Chapter 480 Heretical Cult Clues
Zhang He’s eyes flashed with surprise, followed by a wry smile, "Are interpersonal relationships this complicated?"
"Indeed, it really is quite a coincidence!" Ling Feng laughed.
"Alright, I’ll go ask!"
Zhang He nodded and, without asking any further questions, turned and walked toward the car.
After he left, Ling Feng turned back to look at the people around him, "Alright, disperse! There’s nothing to see here!"
The crowd: "..."
Everyone had a look of speechlessness. What did he mean by ’nothing to see here’? That old man just now was clearly a big boss, and you detained him in the car, and now it’s nothing?
Even Yang Guihua was a bit confused and approached to ask, "Ling Feng, what’s, what’s going on here?"
"Don’t worry, your house will definitely be properly accounted for; if it’s demolished, it won’t be for nothing, and your money won’t be wasted!"
Ling Feng smiled, then said to the security guards, "You guys should leave quickly as well. There’s nothing for you here anymore!"
They looked at each other, unsure, and no one moved.
Seeing this, Ling Feng had no alternative. He couldn’t exactly force them to leave, and it wasn’t his place to do so.
So he could only smile and say, "Fine, if you wish to wait, then stay here and wait!"
After saying that, he turned to Yang Guihua, "You go home first. I’ll have someone with the surname Lei come and apologize to you later!"
"This..."
Yang Guihua was still in a fog, somewhat bewildered.
"Rest assured, leave it to me!" Ling Feng said cheerily.
"Alright then."
Convinced by his assurance, Yang Guihua stopped pondering and turned to leave.
Returning to the car, after waiting for a few minutes, Zhang He pushed open the car door and got out.
"How’s it going?" Ling Feng immediately asked.
"It really is related to Luo Nanlin!"
Zhang He frowned and gave Ling Feng a look. "Take him to your sub-bureau. This matter has escalated to an issue of national security!"
"What?"
Ling Feng was stunned. He had thought it was a minor issue, but the outcome was unexpected. So he hurriedly asked, "What exactly is going on, what did the old guy say?"
"Let’s talk about it back at the station," Zhang He said, and then he turned and got into the passenger seat.
Ling Feng had no choice but to open the door and get into the car. Looking back, he noticed Lei Hong had passed out.
"Did you use torture on him?"
"Not really, just some small tricks. He was asking for it with his stubbornness!" Zhang He replied.
Seeing his nonchalant expression, Ling Feng couldn’t help but laugh and said, "You’re something, kid, tougher than me!"
"Nonsense, I was always tougher than you!" Zhang He glared at him irritably.
The car drove away, and the onlookers began to disperse, seeing the commotion had died down. Lei Hong’s group looked at each other—me at you and you at me—and then also left one by one.
As the saying goes, ’When the tree falls, the monkeys scatter.’ Their boss was taken away, and they were powerless to do anything. The feeling was too embarrassing.
On the way to Longyuan, Zhang He began to speak, "This business with Lei Hong demolishing houses for reconstruction is trivial. Do you know what else I learned from him?"
"Been waiting for you to spill it, can you not play coy?" Ling Feng rolled his eyes at him.
Zhang He didn’t mind and just gave a faint smile, "I’ve long heard about a heretical cult infiltrating Huaxia, but there was never any clue. Surprisingly, I heard about them from Lei Hong!"
"What heretical cult?" Ling Feng was taken aback.
"You don’t need to know about that. Anyway, we’ve found a lead from Lei Hong. Hopefully, we can trace it back and root them all out!"
Ling Feng looked at him, "What do you mean I don’t need to know? So you’re saying this matter doesn’t involve me anymore, right?"
Zhang He nodded, "You probably won’t need to. Let’s see what the higher-ups decide!"
"Then I’m happy to kick back and relax," Ling Feng laughed.
But Zhang He gave him a look, "Relax? Don’t celebrate too soon. Do you know who Lei Hong is building a house for?"
"Who?" Ling Feng was stunned.
"Luo Nanlin!"
"Damn!"
Upon hearing this, Ling Feng almost slammed on the brakes!
His eyes widened, he looked at Zhang He and asked, "What’s going on? Does Lei Hong know Luo Nanlin’s whereabouts?"
"He did know, but now that he’s been caught by us, I’m afraid we won’t be able to find him!" Zhang He said.
"..."
Ling Feng was speechless, feeling a bit confused, and for a moment didn’t even know what to say.
After the car returned to Longyuan, Zhang He got out, casually picking up the unconscious Lei Hong and entered the gate.
The more Ling Feng thought about it, the more dissatisfied he felt, and he followed, asking, "So, does this mean I can’t get my thing done now?"
"Don’t rush. Luo Nanlin’s intentions aren’t clear, but him coming here to set up a base must have something to do with you. He’ll show up again sooner or later!" Zhang He looked back and said.
Ling Feng still felt unwilling, but with Lei Hong still unconscious, it was impossible to ask Luo Nan about his location. He guessed that soon Lei Hong would be interrogated about the Heretical Cult, which meant even less chance to find out.
So all he could do was shake his head in resignation.
At that moment, Chen Ping had already seen them from inside the building, and came out to greet them, "Director Zhang, what brings you to our place?"
The two had met during a video conference, and it hadn’t been long ago, so he still remembered Zhang He.
"I was actually looking for Ling Feng, but then I stumbled upon a case. Director Chen, let’s go inside to talk," Zhang He said with a smile.
"Sure, please come in!" Chen Ping said with a laugh, glancing at Lei Hong whom Zhang He was carrying.
Everyone entered, and while Ling Feng wanted to overhear the discussion about the Heretical Cult, his phone rang at that moment. Noticing it was Joanna calling, he quickly excused himself from the two directors and hurried out.
"You girl, where have you run off to?"
He immediately asked upon answering the call.
"Of course, I had important things to take care of. Why are you so anxious?" Joanna retorted irritably.
"I’m not anxious, just worried about you is all!" Ling Feng, realizing his tone was not very good just now, quickly said with a laugh.
"Hmph! You don’t need to worry about me!"
Joanna snorted and then changed the subject, "Where are you? I’ve got something to discuss with you!"
"I’m at our branch office. Are you back?" asked Ling Feng.
"That’s perfect. I just got back. I’ll head over to you now!" Joanna said, and was about to hang up the phone.
Ling Feng quickly asked, "What about Zhou Yi? Did she come back with you?"
"Why? You worried about my cousin?" Joanna asked.
"Am I sick to worry about her? I just asked casually!" Ling Feng rolled his eyes!
Joanna chuckled mischievously, "If you’re not worried, then don’t ask!"
"Dudu dudu..."
Seeing that the phone had been hung up, Ling Feng was very speechless.
Ten minutes later, the sound of a car engine came from outside the door.
Joanna entered, saw Ling Feng leaning against the wall basking in the sun, and giggled, "What’s up, you got put in time-out?"
"Nah, waiting for you. What did you want to talk about?" Ling Feng sized her up and asked curiously.
"It’s nothing major. Doesn’t everyone have a Teleportation Array? Where’s mine?" Joanna stretched out her small hand.
Ling Feng was speechless, "That’s it?"
Joanna cocked her head, "Yeah, what else did you think?"
