Chapter 514: Capturing Someone
After hearing Ling Feng’s words, Lin Xue paused, "Is this appropriate? Won’t it alert the enemy?"
"It shouldn’t, right? They can notice someone’s missing after just two or three days without contact?" Ling Feng asked.
"That’s hard to say. It depends on how tightly organized the other side is," Lin Xue furrowed her brows.
Ling Feng pondered for a moment, "Let’s try and see. If not, we follow what’s recorded in the documents and pick a minor character, the least noticeable kind."
"That plan might just work!"
Lin Xue’s eyes lit up, and she immediately began searching.
A few minutes later, she pointed at one of the entries and asked, "What do you think about this one?"
"A tea seller?"
Ling Feng looked at the detailed information which recorded that this girl named Feng Ling was from Mianluo Country, frequently walking through the county’s streets selling tea leaves, sometimes staying in small inns in the county town.
According to this woman’s activity pattern, she had certain connections with the Black Dragon Sect, but was only responsible for gathering some scattered intelligence.
After reading, Ling Feng nodded, "I think it’s feasible. If we capture her and control her for a few days, it should not alert the Black Dragon Sect."
Lin Xue nodded, "Okay, then she’s the one!"
By afternoon, Ling Feng and Lin Xue left the hotel shoulder to shoulder, mingling with other tourists and starting to wander around the streets of the county town.
Since the two were a couple, there was no need for a deliberate disguise, and no one on the streets would think that their outing was a ruse, merely a pretense to abduct someone.
While searching for the girl named Feng Ling, Lin Xue, hugging Ling Feng’s arm, asked, "You promised Chen Xiao this morning; should we inform him before we make a move?"
"I can’t be bothered to tell him. Why concern him with such trivial matters?" Ling Feng said with a laugh.
Lin Xue let out a chuckle, wholeheartedly agreeing.
She also felt awkward this morning; after all, the other party’s attitude wasn’t exactly welcoming, so she was holding a grudge!
The county town wasn’t very large, but after almost a full circle around the streets, they did not see any Mianluo Country person selling tea.
Just as they were getting anxious, they suddenly heard a quarrel coming from a nearby alley!
Ling Feng curiously glanced over and immediately stopped in his tracks!
Several people were standing in the alley, swaying and looking like hooligans at first glance.
Surrounded by them was a girl in printed clothing, carrying a shoulder pole!
She wore a hat on her head and covered her face with a mask, making it impossible to see her features clearly, but she had a graceful figure.
The hooligans circled around her with lecherous smiles, seemingly intent on bullying her!
Lin Xue also saw this scene and could not help but say, "It’s like finding what we want without any effort!"
"Lucky us, let’s go have a look!"
Ling Feng said, taking Lin Xue’s hand as they walked into the alley!
"If you don’t move away, I’m going to call for help!"
The girl’s voice was clear, with the softness characteristic of southerners, sounding very mellifluous.
"Feng Ling, you really don’t know what’s good for you, dodging us for days, and now you want to leave?"
"Go ahead and call. Who in this county doesn’t know us, the Four King Kongs; let’s see who dares to meddle with our business!"
"That’s right, hand over the money quickly, or you’re in for it today!"
This last sentence was particularly malicious, and Ling Feng’s brows furrowed, thinking to himself that this was really bringing shame upon their Huaxia, bullying a girl like this was no skill at all!
Angered, he had forgotten his own purpose for a moment. Putting it another way, wasn’t his plan to abduct Feng Ling for interrogation also a form of bullying a girl?
The two had already entered the alley and just started to approach when the four hooligans heard footsteps and simultaneously turned their heads.
"Get lost, don’t crowd around for nothing!" one of them shouted.
Ling Feng ignored him and asked with a smile, "What are you guys doing?"
"None of your business. You’re not from around here, right? If you don’t want trouble, better scram!" one of the hoodlums said.
The remaining three noticed Lin Xue standing beside Ling Feng. They were so mesmerized by her beautiful face that they nudged each other and their eyes gleamed with excitement!
Lin Xue, however, frowned in displeasure, which only added to her charm.
That’s why the hoodlum who had spoken earlier suddenly changed his mind and said with a snicker, "Not leaving, huh? Then come here, I’ll tell you what’s going on!"
Ling Feng smiled and replied, "Okay!"
After saying that, he stepped forward and, catching them off guard, suddenly struck, knocking out all four hoodlums in an instant!
Afterward, Ling Feng looked at them with disdain, "A bunch of trash, might as well kill you and toss you into the river!"
He had moved so fast, almost like lightning, leaving the girl standing there, stunned.
Ling Feng looked at her, "You’re Feng Ling?"
"Yes, but who are you?" Feng Ling asked.
To make sure he hadn’t nabbed the wrong person, Ling Feng confirmed once more, "You’re from Mianluo Country, here to sell tea leaves?"
"Right, what about it? Is there, is there a problem?"
Feng Ling’s eyes were the only parts of her visible, but they were large and exceptionally expressive, her long lashes fluttering. Ling Feng even felt the urge to pull down her mask to see if she was a beauty.
But business came first, and seeing her nervous, Ling Feng smiled and said, "That’s good, it’s nothing serious, just wanted to ask you a few questions!"
"What questions?"
Even though Ling Feng was friendly and pleasant, Feng Ling still felt very nervous and cautiously took a couple of steps back.
That’s when Lin Xue stepped forward and came to her side, "Don’t be afraid, we’re not bad people."
"Oh."
Feng Ling nodded, about to inquire what it was all about, but then she heard a whoosh behind her head, and Ling Feng had struck her neckline in a flash, causing her to faint!
"What are you doing?" Lin Xue was startled and quickly asked.
"Why ask here? Let’s take her back to the hotel!" Ling Feng said.
Lin Xue was speechless, but then thought, well, that made sense, since they had to keep her for a few days anyway!
But then she became troubled again, "We’re in the middle of the street, you knocked her out, how do we take her back to the hotel?"
"You’re a girl, carrying another girl, what’s the problem? No one will suspect anything!" Ling Feng said with a smile.
"Uh..."
Lin Xue was speechless, "You mean for me to carry her back to the hotel? And what about you?"
"I’ll guard from behind!" Ling Feng said with a smile.
After rolling her eyes, Lin Xue, seeing things had come to this, reluctantly shook her head and bent down to pick up Feng Ling.
Then she expressed surprise, "This girl is so light!"
"Isn’t that even better? You go hail a taxi, and I’ll follow you!"
Having said that, Ling Feng crouched down and rummaged through the tea carrier on the ground, but found nothing of value.
After exiting the alley, he saw Lin Xue had already taken Feng Ling and boarded a car, so he quickly hailed another taxi and followed them.
The ride to the hotel was surprisingly smooth, and upon entering the lobby, they were briefly stopped by security, but Lin Xue managed to deceive them with an excuse about her sister having low blood sugar.
After reaching their room upstairs, they laid the girl on the bed, and Ling Feng immediately said, "You first remove her mask."
"Why?" Lin Xue asked, confused.
"Hehe, just because, let’s see what she looks like!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.
