with a sheepish smile.
Ling Feng was speechless, originally intending to give them a hard time, but his plan backfired due to this unexpected development.
So all he could do was smile, "Alright then, bring them in!"
The two men carried the mattresses in and set them down in the living room. They didn’t leave in a rush but instead stood there with sheepish grins, "Well, Major Ling..."
"No need to say anything. We are all colleagues here; what happened just now is in the past. I won’t take the opportunity to make things difficult for you," Ling Feng said with a smile.
